Has any JCA tried the Belted sheath dress in Black Watch Tartan? It's classic JC and I'm curious about size/fit.
ReplyDeleteEven though I haven’t purchased much from them lately and rarely if ever check the sale section anymore, I still love JC and want them to succeed. Here are some suggestions for them as they try to focus their efforts away from stores and on to the website.
ReplyDeleteItem descriptions need more detail, and they need to be CORRECT. List fabric composition, including percentages. Add a chart of item measurements by size (see: Boden). If customers no longer have the option to go to a store to try things on then, then the online store needs to be as detailed (again, accurately) as possible.
Along with this, model pics need to show the clothes, not hide them. Pictures of models twisting, turning, draping one arm over the head, holding a ribbon in a circle over their eye (see: H3477) aren’t helpful. If this is all some kind of trickery to hide things that are cut too short, then maybe you need to rethink making things too short to begin with. (Also, the greasy, stringy, unbrushed hair a lot of them have these days is just...ugh.)
Speaking of hiding things, change the default setting on your item reviews back to show the most helpful review first, and not the highest rated review. You’re not fooling anyone. With stores closing, some of us depend on the item reviews to tell the truth about the items if you won’t. I had my eye on the Piccadilly vintage straight jeans (H2455) but thanks to a review that stated they’re not 99% cotton/1% elastene as listed I saved time and money ordering them.
In the sale section, lose the tacky red print that says “SAVINGS APPLIED - NO CODE NEEDED”. You don’t know that’s true! Perhaps if I see you did the math for me (um, thanks?) and an item is marked at 19% off, I will need a code to make it worthwhile (especially if it’s last season).
These are all tweaks that don’t require you changing the clothes at all.. that’s for another post. ; )
+1 !!!!!
Deletei would like to add ACCURATE model photos... not photos that show things like regular length sweaters and then you get the item and it's cropped. or midi length skirts and the skirt actually hits at the knee.
And maybe tell us what size the model is wearing and her height! Like if I see a 5'10" model who is tiny wearing a medium to get a drapey look, I know I need to size up to get that same look. I've seen other sites do that and I love it.
DeleteYou should email this to CS, and hopefully someone with power can make the changes.
DeleteAlso +1!! How is a photo of a model hunched over or hiding half of her outfit with a weird pose that involves flipping half her skirt up or half tucked in shirt even helpful to anyone???
DeleteI agree! I've been saying the same thing for a few years. Poses that hide the clothing, uncreative styling, etc...with less "style guides" online pics (and accurate descriptions/measurements, etc) are so important.
DeleteGood points all. I think if they want to be editorial and look straight out of the pages of Vogue for one of their shots that's fine but there also needs to be pictures included that are accurate representations of the garment.
DeleteThank you, silver_lining!!! So sick of seeing the silly pre-schooler type poses! What adult woman, or really anyone over the age of 5, tugs on her sleeves like that? e.g., B3380, H1906, H9766 to name a few. And the stringy hair. I used to really aspire to emulate those beautiful and classy J Crew looks. Those days are, sadly, gone.
DeleteAwesome comments! Totally agree!
DeleteReceived a couple of orders from promo.
ReplyDeleteCashmere stripe tunic - fit is tts & love the olive color of the stripes. Didn't realize that online, but it's a nice surprise. I love this tunic style because it reminds me of Vince & it wears so easily. I have this tunic in other colors & no issues with cashmere pilling.
Quilted downtown field jacket in black - I own one other downtown field jacket (burgundy), so I knew that I should order tall. Fit is tts. I like the ability to zip & snap for closure. There's an adjustable band to cinch the waist. Layered with cashmere tunic & plenty of room. Jacket will pack well so good for travel. Nice lightweight jacket.
Sadie pom pom criss cross plaid flats - Fit is tts. Very stylish & comfortable.
cross posting from the review thread -
ReplyDeleteI know it's mostly sold out, but I finally posted a few photos and a small review of the tall lace top with pleats on my instagram @fablifeforever
been a crazy week or I would have posted sooner! Still not sure if it's a keeper.
thanks Anne. it looks fantastic on you. if the price was good with promos...I would keep it!!!
DeleteHappy to report that I’ve received the bow seam pencil skirt and it does NOT have a double bow at the waist as the product photo shows. It is a single row of three bows down the same side. And it is adorable! Wasn’t going to keep because I thought it had the extraneous bow but now am veering toward keeping. The contrast robbed turtleneck is also great and a keeper: I sized down to the smaller of my sizes and judging by the ribbed fabric I think this will stretch as you wear. The smaller of my sizes was not so small as to be uncomfortable, and looked good tucked in. The contrast trim is a nice little twist on a classic. I got the black and I may get more colors!
ReplyDeleteReally???? I didnt order beause of bow. My size is probably sold out.....
