J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. Post office in Kearny NJ, seriously? They sit on packages for 17 days? And they could well be sending it on to Colorado like a prior package...which added an additional ten days to go there and back.

    1. my package is still sitting in my town post office... it's been 2.5 weeks. i'm wondering if it's possible to just walk over there and have them hand it to me at this point

  2. so i thought i would treat myself to a new swimsuit. something simple and classic in style. so i tried the Ballet one-piece swimsuit
    Item H2817 but my usual size 4 was booty-rific. so i thought that since the straps were not adjustable, the issue was they were pulling and one size up would solve the problem. size 6 just arrived. and the style is perfect for me... but this suit is just so wedgie-centric... i just can't keep it and i'm not going to keep trying larger and larger sizes because the rest of the suit is fine. Sigh. if anyone has a better one-piece swimsuit suggestion, i'd appreciate it. and for the record, i have no butt so i'm not sure how these suits can be so cheeky even on me.

    1. I got a popback of the Sporty V-back one-piece swimsuit in classic stripe print (L6945). I ordered two sizes larger based on reviews (I'm also usually a 4), and going larger fits great. I have the same problem you have with butt coverage, but I didn't go up in size due to the butt issue - this particular suit I think was just fit-sized incorrectly because reviews across the board said it fit much smaller.

      I also like the Plunge V-neck one-piece swimsuit (G9417) - I took it in my regular size and everything was covered.

    2. I have 2 of the ruched femme one piece suits and really like them because they have low(er) cut leg and good rear coverage, HOWEVER my suits are from several years ago and I have no idea if the newer ones are cut the same. The reviews are good though. I also have a ruched tankini top but actually took that in to get altered due to shoulder straps being weirdly long.

  4. Today I wore Tie-neck top in lace Item AG853 in chartreuse with a white denim skirt for WFH. Felt like a bit of dress up. Though mostly sold out now, this does pop back. It is one of the nice tops from J Crew lately. The lace beautiful and also soft on the skin. It is lined. I took my usual S for a comfortable loose fit. You need a racer or halter convertible bra.

    2. Since there is no where to go, I need to dress up at home. I wore the black/ivory snake print heeled mules from last year. Good with the color of the top.

    3. I tried my black tie neck top in lace on again and realized it’s really long and difficult to tuck. Did you tuck yours in? I think when I tried it on initially I was wearing slouchy jeans and just did a front tuck. With more fitted high waisted pants it’s definitely difficult to tuck it in. I almost wish it had elastic to make the bottom more fitted, though I guess it wouldn’t be too difficult to add if I really wanted.

  5. There are so many pants I’d be tempted to try now that they are not final sale again, but the return hassle is what stops me. I’ve only ordered from Everlane, Nordstrom and Alex Mill since March and each makes free returns so much easier. I mean I’m spending double on the clothes and buying less but the simplicity with mail returns is appreciated now.

    1. "Orders placed between May 1st and June 10th will have a 60 day return policy." The stores have got to be open by August! So maybe this is not a bad time, but only one day left. Then I guess it goes back to 30 days?

    2. If returns go back to 30 days I hope they speed up there shipping times and return processing times. If I order something from JC it takes at least 5 days to arrive once shipped, and returns take over 10 days to get back to JC and they take 2 weeks to process, so by my calculation that is at least 29 days in transit - so better ship returns out the same day you get the item.

    3. June 10 cutoff mark is interesting. I assume it’s based on when they expect most stores to open, but their flagship and headquarters in NYC won’t be open by then. NYC is expected to enter Phase 2 on June 22, and that’s if we don’t get a bump from protests/Phase 1.
