Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Creaw this {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

  1. Hi all - EA is up this morning. Nothing for me in there (again), but maybe something for you? Promo applies to most.

    1. Thanks, silver lining. A few things I like, but the blends are just killing me.

    2. Hi Mrs. G - they're just awful. The first and last wool-blend sweater I purchased from them was a blend similar to the current sweaters and it looked terrible after one wear. There's no way I could gift one of these to somebody!

      Delete
    3. It looks like some of the blends only have nylon, which I can tolerate more. Acrylic for me is terribly scratchy and cheap feeling. Still not really interested in buying these blends from JCrew.

    4. Terrible blends and pretty cropped/short at 21 22 inches....just sad.

    5. Thank you- I was able to order the Brooklyn sweatshirt for $30 & free shipping. Too bad about the materials on the sweaters. I agree they are for the most part just cheap looking and will need replacing quickly.
I did visit my local store this weekend and it was full and the SAs were all helpful. I did buy the lace pleated top but will return. After trying it on at home it was just too short. If I raised my arms my torso was exposed and the lace doesn't lend itself to work with a cami. Unfortunately the talls aren't online any longer. I also question the fussiness of the pleats and washing.

    6. I really like the Marled Open-neck Cardigan Sweater, but I bought a very similar sweater in 100% cotton from Gap back in the spring, at about 1/3 the price of this one. As with the crappy blended Cosmic sweater, I’ll be passing on this one despite loving the look of it.

    7. Hi shopgrrrl - yes! I also have a marled long open cardigan from Gap - 100% cotton, washes wonderfully, looks new even though I wear it frequently. Their marled knits (still) tend to be all cotton, and the starting prices are more like $79 instead of $128 (and they're ALWAYS running a 40% promo).

    8. Lyocell/Cotton long cardi looks promising. I could use something like this for throwing on when going to the gym or around the house. From my experience lyocell is the most durable fabric of all. I have 14 years old lyocell bedding that looks like new despite being in heavy rotation for the first 4 years and not so heavy for the last 10. I’d also like the sweater dress but not the blend it’s made of.

    9. I find the lyocell...feels silky. agree for after the gym or around the house. I am trying to find more "timeless pieces"
ordered two Thomas Mason shirts during the 40% plus 10% off promo. both are keepers. different sizes in each one...go figure. I am stocking up only on what will last...because I don't know if J Crew can continue with the way they are now...just my opinion though.

    10. While I share a strong dislike of these sweater blends, I am encouraged that there are more streamlined shapes in the early access release, not as many ruffles!

I'm curious about the sleeveless cardigan sweater in gray, could be a versatile layering piece for work and the weekends. I hope it really is a merino/cotton blend and no nylon/acrylic/etc.

  2. Thanks silver lining. The striped fair isle sweater that many have been looking for is in this rollout but sadly it is a acrylic mishmash blend. The bow pencil skirt looks pretty and should be popular. I saw the threaded ball drop earrings in a store last week. They are cute and lightweight. The pink ones are the color of the upbeat tee. I was hoping for something to wow me enough to use my $50 off coupon but not feeling it yet.

    1. This is the sweater I had been covering... but now I really don't know if I should bother. Oh, and did you see the description: The classic Fair Isle sweater with a twist (i.e., the rows of Fair Isle create a striped pattern). Thanks for clarifying, J. Crew. 🙄

  3. Thanks for the link! It's a bummer that a lot of things are not shipping for another week or so - again, makes it hard for holiday parties or for gifts.

No store visit for me this past weekend but I did get my lace pleated top in the tall size. It's not an immediate love for me. As Muffin said, I'm not sure if the pleats are too fussy or what. I didn't have that "ooh I love this" moment. I would probably get more use out of the plain lace top, which is of course sold out now. I'm a 4/6 in tops, I ordered the 4 tall and it's a little slim through the body - the sleeves are perfect and it's not cropped but I do wonder if a 6 would give it the swingy look, as it's more fitted in the tall.

I also received my crackled gold mules - I tried both a 9.5 and a 10 (I'm a 9.5 in almost all J.Crew shoes) and the 10 just fit. I think I need to get used to the style - I feel like I'm balancing to keep them on my feet, but they're not big at all. They're not practical while we have snow on the ground but I'd wear them when it dries out/warms up a little.

    1. hi Anne. can you post an IG photo of the tall lace pleated top... I ordered it as well....but has not shipped. Thanks!

      Delete
    2. Sorry the lace top didn't work for you Anne. Please post pics on IG.

I am still waiting on mine, which is scheduled to reach me by December 19th (weather permitting).

    3. I was able to try the lace top with pleats in a size down (00) in store today but it was too tight in arms and shoulders so I ordered a 0. I am hoping to get a cami to work (not sure it's possible) because when I lifted my arms it was quite short (I'm 5'7"). Standing still it didn't seem that short. Would like to try a tall but they're sold out.

  4. Pass for me. How many bell sleeves does one need?

    1. Once I read "bell sleeve" in the item description(s) I lost interest.

  5. disappointed again. what is with all the cheap short sweaters?

  6. New mini-rollout is a pass for me too. Here is my code if anyone would like to use ZV5G7. It 40% off + 10% (lots of exclusions) + free shipping until 11:59 EST.

    1. Wow! Where’d you get that?

    2. You are welcome!

This season Jcrew elevated me to VIP status, probably because I complain (via email) a lot about their lack of quality, and terrible in-store CS.

      Delete
    3. This totally made me LOL! If that's the case, I was definitely VIP for a while there. ;) Anyway, I think that this code is multi-use (just tested it and it worked, and you know they go flying out of here pretty quickly). Enjoy, JCA's!

      Delete
    4. Thanks I used as well! Despite my misgivings about the bow skirt (below), I ordered it anyway to try. And the piped turtleneck because I actually quite like the styling with the skirt.

      Delete
    5. interesting! I'd want to elbow my way into VIP status again - don't know when I lost it, if I did. But perhaps it's better for my life if I don't... ;)

    6. Wow-so fantastic that the code is multi-use! Thanks for sharing, CR DSa and silver_lining! FYI for anyone else who rec'd an extra 15% off card with an order-mine said it was effective 12/17-1/29, but it worked today and stacked with the ZV5G7 code. Happy shopping! Oh-and many thanks to Suz Has for posting last week about the instore promo on the mountain puffer; I got another for a great price. And thanks to JCAs for sharing that stores were running the extra 20% off with JC card last week; mine had not told me, and the sales rep had forgotten to apply it until I asked. So grateful for this great community!

      Delete
    7. I received one of those but I thought it didn't stack because of the dates, but I'm going to call CS tonight to apply. Thanks!

      Delete
    8. My 15% off code worked also (after calling CS). Thanks for the info!! Much love to this JCA community and JC CS.

      Delete
    9. I got one of those 15% off codes too. Damn, I'll see if there's anything I want.

      Delete
    10. First, yes, massive love to all the JCAs for sharing! Keep em coming!
Second, just got the coveted email (at 6pm). Useless to me now, but I can’t bring myself to delete it; it’s proof they still love me...

      Delete
    11. I, too, got the additional 10% off email after already calling CS for the 15% off adjustment. On the phone AGAIN for the additional adjustment for 10%. I just might keep my whole order. SMOOCHES again to the JCAs!

But one question, who does that???!! Did the late shift come to work and just decide to add the additional %??? I'm not complaining, but I would have missed it all.

  7. I am drawn to that bow skirt but as a grown woman with an affinity for bows, even I have to say that skirt has one bow too many. (literally. Why does the waist have two bows? its so lopsided. )

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Agreed. I loved the look of it with the model but when i looked at the product shot of just the skirt my first thought was who added that extra bow at the waist. I think the model is so embarrassed that she is hiding that second waist bow with her crossed arms!

  8. Does anyone know when the mustard bronze with multi fair isle at the yoke is expected to roll out (pictured on model on the jewelry landing page)? I’ve been waiting for that and the snowflake fair isle that arrived on the site today.

    1. Hi Meg - the EA link usually doesn't have everything, so it will probably roll out tomorrow or Wednesday. I can't imagine it would be any later than that, they'll probably have moved on to resort wear by the next big rollout.

      Delete
    2. Meg it already came out. It was a Harley of Scotland collaboration. I ordered it with promo Thanksgiving week. I ended up returning as I did’t love the color on me. Quality was good, old school traditional style...it also ran slightly short on my torso. Color would look great on brunettes and redheads, Watch for pop backs!

    3. Sorry this is reference to mustard fair isle.

  9. So I received the Collection Faux fur coat in wine over the weekend...and it’s a love.

Ordered an xxs. Size fits me all over. Not much room to layer a bulky sweater, not necessary living in SF.
One problem: Cost per wear 😂
How often would I wear this? (Bought it for $320+ during Black Friday promo)
Longevity of the material and style.
Is it practical? My lifestyle is casual wear-work and weekends. I’d probably look out of place wearing this next to my husband and daughter 😂
The other positive excuse to keeping it aside from the fit is - it’s fun!
    *sigh* I’m torn.

    1. I understand oh to well. sometimes I really love items but have no where to wear them..I usually consider the $$ then if its really pricey...I don't keep it. even if I love it and love it on others...if its just alittle over the top for my life...I have to pass.

    2. I have a very similar wine-coloured faux fur that I've had for several years and wear regularly in the winter as it's so warm. Works with jeans or dressier outfits. Like you say, it's fun! But I paid less than $100 for it... there are lots of them out there in the stores right now, even H&M has some very cute faux furs right now. If you like the concept but the JCrew price is a bit much, have a look around. Mine is on my IG but the last pic of it is from late November 2016.

    3. I second Cagliari’s idea of trying to find a coat that will fit the CPW target you have in mind. Having bought my own vintage faux fur this year after years of searching, I can say that I love having the chance to wear it. It injects some fun and glamour into my otherwise casual, practical wardrobe.

    4. Thanks ladies! I’ll let it sink in and watch it hang in my closet. ☺️
I even ordered the matching stripe turtleneck (and frosted light pink sunnies from Madewell) their guest model Georgina wore on J.Crews Style Guide.

  10. Forgive me if this has been discussed already, but did anyone else notice on the December credit card statement a change to the rewards system? The text reads "earn rewards faster and access your rewards digitally" "you can now earn a $10 rewards card for every $200 you spend (instead of $25 for every $500), and your rewards will be fulfilled monthly instead of quarterly." Changes go into effect 2/12/18.

    That seems like an improvement!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. i didn't see that! but i much prefer getting the rewards as soon as they're ready instead of quarterly (because it's just too confusing)

      Delete
    2. Hmmm...This is exactly what I complained about in one of my many emails to JCrew. I recommended a program similar to Nordstrom, or better Gap/BR where rewards can be used in sister stores i.e Madewell.

  11. I went to the Santa Monica Jcrew store last Saturday. They had the embroidered rose T-shirt and "Live a little" T-shirt in multiple sizes (I recall seeing XS, S, l and XL.). The material is very substantial for a T-shirt. I also saw the sparkle tweed dress in 0 and 2 (very cute, but not my style)

I think there have been a lot of queries about these Tees, if anyone is looking for this T-shirt please call the store (310-260-9099). I complained to them that these are not offered online, but as usual the in-store CS were perplexed and unhelpful.

    1. Hi CR DSa, I just picked up the Rose tee in store today. Agree it's a substantial knit, nice to see thicker tees. I wasn't planning on buying it but I thought it was too cute to pass on.

      Delete
    2. Jan, glad you got the Tees. I agree they are super cute. I don’t wear my statement Tees from
Previous years hence I passed. Now I am eagerly waiting my lace pleat top. I truly hope I’m not disappointed.

      Delete
    3. I’m awaiting the 0 in the lace top too. I’m hoping it’s not too short. I ordered from a store in Canada so I should receive by tomorrow since ups is pretty fast here. I’ll report back if I do.
It looked fantastic on you in your pics so I think yours should be good.

  12. I got the VIP email. Same code as above. Really nothing of interest. There was a pair of jeans I wanted but my store didn't seem to have them anymore and I think they're sold out online. I was tempted to buy the higher heel sequin ankle strap/maryjanes which poppped back in my size yesterday but today they're gone.
I've MAYBE kept a handful or so of pieces all fall.

  13. just received the Ribbed popover . navy and the ivory.
item H4160. with the 40 % and extra 10% promo (Cyber Monday).
This is great example of what is going wrong with J Crew.
this sweater could have been great. good colour choices as well.
but its cropped , wide, and the is pilling right out of the bag. it will either looks worn out soon or be sweater shaved to death. the navy is a true navy..love the colour and the ivory was ..as other mention see through. the neck and snaps are superb...but not enough to keep it. darn. this could have been mine in all available colours (just my style) but its going back.

  14. Pretty wild that the early access for men's is like... half shorts, even though it's december. What guys are needing shorts right now???

    ReplyDelete
  15. I got the Madewell Langford wide leg crop pants in metallic. They're super sparkly. Fit is great. But I think they're just too flashy for me. They're really fun. Could work with a tuxedo top, chambray top, or simple sweater, dressed up or down. But for someone who barely wears color they might just be too much for me. Pics don't do the sparkle justice. Fabric is like a metallic brocade. I have a blazer from my sweet 16 in 1985 that's a metallic brocade and it feels similar.
Husband said I looked like I should be on a cruise, 21 year old daughter loved them.
Considering I just sold my ludlow pants with sequin tuxedo stripe for a steal because they were too lounge for me I think I'd be crazy to keep them but they ARE special.

  16. Stopped by for returns and didn’t expect to see mini rollout in my store, including a new red tippi with French alpine scene with embroidered snow. Didn’t see online so I wonder if it’s in store only.

    1. That sounds adorable! This store first rather than online first retail strategy is a bit backward, no? Especially when there’s no online marketing like social media to let people know what to find in stores.
