Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Went Thursday to make a return at J.Crew and Madewell.

Madewell store has an extra 30% off sale items.
I received my online order of the Garden Top in indigo stripe c7144. Stripe obsessed. Love the swing style of this top. Was a little worried that I might look prego wearing this, but it wasn't the case. Ordered an XXS and XS, and since I'm 36B, I kept the XS instead. This will pair well with white skinnies.

J.Crew store is 50% off sale items. Didn't see much I like from the latest roll-out. I did try on the Notched shell in embellished Polynesian floral, and the dress of the same print. Nice thick cotton fabric. I used to be a 4 in Jcrew dresses, but I think a 6 would've worked. The 4 didn't work for my body type; it was tight around my chest/tummy. Sizing was off.
The shell I tried in a 2, and didn't fit, so I tried a 4...and felt tight. I think a 6 would've worked for me. it doesn't have darts, that's why I had to size up my usually size. The shell is really cute and gave it that 60's feel, especially the coral beading. It might be glued?? I like that it was made in cotton and not poly, the print wouldn't look as vibrant if it was made in poly. Oh, thumbs down on the exposed zipper (again!, sigh). I wish it was a one button closure.

  2. PS: J.Crew cardholders get 20% in store on full price items this weekend. Not sure if you can stack it with the ongoing 50% off sale items.

    1. Yup, got the email earlier today. Not as exciting as it seems:
"Offer can only be combined with storewide discounts on full-price items. Offer not valid on select crewcuts, fine jewelry, petite, wedding, Collection, men's suiting, Wallace & Barnes, Garments for Good or third-party branded merchandise"

  5. the other day i commented about the PERFECT SHIRT IN DASH-DOT IKAT
(item c6279) and how the dashes were more like stripes.

well, i got the second shirt and it's definitely more dashes... like the stock photo on the site... so the first one i got must be some kind of misprint so back it goes. it's not bad, just not what i wanted or expected.

  6. I'm struck that the sale section has so many items from last summer and fall. Is that common for other retailers?

    2. I thought one of those 5-day-sale would be some 70-75% additional on the final sale items. They've been there for months! Get rid of those already, JCrew. Clearly no one is interested in it at extra 50 or even 60%. Clear that rubbish, start anew. It's just sad at this point.

I didn`t purchase anything today but did at both stores on Wed, They stacked the 50% off....took my $20 off $100 . I had two coupon and used one at each store. Nice deals for us can. considering our dollar. My items were cheaper for me than in the US. for example I was able to get the marlow mules for $31 and change can. bring on mores sales like this J Crew.

    4. The author is right about one thing: "money talks", and America have spoken.

    5. I didn't really understand the logic in the article. J. Crew had nothing to do with the runway for most of its years. If they've made runway fashion accessible to me, I haven't noticed it. But they do/did know how to make basics look cool, and that's why their customers love them, IMO. It's kind of magic how the basics bought at J. Crew will look much cooler than the same basics bought at Talbots or Lands End. But J. Crew wanted to make a quick buck by sticking jewels or words on all the things and not bothering with darts or tailoring. And the basics were mostly taken out of the stores, and many were just discontinued with no replacements offered. Where are the chinos? what replaces the Matchsticks? what replaces the Cafe Capris? they keep throwing out new names ("Maddie" "Dani" "Campbell"…) but they don't have any staying power. Where are the Perfect Shirts? Why can't they keep their bread and butter around while experimenting with new shapes and styles at the same time? I'll always give J.Crew some love, but I don't love all the things, particularly during the dark period they've had the last couple of years.

    6. The author kind of glossed over the quality issues. To me these are the key to any realistic recovery.

Those of you with tolerance for long documents may find it interesting to browse through this. Executive compensation packages and contracts are discussed at various points, a partial summary of Jenna's begins at page 55.

    7. cate, I agree with no replacements for our old favorites. I recently asked what happened to Café Capris'. Sadly my SA didn't know what Café Capris pants were. I guess I'm immune to all the clothes with jewels and stupid sayings since they've been doing them for so long, but what made me think "ummm.....how cool is that?" was all the elastic and drawstring waistbands this year. Seriously, these just yell....."I'm an old person (or a child) and want to be comfortable in my clothes!". Cool? Not in my book. It says cheap and easy to produce. I can't tell you how much I hate this trend.

    8. Stray Cat, I just purchased the tailored crop pants from Gap. They are similar to the cafe capris IMO. Not a lot of fun colors but the navy and black filled a void in my summer wardrobe. They're really inexpensive in store, too!

  10. I stopped in to return my lost (then found and delivered) package. So I had a problem, the lady before me had a problem and was losing her patience and the lady behind me had a problem too. And the phone was ringing off the hook. But....the staff handled it with expertise and grace. Makes up for my call the other day asking to have an item put on hold. The item was gone off the website so I did not know it's number, but I knew it had gone into sale. I described the item in detail and told the young woman it was a sale jewelry necklace. She seems very disoriented and well....completely unaware. I AGAIN described the item in detail when she finally said "what are see bee?" I said " S. E. E. D. B. E. A. D. S."......nothing. No response. I said "do you know what seed beads are?". She (very slowly) said no. I asked to speak to someone else. She said the other person was busy. I hung up. So.....J. Crew. Please do not assume that everyone knows what seed beads, sequins, tassels, embroidery, scallops, flutter sleeves, laser cuts, dip-dye, ombre, ikat, chevron, eyelet, burnout.....blah, blah, blah, ARE. Please educate your sales people!
