Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. If anyone is interested, BR is having a one day flash sale of 40% off everything. From what I can tell, there are no exclusions, even for collaborations (Giles & Brothers, Elizabeth Cole, Todd & Duncan cashmere). I got some of the Giles & Brothers jewelry, which I've never seen go on sale anywhere. Pricey, not not fine jewelry, but classic and cool...

    2. Use BRTHANKS if you have a Gap/BR credit card for an additional 10% off (good until 10/31).

  2. Curious to know if any Boden fans have tried their Chino Tunic Dress WW039? I already know I'd need the long length, but I'm curious about the fit and fabric. I also love the Harriet dress, but will have to wait until next year as the sizes are already cleared out. Also, it's my first time checking out the Boden site. Do they run many promotions?

    1. I haven't tried the chino tunic dress, but they do have 20% promos often which is about as good as they get as far as a percentage off regular price goes. Code 4S8C should give you 20% off right now.

    2. Thank you, Violet, I appreciate your help.

    3. Like Violet said, 20% is about the highest they go (25-30% occasionally). They pretty much always offer 10% off with free shipping over $49 and free returns. They have an awesome return policy! You could check out Dina Gideon's IG or her blog (mysuperfluities) as she reviews a lot of Boden clothes. She also sometimes links to other "Boden blogs". I haven't bought much for myself lately but I love their clothes for my daughters!

  3. Pure Collection's "wool coat" -- appropriate product name, as it is 100% wool. I ordered the "deep sapphire", which is a lovely saturated dark blue with an almost velvet-like nap and sheen. The wool is thinner than, say, JC's stadium cloth; I'd only wear this in temps between 30-50 degrees. Sizing is similar to Boden's, approx. 1-2 sizes smaller than JC (ie, their size 2 = a 0 or 00 at JC). Blue and red are on clearance for $150. There's also a lovely "smoky taupe" still at the original $350 price.

  4. The Free People 'Not Your Brother's Utility Jacket' is coming in at a net price of $69.99 plus free shipping at Macy's with the current promo they are running. They only have it in the Moss green color now, but I do have the jacket in camo and absolutely love it! So much so that I paid full price for it! It is supersoft and well made, too. I actually ordered the green one from Macy's today because I love the jacket that much! Here's the link if anyone is interested. Free People Jacket. They have sizes XSmall-Large still available. I tried both XSmall & Small in the camo, and kept the small so that it's more comfortable in the shoulders and for layering.

  5. Boden is offering 25% off your order, plus free shipping & returns on $49+ until this coming Thursday during their birthday celebration. I've shared my personal picks, as well as a link to my IRL pic of the Anna Dress in this post.
