"Looking to VENT" with J.Crew

This is the weekly "Looking to VENT with J.Crew" post, a place to share our not-so-stellar experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including poor experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. This is not a vent. J Crew's pricing glitch is back. So, if you missed out earlier on the "freak out" prices on coats, new arrivals, etc, you have another chance.

    1. Cocoon seems to be regular price now. Chateau is marked down though.

  2. The pricing games drive me nuts, but today I ordered sale items at 30% off that were 40-50% off last week. I'll keep my eyes open and ask for price adjustments. Kiki cap toe popped back in what I think is my size (I've worn a 9 in Kikis in the past but lately need 8.5 in everything) and I didn't want to miss them.
Also, Madewell has extra 30% off sale and they seem to do pretty well with basics for me in black and white, so I ordered a few tops and another pair of jeans, because I just have to try them.

  3. Not a vent, but I will be in Kansas City, MO this weekend. Has anyone visited the J.Crew there? Anything great I should do, places to eat, etc.

    1. I was at the Country Club Plaza J.Crew this summer...I was in town for a conference and had to sneak away for some shopping. Country Club Plaza is great. The J.Crew was a little underwhelming, but to be honest, I've felt that way for awhile now in most locations I've been to!

    2. Hi! I live in KC and find the store at Town Center in Leawood to be better than the Plaza location, but you can never go wrong visiting The Plaza in general when in KC. Welcome!

  4. I just noticed that I had missed the croc embossed biella loafer. They are gorgeous.

  5. The vintage crop jean in ecru is on backorder/re-order until 01/2017! Yikes! ;(

    1. I've ordered back ordered items and they've always come much more quickly than the website shows.

    2. I've had a different experience and found that at least in two cases, the Backorder date was really true. (Ordered a Field Mechanic back in April that wasn't scheduled to ship until July. July!!) Similar with a recent chino skirt. It really wasn't shipped until they said it would be. I think their Production schedule is seriously flawed.

    3. I have had a Paris tee on back order forever. It is supposed to be shipped around November 11th, probably will be out of the mood for it by then.

    4. Doodle Dachshund, I posted for WellFedFreddy that I'd found two Paris tee-shirts, one Madewell, cute, XS, and the other a J. Crew tee with drawings on it, all the icons. If you want either, I'll send it to you. I want to keep one. I'm a confessed Francophile.

  6. I ordered a sweater online ... nine days later, it still hasn't shipped so I called CS. They said it was coming from a retail location and should ship today or tomorrow. It's a basic item and they're not low on stock, so it's not like they had to hunt it down for me at a store.

If I'm placing an online order, I expect a new item to be shipped from a warehouse within a couple of days, not a shopworn item from a retail location that ships in ten days.

    Vent over.

    1. This happens too often at JCrew. I don't think they realize that this is super annoying to customers. I hope you get your sweater soon.

  7. I'm really tired of the super sheer t-shirts. Purchased the new dot tee and the floral print one yesterday but did not have time to try them on in the store. Both tees are see through. I'll probably keep the floral print one because the print is very dense in the front and I'll be wearing a cardigan. Come on, J Crew. I know you can do better!!
