  1. If anyone is looking for a coat, this is a great sale. Lots of this year's coats are added to the sale section today, with an additional 30% off. I find it a little bizarre that it isn't even coat weather yet in most parts of the country, and these almost-new-arrival coats are already 50% off (after promo). I got the diamond tweed coat -- cannot resist that pink. And the field /mechanic jackets are also a great price.

    1. Saw that too & ordered that coat & downtown field jacket in green. The fabric on the coat isn't my favorite but for more than 50% off, it works. I think J Crew figured out they had an issue with pricing because now all of those items are sold out. I also ordered the excursion vest in cabernet during the glitch. I discovered the vests last year (I know I'm late, ha) & really like them.

    2. Oh my gosh, you're right! Did not realize it was a mistake...

  2. This rollout is smaller than I expected. I thought November would be a big one. Wish there were more warm sweaters but they're mostly thinner ones.

    1. Much smaller than I expected as well....J Crew is definitley cutting back.

    2. Yeah...no festive holiday wear?

    3. I miss their holiday tees.

    4. No cute dresses, skirts or tops to wear to holiday parties. :(

    5. A lot less Tall options. I guess a couple extra inches of fabric are costing them too much.

      Delete
    6. agree, I need more Tall, and the full range of Tall sizes too! I would love to see some items like sweaters and vests in a Tall as well, while I'm dreaming...

  3. Some cute things. The Gayle sweater, the starts t shirt and stars tippi, velvet blazer.

  4. The Long Downtown Field Jacket is at a really great price with the current promo. I wore my navy one on a family road trip this past Sunday...it was chilly & rainy in the town we visited, plus snowy on top of the mountain, and I am very pleased with the performance of the jacket. It kept me dry in the rain, and warm enough in the chilly temps with a sweater layered underneath, plus I love the longer length. I've shared a pic of the jacket on my blog today: Road Trip - Philipsburg, Montana.

  5. Love all the new stuff wish it was on promo, none of things I like are on promo ;(, I especially like the Oxford check coat and skirt.

    1. @Anna Maria, that is the one thing I wishlisted over the weekend and today it says that it is completely sold out. Wondering if this a glitch or if that's really the case (because if so, wow, that was fast!)

      Delete
    2. Also, I should clarify that I was referring to the coat. In Regular, it says that it's sold out, but it's still showing up in Petite (& possibly Tall, i didn't check).

      Delete
    3. Hi TM93 I managed to get it in petite, I'm 5'3, it's on backorder until 11/1, they have it tall too.

  6. Finally received my catalog yesterday. Some cute things, that pink velvet blazer is darling! Fashionista.com had an article that pink is still strong for Spring 2017- glad to hear it! With the high in Atlanta today at 86 I don't need to rush to purchase anything but will definitely keep my eyes on the promos

  7. I had the Long Downtown Field Jacket in my cart at $117.60. Got up to answer the phone, came back and it's now full price. So frustrated by midday pricing games. I just emptied my cart of everything. JCrew just lost a couple hundred dollars worth of sales because of my frustration over one item!

    1. I have cancelled large orders for less....I get just as frustrated with pricing for Canadians.

      Delete
    2. That stinks! It seems like it might have been one of their many website glitches though. There were other coats that were showing up priced much lower than normal just an hour ago, but now they're showing up under their normal price. I don't know why JC has this problem with their website so often. :-(

  8. There must have been a website glitch because this morning I ordered the Cocoon Coat in Hthr Sapphire Pink (new color from this rollout) and was able to get it for $171.50!!! I also ordered the quilted excursion vest and was able to get it for $62.72. The Chateau Parka was down to $178.85!! Crazy! All items are back to regular price without promo

    1. Hi - just ordered the Htr sapphire pink as well - how did you like the color in person?

  9. I'm so glad I ordered the Cocoon coat this morning, I hope they honor the price

  10. Kicking myself for not ordering a few coats this morning! I had 3 in my shopping cart and held off trying to decide which one was the best choice. Now they're ALL "sold out"? Really? We all know it's just that someone made a pricing error. All of these items will be back in stock. The items were still in my cart but showing a more recent price, not the sale plus 30% they had this morning. I don't blame JC for correcting the mistake, I am just frustrated that they aren't 1) transparent about it and 2) might consider honoring the mistaken price for those of us who had items in our cart.

That said, I love a lot of items in this rollout.

  12. I wish they would come up with some new coat, blazer and sweater designs instead of just rolling out the same stuff they've had for the past 5 years in slightly different colors. Why are you going to pay close to full price for a new cocoon coat when you can get one off ebay NWT for half price? I doubt this is helping sales recover. I don't want crazy new designs because that won't help either, but maybe throw us a bone? I put a total of 2 things in my cart and then didn't check out because I realize I won't get that much wear out of it with my new job.

    1. Cass, I agree. I could maybe talk myself into buying a winter coat, but not the exact same styles I already have. I have a few Cocoon coats already and that's already too many. I don't want crazy new designs either, but it seems like there could be some middle ground in their coat offerings. They had some other nice styles that they've discontinued that I'll bet would do well if they brought them back. The Boulevard Trench was nice. The military style coats were also nice. They could do a menswear inspired one without making it ridiculously oversized/dropped shoulders.

      Delete
    2. Yup. They used to do various different styles in the double cloth fabric--you could look forward to something new each fall. Also maybe some new puffer styles? They didn't even bring the wintress puffer back in any new colors this year...just black. I used to love that coat but gave up when they stopped properly reinforcing the snaps and they would tear the nylon fabric when you pulled the snaps apart.

      Delete
    3. Hi Cass and cate - good points, especially with Factory churning out the same designs as retail. You would think that most people that wanted a Chateau or Cocoon coat would've gotten one by now (either retail or factory). I think that wool check coat must've hit the sweet spot because it's almost sold out. To me, it's understandable to have a model like the lady day coat in different colors every year because it's such a basic shape, but I think they've been running out of steam on coat design for a few years now.

      Delete
    4. I am soooo ready for a deep purple Winters's coat!

      Delete
    5. No Wintress puffer? I hadn't noticed that. I bought a navy one over the summer but it was leftover from last year. I'll be surprised if they don't have the Wintress puffer (or a replacement style for it) in the next rollout.

      Delete
    6. We have the wintress puffer in store.

      Delete
    7. Yes they have one, but just in black. No short puffer jackets like they used to have.

  13. I ordered the Toggle Cape in navy early this morning while it was at a lower price with the extra 30% off. Has anyone tried this cape? It gets great reviews so I wanted to check it out.

  14. Ha ha, can you imagine the frenzy at JCrew HQ this morning? Some product manager has just arrived and is sipping her coffee, casually looks at the website....OMG, what is going on? Freaks out (as in a real freak out, not the kind that JCrew emails have been trying to convince us we're having for the past few months), gets on the horn to IT...."Fix.This.Now." and then the ensuing post-mortem meeting were fingers are pointed all 'round the table as they try to figure out how this happened. I'm just sorry I wasn't home to take advantage of it, kind of like how I missed out on the gingham cashmere debacle this summer.

    1. Oh dear, this comment made me giggle more than it should have! Pretty sure that is exactly how it went down, shopgrrrl! (Seriously though -- if they're in such dire straits right now, where every penny counts, why, why, WHY isn't there a way to triple check these glitches? I admit that I don't peruse other retailers' sites as often as I do JC's, but I've never heard of this kind of thing happening elsewhere, like say, at BR, or Ann Taylor, etc.) It would be one thing if this was the first time ever, but this has happened before, with several examples from other JCAs. Oh well, whatever.

    2. I wished I needed a coat when I saw that, because those were actual Freak Out prices. Sadly I did not, but it seemed like a shame not to take advantage of an opportunity like that. I'll bet a lot of people did, though, and someone is probably in a lot of trouble. I'll bet they sold a lot of Cocoon coats and Chateau Parkas this morning!

      Delete
    3. I honestly wish I would have waited. I ordered a coat at the end of September and yeah I got a good deal but who can beat this glitch!

  15. Remember when I asked if cocoon coats go on sale lol!? I snagged a black on this morning for the 171$ price hope it ships! I mean how can it not ?! It's not like it was 1$ glaring mistake, I paid money it was on sale I better get it!

    1. It will be $171 or less by the time Thanksgiving/Xmas deals come...so they're better off moving the merchandise now. I doubt they would have sold so many at the higher price.

    1. I don't mind the idea of it. It might be kind of cute if it were done in a lightweight cotton as a casual spring dress, but I can't imagine how I'd make that work for the holiday season like they suggest. The statement it makes is, I'm confused! And it's $695.

      Delete
    2. @Cass, I have to agree with you here. Ooof, why? The fabric, color, style, everything is just a big no. I'm actually embarrassed for this dress.

      Delete
    3. I have to agree. That is the ugliest effing thing I have seen in a while. It's like country bumpkin fancy. Also, what is with JCrew and all the spring colors and patterns? I'm no seasonal color purist, but some of this stuff just sticks out. I love Fall/Winter and look forward to the rich colors.

  18. I saw the glitch this morning but didn't need any more coats so I passed and the fall foliage tee was already gone in my size, it was only $17.00 I think. The new jewelry is not good IMO but there are at least three pairs of shoes that I will be stalking.

  19. Epic glitch. Maybe the worst to date. Hope all that needed a new coat ( or was eyeing the new twin set in argyle ) snatched one this morning. Very tempting.
I should be posting this under reviews but in case someone is debating ordering the slingback flats / dark pacific as they are on sale .. These are very pretty. Comfortable out of the box, tts, and the color combo just perfect. Hth

  20. This may be the worst November rollout I've seen in at least ten years. What is going on??? Where is holiday? Where are the cute tops? It's all the new athleisure line! And I thought this month might redeem a less-than-stellar fall. Oh well, at least I'm saving money...

    1. I agree. There is zero in this rollout that I am interested in at any price. Looks at though JC is headed in the wrong direction, again.

  21. There were actually lots of issues this morning like no sales tax was ringing up. I bought a pair of shoes in store and no tax. They said they didn't know what was going on but saved an extra 9.25% on sales tax. Forgot to post this earlier.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Did a preorder of f8239 the lambswool shawl collar sweater in the blanket stripe. The colour is heather timber; fancy name for a medium brown (colour sounds very lumberjack).

I'm betting this one sells out as it was well featured in the fall/winter fashion show for 2016. I should have it tomorrow; review to follow.

  23. Couldn't take advantage of the epic glitch this morning - I just don't need another Cocoon Coat or Chateau as I have both already. Agree w Cass that the double-cloth fabric lends itself to lots of styles and it's underrepresented. Also cashmere blends. The quality might make me cringe but I'd love a new version of the Harriet with the gorgeous piping and lining fabrics.

I'm not on board w the New Balance athleisure. Way too late to the party, J Crew. It's not that cute, not that functional, everyone already has a ton from the established brands, and it will all be on deep markdown in six weeks. I'll stick w Zella at Nordstrom.

  24. I was up early this AM and ordered a lot on the glitch, I didn't realize it was one until I read jca later today! the PLUSH FLEECE EXCURSION VEST in golden for 67.62, the FALL FOLIAGE T-SHIRT for 15.92, the THREE-QUARTER SLEEVE BALLET T-SHIRT in navy stripe and warm ruby and white for 14.45 each, and the EXCURSION QUILTED DOWN VEST in black for 58.80. Pretty excited!!!

  25. Coat glitch is back up and running as of 9:45pm PST. I was feeling bad for missing out this morning, but funny things happen on the Jcrew site around 9 PST (or midnight Eastern time). I quickly checked out with my $171 Cocoon Coat in deep violet and going to give the Field Mechanic Jacket a try. I noticed some of the items (such as the long downtown field and the cocoon coat) don't show the sale price unless you actually click and open the page for that specific item; so if you are just browsing through all coats, you may not notice the red sale price unless you click on the item.......Quick ladies! Go get those coats!

  26. I was hoping for some holiday sparkle although it was 80 plus degrees in Maryland yesterday. It seems like the workout stuff might have been a better fit for a January rollout with the New Year fitness resolutions rather than November when I'm looking for festive and fair isle.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think the timing is wrong for the workout line too. New Years or spring would have been better. People are not in the mood to buy that kind of thing this time of year, and it's not an easy thing to buy as a gift like a scarf/hat/gloves would be.

      Delete
    2. Cate, I completely agree. Right after New Years would've been a perfect time to release the Athleisure Wear. So bored with this roll out this year. However, a few small one owner boutiques just got my money as I have purchased a few really cute fall/winter plaid items.

      Delete
    3. I like the NB collaboration although I'm used to buying Athleta or GapFit (both with Gap rewards) so I probably won't try any NB without a promo. The Outdoor Voices stuff I picked up from JC is super nice so other JC activewear has a high bar to hit. My workout clothes get a lot of wear and wash so the quality would have to be decent, and I just don't know if JC can pull that off.

      Delete
    4. I've had several pairs of NB shoes and loved them. I'm very tempted to try a pair of the Mesh Sneakers. Has anyone tried these?

  27. Stopped at my store yesterday and looked at the new arrivals but nothing struck me as a must have. I liked the star Tippi, though I think I would have preferred black to navy. The Collection cropped pant with patch pockets look awesome but I didn't have the time to try on. Would have loved a different color though, the blue is very Springy and the chartreuse not easy to pair.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I liked the star Tippi, too, but wished for silver stars on the navy instead of gold. The table sign said 30% off but the SA told me the "novelty" Tippis were excluded. I'll wait for a promo on that one as it is a want and not a need.

  29. I bought several items yesterday shocked that they were on sale - flannel excursion vest, chateau parka, tunic cable knit sweater, plush fleece excursion vest. 2. It was curious - the parka was on sale for regular sizes only. I just assumed there was an issue with sizing so they marked it down. But I love the coat so thought I'd give it a try.
And the blue sweater - it just came out. I assumed it had an issue with the material, but I love the style and color so went for it anyways.

    3. JcrewFever, glad you got such good deals! I got a coat too. Ina reviewed the tunic sweater yesterday on her IG (inawonderland5) if you're interested. Looks like it runs pretty big.

      Delete
    4. I received everything today and LOVE it all! Yes, I agree. The sweater is large. The back of it hangs almost to the back of my knees. (I am 5'5") I got it in an XS. I'm going to stop in to the store to at least try an XXS, but I suspect that I'll keep the XS. I tried it on with Billie cropped jeans and pumps. Cute, casual.

  30. To be fair (and you know I'm critical of JC, ha!), the holiday rollouts usually begin in November - according to JCA, last year's first holiday rollout was on November 10, so it should be in a couple of weeks. I'm interested to see what they do with Holiday this year - will this be the first one under Somsack's direction? I hope it's at least seasonally appropriate - JC seems to have their seasons mixed up this year!
