Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Crew this {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

  5. so i bought the PERFECT SHIRT IN DASH-DOT IKAT (item c6279) and i like it... but the one i got is more of a stripe than a dash... so i reordered it so i can compare... maybe it's just a certain batch? but has anyone else noticed this? or is there another similar white and blue shirt that i may have gotten instead? the tag was the correct item number on it.

    1. I bought this today. It's more like a short line but that's a dash, in theory. There aren't really many dots. I think you got the right one. The sales lady in store today said that they are sold out online (maybe some will pop back) and it wasn't on sale so that tells her it won't go on sale BUT she couldn't been trying to sell me one today! And, she did. It's cute!!

    2. The one i got has the dashes almost connecting so that it is more of a stripe than having space in between for a more dash effect.

      I'm so confused.

I guess I'll see what the new one looks like and make a decision between the two. Hopefully it ships .

    3. Sorry to comment again! I looked at the website and mine looks *exactly* like the print on the models arm (hard to see the print on her front since it's so unbuttoned). If yours doesn't then hopefully you did get a bad batch.
Also the reviewers said it runs a tad small- made me feel better because I experienced the same thing. But, could've gone with my reg size just felt more comfortable going up one. Hope your second one looks like it's supposed to!

    4. ha ha! no worries on the multiple comments... i'm always happy to hear opinions from JCAs about the items i am interested in...

i also had to go up a size as well... so it's just jcrew sizing inconsistencies!

    5. MissJR, Audreybella reviewed this shirt on her blog recently (Life is short, buy the shoes). You might be able to see it better there.

  6. Ok....40% off shorts. I need some army green shorts. So I go to the site, find them, add them to my cart.....and they are backordered to October 12th. Why would I wait 4 months to buy a pair of shorts? I wouldn't. Ridiculous.

    1. Yes! There's a dress I really like that's white linen with black sleeves. I need a Tall and it's back ordered until August. Well, white linen in late August - I'd wear it like twice? Poor planning.

  7. My local store today had an extra 50% off sale and the top I went for (honeycomb cocoon top) was 30% off sale online but 50% off sale in store. Score, plus no shipping fee or waiting. (GREAT top BTW, but size down x2).

  8. I was so disappointed this past weekend - I went to both the Factory and J.Crew. First, my Factory Store (in Vaughan, Ontario) is just sad. I had marked out about ten items I was interested in online. My store had one of the ten items. The sales person said they don't receive many of the items they have online and for some reason their warehouse was "holding back" a bunch of stuff. I tried on the wrap-front romper. It was cute, but I felt like a contortionist getting in and out of it - I can't imagine going through that process every time I went to the bathroom. I left with nothing.

Onto the J.Crew store in Yorkdale Mall in Toronto. They had many of the items I wanted to try (but none of the nice spring colours in the tippi :( bummer!), but nothing fit properly. Everything was boxy and long. Here's what I did try on:

Honeycomb Cocoon Top: I was really in love with this top online - I actually really liked the material in person, but it was really big, really long, and the shape of the bottom was a bit strange. Didn't work for me.

Merino Linen V Neck Cardigan. Colours are nice, fit was just wierd. I sized down to an XS hoping that maybe it wouldn't be too boxy - no luck. I could have fit three of me in the body. And it was short too. Not sure why they even bothered with buttons on this - it was just all around wierd.

Metallic Foil Tailored Bermuda Short: I liked these. They did fit pretty large - I think I sized down quite a bit - like even more than last year. To give reference I took a 4 in the crepe pleated shorts from last year and sized down to a 2 in these. The ivory bronze looked more versatile and wearable in person than the navy gunmetal. Unfortunately, I couldn't really see myself wearing them in the end, so I left them behind.

Ladder Stitch Silk Shell in plumb orchard. This was gorgeous. Unlike some of the reviews I have seen, I didn't have a problem with the see through part. With a nude bra underneath, I didn't notice bra straps at all. The colour was amazing. Unfortunately, I couldn't get the sizing right, which often happens to me with their blouses since I have a larger chest (34D). To size down enough to fit properly in the body, it's too tight in the chest. Sadly, I walked out without this.

Unfortunately, I walked out of J.Crew with nothing too. So bummed out! I really hope J Crew gets it groove back soon!

On the bright side, I had better luck at Ann Taylor. The Ann Shell is amazing - similar look and fit to the J.Crew Jackie Shell but softer and a tiny bit longer. My store doesn't carry the Jackie so I was happy to find this. I also picked up the Crepe Wrap Top - absolutely gorgeous and super flattering.

  9. Honeycomb cocoon top- you have to order TWO sizes down (so lame) but then it's actually a really awesome shirt - my current favorite.
