Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Creaw this {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

  1. No store visit this weekend, but I saw this article after reading a JCA post about the store closing in Soho (Prince Street). It's from Business Insider on 12/7/17. I was struck by MD's comments.

Same-store sales at the company's namesake brand fell 12% in the most recent quarter, continuing a long streak of declines.

The clothing company parted ways earlier this year with its longtime CEO Mickey Drexler, as well as its creative director Jenna Lyons.

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Drexler said the retailer's biggest mistake over the last several years is that it jacked up its prices at a time when customers were increasingly cost-conscious.

"We gave a perception of being a higher-priced company than we were — in our catalog, online, and in our general presentation," Drexler told The Journal. "Very big mistake."

    1. I don’t know how a retai corporation runs but if the CFO says we’re at a loss the first year, isn’t that the time to start cutting back?

    2. Mickey got it only half right. Higher prices, yes .... combined with substantially lower quality across the board in fabric (fiber content, blends) and garment construction. It’s appalling how quickly J Crew garments and shoes went from high end rivaling some designer labels to F21 and Target. There is little difference anymore and consumers clearly are getting that.

  3. I was at the store last week and got 30% off. A lot of inventory is gone at this point, especially hair accessories and clips and smaller items.

  4. So the tooth pick jeans that actually say 8 inch on the j crew tag above the size label are the new version. The old version is still being sold at full price and staff claims they are the same except they just don't say 8 inch. Not true the fit is horrible on the news ones that say 8 inches. The legs are the same but the fit in the waist is bad...Sucks because the older ones will be gone soon with no new of those coming in

    1. I have some purchased in the fall, are they new or old 8"?

    2. Old...they started the new ones for holiday '17. The fall ones don't say 8" on the j crew tag above the size. The new holiday ones will.....The waist fits drastically different on each one even though J crew claims they didn't change the pants between those two seasons...The stores seems to have mainly ones that say 8" which are new ones with a couple of older mixed in but once the older are gone then that is it.

    3. @RN Oh interesting. I got the classic rinse (I think) in the fall and love them and also liked the Glendale wash. Last I went to my store I tried on a pair with a raw hem and they didn't fit the same as the ones from the fall, as a matter. Of fact they felt very thin.
OTOH I do prefer the fit of the 9" rise such as the charcoal wash. In the previous version the zipper doesn't go all the way down the crotch which is a pet peeve of mine. (Vent worthy pet peeve-- it really bothers me!).

  5. I visited today, Monday.
j.crew was 40 off. I glanced around. Didn't notice many party shoes in store at all, only boots and sneakers (Seavees) for the most part. They were putting out grab and go items like earrings, barrettes, etc.
sale section was old stuff, picked over.
Madewell has the coated denim on the sale rack but full price online. They ordered my size for me and gave me an extra 25 percent off.
