Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SUMMER sale, or to see some new SUMMER arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  4. If you are petite, there is a Schoolboy Blazer in Prince of Wales wool for sale on the site now in size 00, for $99. If you take the %30 off, that's %70. Such a deal for a stunning blazer. I got mine on popback and love it and can't wait to wear it. I really hope someone from JCA picks it up.

  7. OT, but what did I miss re: Garance and J Crew? Is something brewing, like a collaboration? Or is she just modeling their clothes or styling their shoots...?

  8. If anyone is thinking about ordering the boy shirt in snowcat, I took my smaller size--4. I can wear a 4 or 6 in shirts. Hope this helps anyone who is interested.

    1. AD MD, I had the same issue when I tried on in store. So ended up buying a 6 without 30% off and then yesterday bought the 4 and 6 with 30% off, so I can walk around in it and decide which one is a better fit. I thought it ran a little big.

      Delete
    2. I thought it ran big too, but for what it’s worth, I’ve never owned the boy shirt style before. I tried on my usual size 6 and it was big, but gaped between the buttons more so than the perfect shirts. Really liked the fabric and the pattern in person, but once on, the colors just didn’t compliment my skin tone, so didn’t bother with trying on the 4.

      Delete
    3. I found this to be the same with the oxford boy shirts that are not on sale. I take a 4 or a 6 in tops (6 on bottom), and my friend and an SA both said the 4 looked better.

    4. Well heck, I ordered the snowcat shirt in my larger size and now I'm not sure that was the right choice. Shirt sizing is always an issue for me anyway. I'm larger in the bust so fitted shirts tend to pull over the chest, but loose, shapeless shirts make me look big all over. Plus, sleeves are almost always too long for my stubby arms and I'm not fond of rolling up the sleeves. I spend a fortune on alterations.

Speaking of alterations, I ordered a couple Liberty print shirts. (Yes, at full price. Don't judge me.) The sleeves are at least three inches too long for me. I compared them to some older Liberty print shirt in my closet and the sleeves of the new shirts are at lease two inches longer than the older shirts. Are they making the sleeves longer? Has anyone else noticed this? I'm not too excited about paying $150 for a shirt plus paying to alter it. :(

  9. Please tell you have done this.....I returned something to J. Crew yesterday and then in the middle of the night I woke in a sweat. WWAAA! I want that back! I called this morning at 8:30 am and (phew) it's still there. WHAT is wrong with me? I have a terrible habit of guiltyly rushing back returns then 2 weeks later wishing I had the item. I have to trust my initial jut instinct....it's always right. GEEZ!

    1. You are hilarious (if maybe just a little crazy)! I totally have a JC problem but I cannot help you here -- have never done this! (But that may be just because I keep far more than I should...)

      Delete
    2. I have NEVER done that. My problem is that I hate to schlep items back to the store on the train, so I try to rationalize keeping items that aren't particularly flattering and I'll rarely wear. If I return something immediately, you know it's truly awful.

  11. OT but is anyone else uncomfortable looking at the pic of the girl on the jcrew homepage in the blue liberty shirt buttoned all the way up w/ the junior mints? I don't know if its the full button up, her expression, the hair, placement of her hands, probably a combo all of the above, but it is a super awkward photo and doesn't get me at all excited about what else is on the site. Yikes!!!

  12. More praise for online customer service. I talked with a nice rep this morning. After chatting for awhile, he placed my order which was only $49.99, gave me free shipping and the SHOPNOW discount making the item $34.99. WOW! I so impressed every time I talk to an online rep. They're great!

And I thought I heard rumblings last week about the Crew and Garance but I've had a crazy week and I can't recall what was said. :(

  14. Not much sale stuff in Charleston, SC. Odds and ends - tiniest sale area ever! I did get the polka dot pants, the naomi polka dot top (rang up 20% off), and the optic dot shirt (price adjusted to online price). It's tax-free weekend here. :) My PS had already called in several orders for items that have sold out.
I LOVE the tippi color block cardigan. I really want the navy/green one. However, with how much I spent today and the fact that it will be months before I can wear merino, it will wait.

  15. Just popped in a local store and I did not see anything on sale. I did notice many solid cashmere sweaters and as this is not a store that ever had cashmere before, I wonder if they are now stocking cashmere in all of the stores. Interestingly enough, when I looked online to check the color names, I noticed that all of the cashmere sweaters are designated as "Collection" sweater. I never noticed that before. I might have to check the label the next time I am in a store.

    ReplyDelete

    1. I noticed that the other day online. I hope it doesn't mean collection pricing will go into effect on all cashmere. There have been enough price increases the past couple seasons....

      Delete
    2. Pricing on their cashmere is SO high! The turtleneck is $200. I don't recall them being that much last year. I mean. $200 on a sweater?

      Delete
    3. Pathos- agreed. I only shop cashmere on sale. I can swallow $100-ish but definitely not FP. I think the long sleeve tees used to be around 138. Then 158. 168 last season and now 188. All the while quality has been dropping.

      Delete
    4. I noticed that "collection" name on the cashmere tees, too. *eye roll*

I agree, Pathos. It seems that JC cashmere is frequently on sale for less than $99, so I see no point in paying full price. Actually, I already have so much cashmere in my closet that I don't need any more even at deep discount.

  16. I have to vent. I wear 7.5 and ordered my JC pumps size of 8 in the anchor print Monas. They didn't fit & I'm guessing I need 8.5 or 9 based on how I couldn't get my foot into the 8 at all. I figured 8.5 would be snug, but I wouldn't be able to walk, so I've been looking for the 9s to pop back. I couldn't keep staring at the 9.5s just sitting there, so I ordered them. What is wrong with me? Going up a full 1.5 size higher? But, the toe is Betty Boop small in every Mona I've tried and I'm a regular M width. I'm hoping the 9.5 work out. I also had coffee today. Probably also not the best idea. Thank you for reading, JCAs. lol

  21. Well.....I guess I'm the only one that had to size up one size from my Perfect shirt size to get the shoulders/arms to fit on the Snowcat Boy Shirt. Then of course the body was huge. I passed on it. So if you have larger shoulders and upper arms you may want to try this one on for size.

  22. Today while in Macy's completely undressed in the dressing room an evacuation message came over the PA system. The message said there was an emergency and everyone had to vacate immediately. Then the sales gals started calling out and knocking on all the doors telling us to hurry and leave! Why, oh why did I wear a blouse AND a skirt that both buttoned/snapped up the front! As I'm running out the store I'm thrusting a skirt in the sales ladies face yelling..."Hold this for me!". As I was standing out in the mall waiting to go back in the store I wondered if this was a message from the universe telling me lay off the shopping. Turns out no employee or customer went postal, just a weird smell like burning electrical. No biggy. Takes more than that to keep me away.

  28. There was next to nothing on sale at my J.Crew.

I ended up buying the oxford boy shirt in polka dot, and the material is really lovely. Not thrilled that it's made in China, though.

Has anyone seen/tried on the Janey patent flats? I am really wondering how they fit. They are so pretty, but I'm worried the patent is quite stiff. And that the shoe runs narrow. Any help would be mucho appreciated.

    2. I tried them on, well, I took it off the shelf and stuck my foot in it tho it was 2 sizes too big. I wouldn't say the patent is stiff at all they reminded me of the patent ballet or in between that and the pumps. I have super narrow feet so can't fairly say. I'm going tomorrow to try my real size.

    3. Pathos, let me know how they fit you tomorrow. If they fit your narrow feet well, chances are, they will not fit mine.

    3. I went to my B&M here in Miami and tried on the Janey flats. I loved them! I typically wear a 9.5 in all my J Crew shoes but I needed a 9 in these. When I tried them on, I had a slight gap in the heel and the patent leather has a lot of give and if I had taken the 9.5, I would have ended up with them being way too big after a few wears. I am not sure of the fit of cheetah print ones though. They may be different since the material differs. Hope this is helpful!

  31. Unknown....That was great luck coming on that sale! I had the same feeling today in Talbots. I really liked alot of what I saw. I bought the cutest capris. They are higher waisted than the Cafe Capri which are pretty low on me, they are a little longer too. They're called the Signature Fit Linked-Square ankle pant. They fit perfectly, are super flattering, love the print and the piping all around the waist and on the slit on the side of the hem. And only 79.50. Yah....not $150.00 like some of JC's capris. I'm going to start watching Talbots for more prints in the style of pant. I bought two dresses, a skirt and the capris for $180.00. SCORE!

  32. Went to my B&M in downtown SF today. Bought myself the stripe skirt in orange stripe, and was honored the extra 30% on top of the sale price, yay! The store didn't have anymore summer items on sale. Very, very few items on sale. They must've shipped a bulk of it back to the warehouse. As far as the early fall items, I tried to love it, but it's not working for me, I wasn't feeling any of it. The matchstick jeans are cute but it's been made by every designer throughout the earlier part of spring and summer, from all price point, done with seeing it for fall. I wore a dress today that I got on sale at Talbots and I got alot of compliments. It's called the Marlo Halter dress. I got it in a pretty kelly green. 1. AD MD - I would try 1 or 2 more of your regular size and 1 or 2 more of the next size. Sometimes a size M will fit different between two garments. Someone mentioned cost cutting measures w/stacking copious amts of fabric when cutting the pattern. It explains why two size Ms can fit differently. I do think the zigzag runs on the tighter side up top, near the shoulders which is maybe why you went up. I would wear it on the loose side, personally. I think it's very cute, but it *is* borderline costume-y, imo.

      Delete
    2. I didn't notice a difference with the shirt at my store, but I think it is supposed to fit just a bit boxy. So probably more on the looser side than tighter. However, if it's so loose that it's hanging like a tent, then the best option might be to try on some others in the same size to see if they did cut them differently. You could always get it tailored, too.

      Delete
    3. I will try a couple more of them! My only problem is my stores sold out of them so fast that they only had a couple on the rack! I actually had to order the size small! I'm afraid this may not be the shirt for me, but I love it too much!

  48. This should probably be under Looking to Love...but I had to share. I placed an order on Thursday (one of 3 but that's beside the point) that included a sale priced Cashmere Tee in Neon Pink. I received an email overnight saying "Sorry...No longer in stock...cancelling order...blah blah blah...". OK I said. I'll order it in the Neon Peach, no biggie. Then, around noon, I get a call from J Crew. The guy on the other end said, basically, "Sorry we had to cancel the Neon Pink tee order but we have a similar color from our Fall Collection, the Neon Fuschia. It's almost the same color and we'll offer it to you at the sale price plus the 30% off." Hells yes!

I've never had that happen before. Quite cool actually, IMO. Anyone else ever had that experience?

And, before this promo ends on Tuesday, I'm contemplating a 4th order. I was so good for so long, then...WHAM! All my sale list items were on sale and with a promo. Grrrrr...

    2. Not enabling...but I love the Mona's. Personally, I'd go for the Heatherd Plum but I like a statement on my foot. The black is a great classic and the best thing is after this whole "colorblock" trend is over they'll be back to calling them cap-toe shoes.

    3. The black one is in my cart....:)
I was thrilled to pick up a blazer for only 70 bucks (regularly 329) so I can justify this...:) But, I also got both colors of the heart sweaters...
PLUS a Dooney satchel in Florentine leather..I am in the Fall mode even though it is 98 degrees!
Well, you twisted my rubber arm... now if I could only find a nice pair of boots and a tweed mini pencil skirt.

    4. Can I just add the Lucille dress looks so so much better on the body than in the picture or on the hanger! I got it in green and hot pink...I wore the pink to work last week and I literally got 15 compliments..a few from total strangers!
The green is nice, too..the stylist convinced me to use a strawberry pink skinny belt with it..so cute.

  49. Popped in just to *look* at the new stuff. Yeah, right! LOL! I tried on a bunch of stuff. I absolutely LOVE that brown giraffe? print blouse w/the navy along the sleeve hems and bottom of the shirt. I really want that one. Do you all think it'll sell quickly? I tried on the snakeprint skirt and it really is lovely. I truly don't have use for it, so I probably won't be buying it, but I thought it looked good on. Tried the Tippi cardigan and wasn't wowed. They have a new olive cargo type pant that I also really liked, but will definitely wait that out for sale. Tried on some other odds and ends, but those were the things I remember.

  50. Straycat, i went through Talbots on my way out of the mall. Even after bribing my daughter with dippin dots she was in no mood for me to browse. Saw those cute navy caprIs and I love the binding around the hem. Didn't get to try on but truthfully I was ready to get the heck out of the mall. It was packed with everyone and their brother buying for back to school.

  51. Just had a thought. Remember back in April when they had the 2 secret codes that never appeared on Jcrew's web site. 3 days after the 2nd secret code ended, a real code showed up on the Jcrew site. Wonder if that will happen this time too The pop back I am stalking hasn't happened in my size yet. Of course it did show up when there was no extra % off. Maybe there is hope that my size will reappear when a 30% code is valid if another code is on the way.
