It's that time again, to take a look at an image of J.Crew pieces from seasons past! As caribbelle (in this post) so beautifully termed, "ye olde j crew of yore".
Remember the Elizabeth Cami that J.Crew came out with several years ago? I feel like the ruffle trend at J.Crew can be traced back to this one particular top. After getting this in Navy, I was hooked (and never looked back to wearing collars without some frills).
What are your thoughts on the look(s)/item(s) from the past? Do you find the look(s)/item(s) classic or do you think they are dated?
This top in ivory was also my introduction to JC ruffles. IMO it looks much better buttoned all the way up. Generally I wear it as a layering piece under a dress or sweater, but I wore it on its own the other day and noticed how much the buttons gape . . . just like in the photo.
ReplyDeleteThese tops ran so large! I've bought them in nearly every color (through eBay mostly) and have to go down 1-2 sizes. That never happens to me!
ReplyDeleteI too got this top (in navy) and agree, it ran way too large. I kept the larger size and used it through my pregnancy. But I based my "future" J.Crew purchases on that sizing and leaned quickly that I should stick to trying on the pieces in the store.
ReplyDeleteI have that Elizabeth halter in navy, too. It's an XS and roomy at that! But I like layering it under a sweater or cardigan.
ReplyDeleteRemember the original Elizabeth shirt that came in white with the big frilly collar?
I have this top in cream and I still love it. It's especially great under cardigans or blazers!
ReplyDeleteI have always loved this cami, and still own it in Black and Navy. I also had the printed one, but it was just a bit too large, so I had to let it go unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteI love the skirt.
ReplyDeleteI just pulled this out of my closet to try on for an upcoming event and it's gigantic! I have it in medium and like the other posters had to size down in future purchases. I own it in navy and still love it and want to wear it. Thinking about getting it altered so it's not so large. Anyone try that?
ReplyDeleteIt is gigantic! I have one I got back when it came out in an orangey/red shade. It also needs a special bra. But it does look cute under a cardi or blazer. I wear it w/jeans.
