Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Going to Madewell to return.
I’m bored already with J.Crew current stuff...looking forward to next week’s mini roll-out. Is it mini?

  2. I went yesterday to return the Gingham Ankle-wrap Flats. Sale was an extra 30%, but given that it’s all lonely summer misfit pieces (and yes, last year’s Pink Houndstooth skirt!), it will take much lower prices to move that stuff. Anthro’s sale section was much more interesting with lots of sweaters and even a few holiday pieces.

  3. Heading to store to return stuff.

I've been trying to be better about what I buy but I did go a little nutty trying stuff with the sales and I was feeling a little guilty about that...

Of course, it doesn't matter anyway because it's ALL going back. I don't think I've ever returned this much stuff.

But I did finally get an extra % off code in one of the packages. Maybe the mini roll out will be better? :/

  4. I do have returns from my 11/24 purchases. The chino skirt in size 0 was too small on me in the waist (and the fabric was very overpowering to my frame so I ordered a 4P, waiting to see if that works better. Also returning the suede pumps with croc heel. Seems I was in between sizes on that one. The vamp was a bit low cut for me but I really liked the rest of the shape and the heel height. Oh well.

Who has successfully called for price adjustments with the current 35% off new items promo? I have actually never done this with J Crew. Does the same item color and size need to be in stock for them to issue a PA?

    1. I usually just email for a PA and they've never been strict about requiring the same color/size to be in stock for me.

    2. Thank you! I called and it was the easiest PA I've ever done. The SA confirmed there will be promos this weekend as well.

    3. I called and got price adjustment for all my items bought in the past week with no issues.

  5. I'll be in NYC this weekend so hoping to pop in to Brookfield Place or the one near Union Square. Lots to do in a weekend so we'll see what happens :)

  6. I’ll be stopping by tonight with a big return. I’m returning the tie back top in stripe, penny top in cotton and pleated lace top. I’m keeping the penny top in silk. Everything is a fit issue but I just had a baby. I’m interested in checking out the star tulle top. Could be a fun holiday outfit with lace pants.

    1. I saw the star tulle top in store and the bottom part fabric looked like a worn/faded t-shirt. Didn't quite get the fabric choice on that one.

      Delete
    2. Yes it was just a t shirt on the bottom and also looked like it ran really tiny and tight, from looking at it on the hanger.

      Delete
    3. Oh thanks for the info! I’ll skip that top then and wait for the rollout next week. I have a $25 card and I don’t want to waste it on something I’ll just return.

  7. I stopped in yesterday to make another return. I went to the other store in my area. They had refreshments...cookies and drinks, which was nice. Anyway, I tried on the V-neck two pocket sweaters. I like the style but they looked like I'd owned them for years and had worn them a lot. They already looked half worn out. Tried on the easy pant in matte crepe. Really short on me, the fabric felt icky and I hate all the elastic waist bands the Crew is using! I left with nothing. Stopped in a Madewell but didn't see anything I wanted. Came home with just a couple flannel shirts from Target that my husband liked much better than the flannel shirts I bought him from Crew. And they were half the price.

  8. My Cameron Tartan pants arrived last night. The colors are great; they are fully lined, not itchy at all - yay! I love the slightly cropped length and the slim leg - very flattering.
I ordered my typical size and one size up. My typical size was way too tight, size up just fits. There is a gap in the back of the waist but the hips have no extra room. Need to try them on again tonight and decide if the size up works or not.

    1. Happy to hear they arrived and are nice. Hoping I receive my shipping notification soon. At this point another weekend goes by where I won't have them for holiday festivities.

    2. Just got my shipping notice - so should arrive Tuesday. Glad to hear they are nice!

    3. I got a shipping notice for the size 6 but not the 4. What the heck. Sounds like I will need the larger size anyway. Just odd.

  9. My backordered factory sweatshirt with the Tartan Ruffle collar and sleeves finally shipped so I will report back on that when it arrives next week. I have continued to look elsewhere for a few pieces I need. Received a few pairs of jeans from BR factory that I purchased over Black Friday. As others have pointed out the denim selection at the Crew is not great. Ordered a pair of black coated denim, a boyfriend style and a straight leg style. After all the codes and rewards each pair was between $21-$24 and the fit is pretty good. For the price I will be keeping them. It is sad I can't count on my favorite store for staples any longer.

  10. Hello JCAs, someone inquired about the in-store promo. They are offering 30% off full-price merchandise + additional 20% off if you use your JCrew card. They are allowing you to bundle up multiple 15-20% coupons. The sale is marked 30% off and they didn't allow the additional 20% off for sale, but you can bundle coupons. A lot of new stuff I saw on sale like the Dover houndstooth blazer and the crepe pants, which would be cheaper if kept full-price, since you can bundle more discounts. This promo is until the weekend, but they said it might be better like 35% off on Sunday...no one knew for sure. The SA in the store are clueless about new promos, they said management changes the plan daily. They also informed me that phone-in CS will honor all price adjutants for up to 7 days, which is very irritating since they change the % off daily. Anyway, I won't be going back to the store this weekend. I want to avoid the crazy crowds.

  11. Any Janey owners out there? I’m eyeing some on eBay, wondering if they fit TTS, and also happy to hear any other feedback in them.

    1. Me! I have them in three colors, but I mainly wear the black. They are my go-to shoes when I have to be dressed up but don't want pain. I'm a size 8 and wear size 8 in the Janeys. My feet are on the wider side, bony/not delicate, with a bunion on one, and they're TTS for me and don't hurt. The gold on the heel dresses them up a bit which is nice because the heel isn't that high. But it's not so dressed up that you can't wear them more casually. I recommend!

      Delete
    2. I second cate's comment, I am an 8 and took an 8. They were a bit of a pain to break in, and I have a high arch so on days when my feet are a bit swollen they cut in a bit. Mine have stood up to almost daily use (bought them at retail when they came out) even though I have scratched the gold heel a bit with all the wear. The patent looks brand new though, with just a tiny nick at the back, so super durable. The inside hasn't wrinkled or lifted, but it has discolored a bit. Well made, durable and so cute, I say go for it!

    3. Anthro Blogger, I agree about their durability. I haven't bought J. Crew shoes in a long time, I wonder if they're making them this well now.

    4. Thanks to all, I appreciate the info. Sounds very promising!

  12. I was in and bought the club collar perfect shirt. The collar is really cute. I sized up in this. The online reviews say it runs small and I agree.

I tried on the shirt jacket in buffalo check but I didn't like the fit on me. It was boxy and unflattering. I usually like boxy, but this one wasn't doing me any favors.

I bought the mock-neck cable knit sweater in nickel. I wish I'd noticed this when the red color was in stock, although the online reviews say it's more orange/neon so maybe I wouldn't have liked it after all. It's cotton/nylon/merino and feels pretty good. I can live with that blend. I agree with the online review that says it has a shrunken look to it. The sleeves are almost full length but not quite. The length is almost cropped but not quite. It's a little bit boxy. My regular size fit well.

I'm on the fence about the Heritage sweater. It's definitely TTS or runs a little large, but I wouldn't size down because of the length. I wish it were a little longer. The knit is very pretty. I'd wear something under it. It's probably itchy. The price is pretty good now so I'll probably keep it.

  13. Stopped in at Factory and scored the Midrise Skinny Jean in Velvet for $20. Even though I have several pairs of velvet pants I couldn’t resist the Dark Wine colour.

  14. Stopped in for returns at both stores and didn't try anything. I should have tried the sateen pants from Madewell in the larger size because I ordered them and they haven't shipped yet but oops.

Gap had 50% off with gap card and a special on women's vests, $25, but in comparison to the J.crew vest they felt flimsy and looked cheap. Worth all of $25, maybe.

  15. Not excited to find my $25 card from J Crew is really just another promo code. That can't be stacked. Makes it worthless for me. Thanks for the ad in the guise of a gift, J Crew.

    1. If you contact customer service they should be able to apply it to an online order for you. I agree it is a pain though. Especially since you now can stack codes on line.

    2. Yes if you call CS they will apply the $25 card after the fact. I was able to do this with my birthday $25 and CS was very helpful.

    3. Thanks, JessF and bythelake. Hadn't thought to ask CS.

    4. That's good to know Sarah! I finally found something I want to use my $25 off on, but I didn't have one of those stackable coupons. I do have to wait for the next promo that works on sale though.

    1. Yesterday it was 30% off with an extra 20% if you used your JCrew card. I did hear they were not allowing the extra 20% off sale but there was nothing of interest so I didn't find out for myself. Supposedly the promo was changing but no one knew what it would be.

  19. Does anyone have the black “lace top with pleats”? I’m wondering about the length in the regular. I’m 5’7” and am worried that it would be too short eps if I lift my arms. Thx!

    1. Hi Jan, I’m 5.7 and tried the top. It wasn’t too short for me. I do have a very short torso. I have it on my IG venicegrl7. It’s a beautiful top. I ordered my usual 0. The one I have on is a 00. It was a bit tight on my shoulders.

    8. Jan, if you are very skinny on top with skinny arms 00 would be fine. I found it a bit tight on the shoulders when you move around. The length of the arms and length is also shorter. Hope you find what works.

  20. If anyone has been interested in the Open Front Sweater Blazer (G7746) that is usually excluded from J. Crew promos, the Heather Khaki (camel) colour is 40% off at Nordstrom, but only a few sizes left (M-XL).

  22. This is a review, not a visit, although I may go in this weekend to do a return.

The sparkle tweed dress was a surprise love. I was super mad at J crew for we-wishwehadenough-ing the rest of my order, and was going to return it sight unseen, but I tried it on and whaddya know - it's great. It was very fitted - I took one size up from my normal size, and the regular size hit at my knee, which I like. The sparkles are pink and silver, which you can't really tell from the stock pic, but for me it was a pleasant surprise and would factor in me keeping the dress because it's unusual. The waist ribbon is cheap velvet - don't love it but could see myself replacing it with good quality ribbon. The dress is thick and substantial and would be a winter closet staple.

J.Crew agreed to honor my coupon so I'm trying to figure out whether I can do a combo order to use it (the dress ended up being $82.60 so I need to spend about $68 to get my $50 off.

  23. I stopped by Factory for pajamas for gifts and everything was 50-60% off. Interestingly, there was practically nothing in the sale section, but when I visited my retail store a week ago, the sale section was bursting with everything from OTS summer mistakes to recent acrylic-blend sweaters.

Wasn’t really tempted by anything else - I reminded myself that in 3 weeks the window to wear all holiday motifs and most tartans will be over, and I’ve already got plenty to wear for that time frame.
