It's Back! Extra 30% Off J.Crew's Final Sale

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Adina (in this post), who shared the following email & news from J.Crew.

J.Crew is offering customers to take 30% off all sale items (no min) and free shipping (on $100+) with promo code HELLO30. The 30% off offer expires September 2, 2013 and the free shipping offer expires September 1, 2013. (How random that they end on different days- and only by one day too?!) The fine print includes:

*Offer valid on the purchase of final sale items in J.Crew stores and at jcrew.com from August 30, 2013, 12:01am ET through September 2, 2013, 11:59pm ET. Offer not valid in the 769 Madison Avenue store, the Liquor Store, Ludlow Shops, J.Crew Factory stores, at jcrewfactory.com or on phone orders. Offer cannot be applied to previous purchases or the purchase of gift cards and cannot be redeemed for cash or used in combination with any other offer. Offer not valid on Wallace & Barnes merchandise, men's suiting, wedding gowns and third-party branded items. Discount on qualifying retail-store purchases will be applied at the register. All sales are final. No exchanges or returns. To redeem online, enter code HELLO30 in the promo code box at checkout. Limit one promo code per order. Offer valid in the U.S. and Canada only. Terms of offer are subject to change.

Free shipping valid at jcrew.com from August 30, 2013, 12:01am ET through September 1, 2013, 11:59pm ET on purchases of $100 or more before shipping, handling and taxes are added. Orders will be shipped via regular shipping (3 to 6 business days) and return requests must be made in accordance with our return policy. Offer valid in the U.S. and Canada only. Terms of offer are subject to change. .
J.Crew finally brought back an additional percent off their sale online and in stores. Especially since there is so much merchandise just sitting around. (It's been over 1000+ Women items for weeks now.) Plus, J.Crew finally dropped the prices on some pieces so it might be a good time to check out that piece or two you had an eye on.

Is it just me... or does J.Crew need to do a bit more to get final sale items moving? Again, very happy to see an additional percent off their sale. However, I am personally shopped out at J.Crew right now so I am not even tempted by this offer. It just seems like the same stuff I have seen for awhile. I am oddly more interested in J.Crew Factory with their new offerings.

Will you be checking out the Sale section? Are there any items you are hoping to see or to get?

  1. Agreed Alexis. I looked through the women's and kids stuff this morning but didn't ultimately buy anything. Might stop by store to see if I can minimize my final sale risk.

I continue to be perplexed by JC's approach to kids pricing for items like sandals and shorts. The prices this season were very high and they didn't decline much. So the kids sale section is very amply stocked with shorts and sandals, but parents don't buy those items at the end of the season, no matter what the price.

    1. Totally agree about the crewcuts pricing! So odd the shorts and capris never went on super discount. I did grab a few things for next year for the kiddos when there were some good deals in store a month (+) ago, but otherwise not much for them.

  2. Whoah. The Interlock Henley is showing up as $13.31 this morning. Typo?

I posted a review elsewhere but will do so again. I was excited about this shirt. But I found the top loose, and the bottom tight. I got my usual XS--what I almost always wear--and couldn't get the shirt to work and sent it back. So, beware.

  4. I hear you, Alexis. It's still in the mid-80's here in the Northeast, so I'm not in the mood for fall clothes, but don't need any more summer stuff. I swore off buying final sale quite a while ago and don't feel like I've missed out on anything. I'll continue to hold out for some kind of cardholder promo before September 15th.

    1. Me either, Cate. It has given me much more time to get other things done in the morning, lol. I have too many sweaters purchased on deep discount in the spring that I need to wear first - already picked up a couple new things for fall and don't need anything else!! Things I like that I haven't bought, are to similar to what I already have also.

      Delete
    2. Suzy, me too. I bought a few cashmere zip hoodies and boxy boyfriend sweaters last spring in the sales that I am still waiting to wear. Until I wear what I have, I don't feel like buying more. I also think we're in an in between spot weather-wise here. Not quite shorts weather but definitely not sweater weather either.

    3. Same for me. I'm shopped out at J. Crew for a while. Still waiting to wear alot of the great stuff I've gotten with all the promos.

I will probably get interested again with the October/November rollouts.

  7. I bought the seashorse tee from in store and the herringbone puffer vest at outlet. All shopped out. I am planning on buying zero fall clothes this year from J.Crew unless they come out with something extra special that doesn't cost $300. A first for me in YEARS. The only thing that might tempt me is a card holder promo with % off AND free shipping.

  9. So, there's a popback I really want to try that's pretty expensive. I won't do it unless I can return if it doesn't work out. What say you all? Should I call CS and ask for some specification? I don't really trust them to do what they say, honestly, b/c I had a hideous experience w/them promising to do something a while back, that never got done. Thx!

  12. Bummer: I was hoping for another store-wide sale since I was away during the last one. I'm still going to pop into the store though and see if there's any early fall appropriate items on sale. Or perhaps an outlet run--I haven't been since June! While the weather is obviously warm in Boston through September, my office gets less casual after Labor Day so I have to start transitioning out of my summer brights sooner than later.

    1. In my B&M there were tons of long sleeved shirts and capris on sale, few of the tippi sweaters, some wool dresses and the short sleeved silk blouses in all 3 colors (green/blue, white and a pretty violet/pink). I believe there are more Fall items on sale (or promo) online than in store. For example, the wool pencil skirts are on promo with 30% off in 3 colors (tan, grey and black)

  16. I had the henley shirts in my cart and then they were sold out (or J. Crew realized the pricing error? and yanked them) while I was looking for other items to add. So now I'm not making a purchase, there's nothing I need to have. I wanted those shirts and was looking to see if I wanted something else to make the shipping minimum. Not sure if I just feel shopped out with them altogether or if the selections are boring me that much.

  20. I was thrilled to see last year's printed wool scarf in the hot pink floral pattern pop back this morning. I was actually, just last week, begging the factory store in lynchburg to sell me the one they are using as a changing room door decoration and they refused. and I am glad I bought it at 7:30 this morning because it seems to be sold out again.

  21. I'm pretty excited about my purchases. I've been eying some of these for a while not and thought today would be a good day to get 'em!

I got the following from the Final Sale today:

    1. Collection café capri in metallic foulard (Blush)

    2. Boy shirt in sea horse (Seahorse Indigo)

    3. Liberty toothpick jean in June's Meadow floral (Navy multi)

  25. I got the Vintage short sleeve pajama set too, as well as the regular one, as long as they weren't final sale. Even though they are final sale, and I've never tried them one, I did bite on the blue linen-cotton pant. On another note, I was in the J Crew Factory at Arundel Mills Mall in MD today and they had many sizes left in every other color of the Factory Excursion vests and also lots of the Polly pants that are similar to the retail Pixie pants. I picked up a pair trimmed with faux leather today and they are really cute on. They also had one of the Sequin Owl tees in a L.

  35. A little OT: This morning I returned the Double Monk Strap Shoes in the barn red in a size 7.5 to the Pioneer Place Store in Portland, OR (ph: (503) 228-2739). 38. I picked up the Collection denim bomber (item 21999) on popback this morning. Shout out to my online VPS who matched the in-store sales price for this item, honored my sale promo and stacked my student discount. With the 30% off sale, this item went from $595 original price to approx. $110 before tax. I know I look like I am gearing up for a throwback casting call of "Thiller" but I am excited.

Has anyone else had their student or teacher discount honored by their online VPS? I was a bit taken aback when she offered - I hadn't asked because I thought they couldn't/wouldn't do it. I'm appreciative as my sizes are rarely online. This isn't good for my back balance.

Congrats on your good deal! I'm not a student/educator, but from what I've read it's been hit-or-miss with the online application of the discount. Last I recall they took away online, I guess, because they couldn't verify who is a current student. Having an email wasn't considered verifiable as alumni have school emails as well.

    3. Wow, good for you! My online VPS doesn't even waive shipping!!!! Sent her an email about a purse I wanted to purchase. She responded 4 days later (no out of office response was received), in the interim a pair of shorts popped back in my size and I asked her to add this to my order, however she simply did a second order and charged me shipping again!!!! I thought she would simply cancel and reorder the purse to get the items on the same order hence one shipping charge since I responded immediately (under the 60 minute cancellation time).

So I simply cancelled the order for the shorts...not going to pay $10 for $20 shorts!!!!

Done with VPS, much easier and cheaper to do it myself!!!

Sorry guess this was a vent.

      Delete
    4. LizT - If you have one regular price item on your order, the VPS is supposed to waive shipping. I don't work w/online VPS anymore. It's like trying to catch a fly w/chopsticks.

    5. Yes, I am done. I never buy full price items so the service really makes no sense for me. Funny I never asked for a VPS they just keep sending me emails, cards etc so I thought I would try it out. Not sure why they don't look at my order history and see I am a sale / promo shopper?

      Delete
    6. I agree. I'm not sure I understand the point of an online VPS. I had a customer service question the other day with Factory. Thanks to a post from a JCA, I had called and pre purchased the jewel collar warmspun sweater in carbon black (not yet online). When I called back a few days later to check status and confirm the order (I had never done a pre sale with J Crew before, and wasn't sure if I was supposed to receive an email confirmation), they transferred me to a VPS who told me they didn't do pre sales for Factory items, the customer service person I initially worked with was mistaken and the pre sale would not have gone through. Well, lo and behold, I actually received an order confirmation for the sweater yesterday, so the VPS was wrong! She also suggested that I work with an online VPS, and I was honest and told her that I liked to shop on my own in real time, catching sale/ coveted items before they sell out, etc, etc. and that one of the reasons I shop with a big retailer like J Crew is so I can call customer service 24/7 and get help when I need it, particularly given my full schedule, not when my VPS happened to be in the office. She was very nice and all, but I personally am the type of person who likes to shop on my own and use SAs and VPSs when I have a problem or need assistance with something, and not feel beholden to one particular VPS. Quite honestly, since I'm quite the crafty and savvy shopper, I've always been able to do a better job at finding items, getting price adjustments, etc., than the VPSs I've worked with, especially with the help of the JCA community:) I know a lot of JCAs have written glowing recommendations about their VPS. Maybe I just haven't found the right one either.

      Delete
    7. I have purchased a lot more from J. Crew since I started using a VPS. I do buy quite a bit of sale/promo items and I still think that she provides me with great service. I can only make it to a store about every other month so I rely on my VPS a lot. I also love this community and find all of the reviews and reports exceedingly helpful!

      Delete
    8. I personally feel the in-store VPSs are more useful than the online ones because they get to know you more--they see you in-person, know your body type, age, personality, etc. and actually get to see you in the clothes. I feel the online ones are more helpful for the super busy customer who needs someone to help them pick out some new outfits fast and efficiently and are not concerned about price.

      Delete
    9. I totally agree. Having someone to advise you and make suggestions would be great...I definitely need to switch to an in-store VPS. While vacationing I was in store and worked with a SA that brought items in for me to try...it was nice to have a second opinion.

  39. I just posted reviews of the Merino Leather-Pocket Sweater in the heather granite color, and the Collection Leather-front Cardigan in navy here. I felt the gray in the pocket sweater ran smaller than the black one (or at least the ones I tried). I really liked the navy in the cardi.

  40. Hello everyone - I am a long-time lurker and love love love JCrew like all of you. I love the tees and shoes offerings most. While there are a lot of items on my Wishlist right now, for example the Calf Hair Martina Wedge, the Getaway tote and additions to my vintage cotton tee collection, there is one thing I will not be buying - the cashmere! I am just appalled that J. Crew cashmere cardigans I bought just last year are a pilly horrible mess and wouldn't even wear them out of the house. I have been buying the cashmere for years - since 2007, and I have totally seen the quality decline over the years. I now call it disposable cashmere be/c in the past couple of years I have found myself throwing out the sweaters at the end of the season and repurchasing so I could have a great sweater to start off the new season. Ridiculous and can't believe I did that. Oh well - lesson learned. I now buy my cashmere from other places - picked up two rugby stripe cardigans at Nordstrom last winter made my Pure Amici and let me tell you they look brand new and I haven't had to shave them once! I have read over and over again over the years that people love J.Crew's cashmere due to the great color offerings but guys, it doesn't matter how great the color is or big of a deal you scored if they don't hold up. Just be careful. Happy shopping! :)

  45. There are so many of the new Excursion vests in the retail store right now. It looks to me like they are not selling well at all (except for the striped one possibly). Maybe J. Crew shouldn't have released the Factory ones at the same time. The solid retail colors are very similar to the solid factory colors. The Herringbone one was a huge hit again. I remember last year you could hardly get a solid colored vest on popback.

  46. I stopped into one of my local stores yesterday and got gray tippi with shoulder embroidery. It's full-price online but was marked down to $69.99 in-store. I liked that it had a sweatshirt look to it even though it's a sweater. I believe others have mentioned issues with the shoulders but I didn't notice anything odd and got my normal tippi size.
I also tried on the paneled stretch dress in colorblock. I really liked it! The fabric was substantial and the length wasn't too short. The fabric description online is "stretch jersey" so I was imagining something thin and clingy. I only didn't buy it because I'm trying to wait for the next promo on full-priced items since I missed the last one.
