JCA "Help Style Me!" Weekly Post

This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this post) says it best, "You know, that thing you bought because you love it and you keep pulling it out and then putting it away without wearing it?"

Please share your J.Crew item (either that you own or are thinking about getting) that you would love help creating an outfit with.

    I would love styling ideas for the seaside pants. General ideas are awesome, but esp with white or gray. Thanks much!

    What's everybody wearing over sleeveless tops with drapey/ pull-on bottoms? It's cold in my office. Cardigans seem wrong/frumpy with this style pant.

      Great idea. I loved the look of the Regent Blazer in barley. Unfortunately I couldn't get the sizing to work for me. Any suggestions for a great alternative? I usually need a petite in blazers. TIA

      I've personally been doing the cardigan thing...I have a lot of the longer J.Crew merino cardigans/Tory Burch simone cardigan and I don't mind the look. It probably depends on the cardigan though. I usually wear heels with the soft pants so maybe that helps streamline it. I haven't tried a blazer yet with it, that almost seems too formal with that style pant. Will be interested to hear if anyone else has a different suggestion! :)

      Same - long cardis with some kind of heel / wedge is my preferred work look with soft pants.

      I like wearing the pants with a longer drapey cardigan and heels too. Maybe also try them with a kimono style shirt/jacket.

      I'm not wearing heels...I wear strappy flat sandals....maybe I just haven't found the right cardigan. I like the idea of a silk open jacket to elevate my look in the absence of heels....if I find something that works, I will post.

    I tried on the factory striped shirt the other day. Really liked it. TTS, nice fabric & slimming. Reviewed here.

    A little off topic, but I have a review request. What are you all thinking of the Garment Dyed Linen Swing Sweater? I've probably missed reviews. It looks cute and it's not the dreaded drop shoulder, so I'm interested in it - especially since this summer has been a bust weather wise so far - could probably use a few extra summer sweaters. TIA!!

      Hi Jruby - I got this in the olive moss color. LOVE the shape and found it TTS. However, the linen does get nubby/has a tendency to pull after one wear, and I definitely think it will be a one-season sweater, which is why I wouldn't pay full price. The cuffs also bag out if you wear them pushed up.
