J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. Hope everyone had a great holiday! So now sale is 30% off but everything appears to be final sale. No thanks. I am done taking final sale gambles. A lot of the items are still fairly pricey. Not worth the risk.

    1. totally
BR has 60% off markdowns, and the item I ordered was ready for shipment before lunch
      ATaylor 70% off markdowns,

      and no Final Sale

problem is that it's likely that few customers will buy at 30% FS and that stuff will just keep hanging around

    2. Kate, thank you for that post. I rarely shop BR but placed a nice sized order running the gamut from blouses and pants, to jewelry and shoes. All bargains. I'm very excited to see what works!

  2. Agree with Jess above about the lackluster sales incentive.

There are, however, a few new items on the site that interest me: Drake’s for J.Crew silk shirt in black multi horseback floral, a Love First tee in dusty petal and dark evening, and a silk tie-front top in three different patterns, all of which I would buy if the silk is more substantial than the abysmal excuse of papery silk used by Madewell. Love First tee’s typeface and shirt colors are so beautiful and evoke a fuzzy warmness akin to watching an episode of Reading Rainbow. As such, this tee might be my first slogan tee from J.Crew!

Contrast ribbed turtleneck H1838 is a versatile piece that stands on its own as a sleek little number and layers beautifully under sweaters, shirts ,and tees. I already have all three of the original colors and plan to get the two new colors in nude rouge and navy natural. Hope they come out with more color combos in the future.

Will report back on my experience with the navy ribbed popover H4160 arriving tomorrow. Tried on the small in heather seaweed in store. The body and sleeve lengths were perfect except for the width of the body. I sized down on the navy version to an xs, which should be just right. I love the color, style, and material, which is light but warm. Thank you to B Sheils for answering my question about this popover way back in a reviews post in mid December!

    1. I saw the new Drake popover last week at Brookfield. It is sheer.

    2. Just checked out the new Drake top online-the print looks gorgeous, but the sleeves appear short, and the description says it is cotton (twice)??

    3. @ eeps, well then, monies saved. :/ I’ll just resort to buying the hankerchief version, since my neck requires less modesty ;)

@wendy, yes you are right! The top is made of cotton! My pre-coffee brain automatically assumed an $120 top is made of silk and not cotton! I

    4. I wasn't trying to correct you, Namora-more wondering "aloud" whether J Crew's description is correct, or whether this blouse is (more likely) made out of silk. I, too, would expect that of a Drake print-esp on a $120 top, as you pointed out.

    5. Also want to add that I agree with you on the ribbed turtleneck. Got it in black/white and love it. Will definitely pick up the the nude combo when it goes on sale!

    6. @eeps J.Crew:breathable, JCAs:sheer.

I am ordering it to try, since I like the color scheme. I'm not smitten with the print, but I haven't seen it in person. It is included in the 30 off THANKYOU promo mentioned by Wendy.

    7. @Sarah Folz - I actually do like the print quite a lot, enough that I saw it from across the store and made a beeline to see it up close. I need a "breathable" cotton top in the middle of a Northeast winter like I need a blister before a long hike!

    8. I hope I find it attractive, if not a necessity!

    9. I thought Drake's is always silk?

Its a pretty print. Do report back if you decide to keep it, Sarah.

    10. @wendy, no worries! Hahhah!

@Sarah, I’ll also keep an eye out for your review of this item! Thanks in advance!

  3. Got an email yesterday from J Crew for 30% off full price styles thru 1/10 with THANKYOU. Also, some full price "cozy" items are apparently still 50% off with CHEERS.

I just chatted with someone who was obviously temporary holiday help, and thus was no help (trying to exchange a gift I received). Ah, well. First-world problem. :) Ordered the correct size and will try to sort it out in-store once it arrives. Hope everyone is enjoying the holidays!

  4. Mentioning that the Collared Tippi (sans pocket; still navy; $5 less) has returned, since I recall another JCA saying they missed out on it first issue.

  5. I have to say I'm really loving my tartan Cameron pants. I got them in an 8, same as the other Camerons I have. They have been super comfortable for parties the last two weeks and I wore them for Christmas.
