Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  2. Thanks to Doodle D for giving the heads up on the markdowns. Ordered the denim sheath, cherry print items and some new balance kicks.

  3. Is the sale section back up to 40% yet? I'm patiently waiting...

  4. It is only 40% off if you use your J.Crew card, my store still had 30% off on sale today. I did use my J.Crew card to got the Corduroy Campbell blazer in masala chai that just got marked down last night. I wanted the cord blazer last year but never pulled the trigger. I had an item that got a $40.00 sale price adjustment so that helped greatly with the blazer. I think I will get a lot of wear out of the blazer. My office allows jeans on Friday but I always like to put a blazer on to look a little more professional.

    2. @jodi, it's 'CARDTREAT'. Happy skipping!

  5. OT: Spotted a couple of majesty peacoats from 2014 at the TJ Maxx here in Middle of Nowhere, USA. I can only imagine what goodies must be showing up in more metropolitan areas.

  6. Purchased the heather pink sapphire cocoon coat last weekend - this color is absolutely beautiful - just have to have the sleeves taken up - as the petites were all gone - now I just wish JCrew would bring back the collarless double cloth coat from two years back....

    1. YES! The Sabrina! Last year's quality wasn't good. I have the one from two years ago.

  7. I visited a store to make some returns and only had a minute so I HAD to try the double breasted coat in Oxford check. I really liked it. Great color and pattern. The fabric is typical wool, not super heavy but not as light as a blazer. I think for the milder winters it's a fine weight—you wouldn't wear it in a snowstorm or rain, nor to sit at a football game, but for going to work, to dinner, going out...it's a pretty dress" coat. (The weight is similar to the side zip trench in wool from last winter). It runs a little big in comparison to last year's lady day coat. I could probably squeeze into a 0 but tried the 2 and it was comfortable. (I have a broad upper back from working out and often size up in coats.) I wish it was more nipped in at the waist, it's pretty straight.
The skirt looks adorable but I imagine the length won't work for many people and I envision a bunch of them on the sale rack—I hope to snag one then.

Sale section at my store was 30% off and final sale, unlike Madewell where the sale section is 30% off and not final sale. Newer items in there included the navy ruffle blazer and cherry print popovers. (Lots of both.)

I only had a minute and when I tried the coat I asked if it was 30% off and the SA thought it may have been excluded. She was going to check but I really didn't have time to wait. Got home and saw it was 30% off and my rewards were available online so I pulled the trigger.

    2. The coat looks lovely on you, Suz! I have been waitlisted for the skirt (in tall length for extra coverage), and it looks as if it will probably be shipping out to me this week. I'm pleased to hear the colors are pretty IRL.

    3. Yes. Classic. The olive is kind of subtle, it reads as very neutral. They show it with cobalt blue but I think it would look great with so many other colors and leopard. Pink, yellow, red. I'm actually tempted to get a pink sweater—I really haven't worn pink in years.

  8. Has anyone seen the DOUBLE-CLOTH LADY DAY COAT WITH THINSULATE® in PALE PEACH? It looks like I would expect on the picture with the model but when looking at the item page it looks much brighter. I'm actually hoping it is brighter as I've been waiting for a true orange color. I saw the FUCHSIA BLOSSOM in store last weekend I think the item page shows a pretty accurate representation.

    1. I ordered the pale peach. I'm petite but took a regular because the petite lady day I've had for 8 years is too high in the chest and too short in the arms.

The pale peach is more starburst orange than any type of peach, but I actually love the color. Tang orange. I was worried the peach would be muddy like the mauve colors they've had in the past.

Fit was off to me...too big up top and weirdly tight in the hips. The double cloth felt more plasticky than my current lady day (from 2008!!!). Maybe it gets softer the longer you have it. A lot of the darling, tailoring details aren't there in the 2016 version.

Mine's going back - I paid $255. I paid something like $79 for my 2008 lady day and it's much higher quality!

    2. Thanks for the color info. I'm disappointed to hear the fit was off! I have more Lady Day coats than I care to admit and the hips have always just fit so if they've made changes I'm sure the hips will now be too tight for me as well. Ugh. Well, I'll probably wait to see if it hits a sale plus promo price before trying it

  9. Went in last night to return, and purchased the crystal cluster necklace in navy for $60 (marked down to $100 less 40% for cardholders) and the crystal.blossom necklace for $72 ($120 less 40%). I've had my eye on the crystal blossom necklace since it came out but already have several Jc gold crystal necklaces and couldn't justify full price. Glad to find it as it appears to be sold out online (and was sale priced higher, at $138).

  10. Still waiting to receive the avery heels that I ordered a week ago (Canada shipping takes a while). Glad they shipped though. I might go in while I'm out of town to return a ballet tee which is much shorter than my other in the exact Color and size.

Can anyone help with the cotton Jackie shell sizing? I'm worried about it being too short. Thx!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi Jan, I think the Jackie shell sizing runs slightly small. I'm a solid medium in most J Crew tops, and I think a large fits me better, I'm also 5'10" with a long torso and both the shell and cardigan are to short for me. Sizing up doesn't help any with length. I don't know why J Crew can't make these both in talls.

      Delete
    2. I'm 5'9" and second the motion for Tall sizing in cardigans and shells! I wear size L in J.Crew sweaters, but I rarely buy Jackies because of the length.

      Delete
    3. Thanks ladies! I'm 5'7" so shorter than you both but still concerned with length. Thank you for pointing out that sizing up doesn't help length.

      Delete
    4. The tall selection continues to shrink, literally. Sadly tall shirt lengths are shorter with a smaller selection to choose from with each rollout. There are never any tall sweaters. (I'm 5'11")

  11. OT, but whatever happened t J.Crew's driving mocs like the Lizzie and the Positano? I'm not a huge ballet flat girl, and pointy-toe flats are definitely not for me, but I always loved the look of J.Crew's driving mocs for a casual, classic flat. They were in fact, my first two shoe purchases from J.Crew some years ago, and it took me a few wearings to realize that they were a little too small for me (I eventually figured out that I'm a 9.5 in J.Crew shoes), but I held onto them as I loved the beautiful leathers so much (silver, and a gorgeous patent brown). Were these ever offered in half-sizes? I've faithfully watched eBay for years but have never seen a 9.5 offered. Should I go for a 10?

    1. @shopgrrrl, I have held onto my positano brown leather driving Mocs for years even though they're a bit too tight and not very comfy because of that. They are classic and its so hard to part with them. I have them in my usual sz 9 but for some reason they were snug. I'm sorry I dont know if they came in half sizes.

    2. @shopgrrrl - your post caused me to search my closet and was thrilled to find the Montebello suede driving mocs in a gorgeous gray suede. They are a size 9. I generally am a 9.5 but these 9's fit because they have stretched some with wear. Ideally, though, they should be a 9.5. I also have a Positano pair in black. I do recall that the driving mocs unfortunately did NOT come in half sizes. I, too, would LOVE to see J.Crew bring back their driving mocs. Fabulous shoes!

    3. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one hoarding my driving mocs! I've looked at countless other brands/styles, but haven't found any I liked as much. I Thank you both for the feedback. I think if they had fit better I would have worn them into the ground by now.

  12. Went to J Crew and then made rounds to Lululemon and Anthropologie. Wanted to see New Balance gear in person, but University Village store didn't receive it. Placed an order for Drake Pink Bengal silk pants since I knew VPS could locate them. Used rewards to offset so price seemed reasonable. Lululemon and Anthropolgie are both having good sales, so worth a visit.

    1. @mygoddy, question re) using rewards - have you received the physical card or email, or were you able to use the rewards via website somehow? My husband was placing a big order tonight and I saw the website said 'you have x number of rewards', but couldn't see a way to apply them. Another JCA also mentioned using them so was curious what you guys did? TIA!

      Delete
    2. You could just copy the card number and pin to apply to your order. Very easy!

    3. Thanks, Suz Has - I haven't received my rewards card yet and I didn't realize others had already started getting them (woot woot! Lucky!) I just thought there might be a way to apply them without physically having the card. Anywho, thanks for the info, I'm sure mine are on their way!

      Delete
    4. I didn't get it either, but if you click on the button that says "your rewards status" or similar the numbers on the card will come up. It's all available online now!

      Delete
    5. When you go to your shopping bag there should be a little window above your items with the jcrew script logo that says something about rewards status and a clickable link for more info. If you click it the details should come up. I don't remember exactly because I did it already and don't have any rewards left!

      Delete
    6. Ah ok, I'll look for that link, thanks for the explanation, Suz Has!! That option is exactly what I was hoping for! I'll have another look later today. Thanks again! :-)

    7. @Suz Has thank you!! I did something similar by just logging into my J Crew account and I saw the link for checking my regards status . And voila! The gift card & pin was there.

    8. Hi! Had trouble finding it too.
It is the last entry on the "My J.Crew Account Home Page" after "Order History". "J.Crew Card Rewards Status"

  13. I've shared a review, styling idea, and IRL pic of the Icon Trench in Plaid Italian Wool on my blog today: Simplified Style... J.Crew Icon Trench in Plaid Italian Wool. The Lucite Heels in Velvet are also included in the look, along with IRL pics - absolutely love the shoes! So comfy plus a great neutral, too.

  14. No store trip for me but I did order a few things Friday with the new markdowns - the circular stone necklace in warm fig and the polka dot Sloan flats which popped back in my size.

OT, I shared some fall work looks on my blog featuring the camel Regent blazer, Cocoon coat, cotton Margot blouse as well as some older J.Crew blazers and Banana Republic Sloan pants. I've shared these on Instagram over the past few weeks but if you missed it you can see the post on my blog here.

  16. I visited Friday to return the Charlie Loafers in wool flannel. Ordered my usual size of 5H, and it was very tight. Feels like I had ordered a 5. I wanted to reorder a 6 but its sold out; It's sold out on all sizes. So if anyone is interested in these, take caution and order two sizes.

When this CARDTREAT ends, I hope the next promo will be 30% store wide..I am itching to pull the trigger.

Also, I can't wait to see the Holiday style guide/roll-out!
