JCA "Help Style Me!" Weekly Post

This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this post) says it best, "You know, that thing you bought because you love it and you keep pulling it out and then putting it away without wearing it?"

Please share your J.Crew item (either that you own or are thinking about getting) that you would love help creating an outfit with.

Also, please help out by offering your styling advice. Feel free to include links to your blog (where you incorporated that piece) or to Polyvore (where you showcased an outfit with that piece). Thanks in advance! :)

  1. Last winter I purchased the wide leg wool pants in black and the dramatic long length meant I could only wear them with really high heels. I had considered hemming them and finally did. I know there was another wide leg wool pant in a cropped length, but I wasn't crazy about the pleats of that version.
I opted to hem them to just about the ankle bone so I could wear them with heels or flats. I really loved the full length, but just putting these on at the new length, they felt kind of fresh.
I have a nautical themed event next week and I expect it will be chilly, so I'll wear a blazer over a sleeveless top (I think the wool peplum). (It's not a costume party but I thought my star Elsies would be a fun element—coincidentally the blue matches the trim inside the Rhodes blazer). I posted my black blazer options on IG. @wearthislikethis.

(My mom already said she hates the blue star pumps with the black, but since I'll be wearing all black and they fit the theme, I think I'm going for it, quirky as it may seem.)

  2. Off topic but a lot of items moved to the 50% off sale section today. Too bad they are all summer and I don't want or need any of it. Wish there were some new markdowns.

    3. @shopgrrrl, it should be at the bottom of the landing page for the Sale section (the one that directs you to 'Women/Men/kids, etc.' It's at the bottom of this page (at least on the US site - not sure what it looks like for the Canadian site.) I think all the stuff in this section is usually Final Sale.

    4. Thanks, I see it now, but I swear it wasn't there this morning! I was using my phone, many the mobile site wasn't showing the red 50% off link or something. I'm on my iPad now.

    1. I usually buy Madewell jeans and find I always have to size up at J Crew. Madewell jeans are shorter though! Regular fits my short legs perfectly!

The Lucite Heels in Velvet are also included in the look, along with IRL pics - absolutely love the shoes! So comfy plus a great neutral, too.
