JCA "Help Style Me!" Weekly Post

This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this post) says it best, "You know, that thing you bought because you love it and you keep pulling it out and then putting it away without wearing it?"

Please share your J.Crew item (either that you own or are thinking about getting) that you would love help creating an outfit with.

Also, please help out by offering your styling advice. Feel free to include links to your blog (where you incorporated that piece) or to Polyvore (where you showcased an outfit with that piece). Thanks in advance! :)

  1. Since,it's pretty quiet, here's a styling question for those who wear white jeans year round, how do you wear them? I bought the slim boyfriend jeans in white this summer and still haven't worn them. I'd like to venture out of my comfort zone a little.
When I've worn the white linen sailor pants and either white linen top or white Regent blazer I've gotten lots of compliments (once I even left the house 😂).
I mostly wear black tops and I know that can work, but I feel a little like Andy Warhol.
I don't wear much color, so it's either white, black or maybe gray/chambray.

    1. I usually wear white jeans in the winter with a chunky turtleneck sweater and Chelsea boots... As long as the weather isn't gross. White fluffy snow I'm fine with, but when the weather gets slushy/muddy, then I put the white pants away for the season.

    2. J.Crew had this super cute styling a couple years ago featuring white jeans and a dark grey cozy sweater with the black puffer vest. It was really simple but I loved it and copy the look sometimes in the winter.
The jeans may have been ecru come to think of it, but I always wear white and think it looks great.

    3. I always think I'm going to wear white jeans through the winter and with the slush, dirty winter weather it just doesn't happen. But when I do squeeze them in for fall I think chambray works, a neutral bootie / maybe a blazer over the chambray (you could do a black blazer or navy blazer with a chambray top). Do you follow @agelessstyle on IG? She often has really cute white jean flat lays for inspiration through the colder weather.

    4. I have this year's chambray bodysuit, that will work with white jeans, good idea Anne.

    5. Anne, yes I do! She does wear a lot of white denim, I do have a gray herringbone and several black blazers that might look nice with a chambray shirt. For Casual footwear I might try the leather NB because they have the white sole.

  2. I love white jeans with either ivory or camel chunky turtleneck sweaters in the fall and winter

    1. Since I hardly wore my white jeans due to the heat this summer, I plan on wearing them through the fall. I also have a pair of 'natural' off-white skinnies.
I do not do well with camel near my face, but I can wear white or ivory.
What else do you think works with white skinny, straight and flare jeans in the fall? I'll wear the flared-sleeve marled swing sweater H8986 for sure, it works so well with white. And until it gets really cool my long sleeve linen shirts. Then what? How about a navy blazer?

    2. I actually have an ivory chunky Madewell sweater. It's not my favorite against my skin but with a colorful silk scarf or chambray shirt underneath it might work if the ivory doesn't appear too yellow against the white. (I've worn it with a white buttonmdown underneath so it may work ok).
