30% Off Summer Sale at J.Crew {ending today online!}

Another reminder that J.Crew is offering 30% off their Summer Sale with promo code SHOPNOW. Better yet? No final sale. So shop {relatively} guilt free! The promotion ends today, June 21, 2012!

Brick & mortar (B&M) stores are also offering an additional 30% off. Some things to consider:
  • Con: It is final sale in stores.
  • Pro: Prices are better/ lower in stores. Some items are on sale in store and not online too. For example, the Schoolboy Blazer in Linen (Item 76756; $175.00) in some colors were $99.99 (before discount). Also, the Golden Cabochon Bracelet (Item 85033; $68.00) in Kelly Green is on sale for $39.99.
Between the store and online, I have definitely done some damage to my credit card. Just when I think I am done, they pull me right back in with some new items on sale!

Lastly, I am not sure if B&M stores will extend the additional 30% offer through the weekend or end it today. If anyone knows, please share!

Will you be taking advantage of the SHOPNOW promo? Are you loving the new promotion from J.Crew? Did you pick up an item or two? Please share! :)

  1. I heard from a JC SA that it would still be going on over the weekend.

  2. Suzy: That is awesome news!!! Thank you for letting us know. :)

  3. Holding my breath that WWFIFY will find the Raj Paisley dress in-store for me and that I get it at the in-store sale price - 30%. Does anyone know if they don't find it for a few days, will they still apply the 30% off when and if one is located? SA said yes so I hope they will.

It was tough to resist the striped watch straps which are so cute and patriotic! I would have bought them in a heartbeat if there was free shipping regardless of order $ amt.

I also spied the polka-dot popover this morning but not in my size, one size up. After reading bloggers' comments on sizing I skipped it since it would probably be too big. :(

Other than that, the things I want are still FP. Sigh. I'm watching the red origami dress in my b&m like a hawk. I have that dress in 3 other colors and every single time I wear it, people tell me how great it looks on me, LOL. So I consider it a keeper and I want the red one! BTW, has anyone noticed any difference in fit for the wool crepe version of it vs the original (wool flannel) version? TIA!

  4. I stopped by my local B&M yesterday and they told me that yesterday was the last day for the additional 30% off in store. It seemed weird to me though because they still had a TON of sale items.

  5. Lavish Lemonade Stand: Interesting! Thanks for sharing what your store told you.

So will some stores continue running the offer while others don't?

  6. My B&M still offering the extra 30% today and they even called another local store for me to locate a sale item in my size! Sale section was fairly well-stocked for this point in the season and in the promo period. I picked up a few odds & ends and was happy to receive my teacher's discount on top of the 30% off ... I find it is very inconsistent between stores and different SAs as to whether they will honor both discounts.

  7. 30% off still going in SF as of today, Thurs. New markdowns, too, which I am currently compiling. I tweeted a couple earlier to @jcrewaficionada. I.e. anchor sweatshirt $59.99

  9. FYI, I stopped by my B&M to make a return today and they added a bit to its well stocked sale section. A couple examples: the jumbo brulee necklace (95098), on sale for $89.50 online, was $49.99 in store -- less the 30%, it is only $35. These are fun necklaces; in case you couldn't guess, I got both colors. The antique paisley shorts (79123) were marked down to about $45 before 30% off, still full price online. The cece leather ballet flats in gallery green were $79.99, a very fun color. There was one pair left in a 7 if anyone is interested. (Montgomery Mall, MD)

  10. I got the gold Sperry boat shoes (item 20508) for $38 in my store. They had very limited sizes, but there were still a few left. They also had many Ella dress in porcelain paisley for $199.99 and some of the azalea no.2 pencil skirts for $34.99 before the 30%. It's the store at University Village in Seattle. HTH someone!

    1. Wendy - it has not ... I checked ;) I saw the coral color was on sale, and I specifically looked for the mint but it is still full price.

    2. Wendy - neon coral is $69.99 as of today. SF had their sale handbags carefully merchandised so I'm guessing no on mint. I looked, but didn't see it.

    3. Thanks, ladies! I appreciate your help :) That mint color is gorgeous--had to ask :)

    4. I saw on Saturday mint bag on sale at JCrew Crabtree Valley Mall, Raleigh NC. Today sale is still going on. Please call, they might still have it.

    1. Argh! I jus ordered for $62. Would have been $42 in store with discount. Anyone know if store will give the adjustment?

      Delete
    2. St Germain, from my experience the stores are strict about applying the promo when it's in effect. So if you go in next week, if 30% is not happening they won't make the adjustment. They also seem to forget promos and when they were, so refreshing their memory doesn't help. I imagine there are people here who have been able to get price adjustments, but I wouldn't count on it. Maybe you can just buy it in-store and return the other.

  17. I was out of town today and got to go to Somerset Mall JC in Detroit area. I got the red Tessa top on sale for $49 less 30%. I was happy b/c I really wanted that shirt for quite some time. I was so tempted to get the gold Sperry topsiders - such a great price - but passed. I also passed on the royal blue wedge espadrilles which were $79.99 less 30%. I hope I won't be sorry I passed on those 2 items.

  20. What the heck! My local store had one brulee necklace and they told me it was still full price! So I ordered one online. I'm taking that thing back now that I've read they were almost giving them away in other stores. I WISH they would get their pricing coordinated. Also the linen school boy blazer was still full price in my store, even though it was on sale online. The Cerise color. Geez! Burgandy pencil skirt is $89.50 in my store...not $59.99. It all makes me nuts.

    1. Straycat, just FYI, in my store, only the jumbo brulee necklaces were on sale -- the double crystal brulee necklace with the smaller stones was still full price...

    2. Could they have not marked the pencil skirts? Sometimes my store misses markdowns and they will scan them if you ask. I hate when it happens.

      Delete
    3. Totally agree w/jcrewlvr. I saw the burgundy pencil skirt for $59.99 as of Thursday. Many tickets on many items don't have the correct price or aren't marked sale at all.

They need JCAs to come in and clean up the inventory. We can ticket everything properly and straighten the racks. When customers come up to ask questions we'll know the answers, incl product names. ;)

I could do some more damage, if given the opportunity. :) I recently scored the Martina patent wedges, in bronzed clay, for $48 with the promo--and those shoes are stil $228 online!!!! What in the world is the rationale for these vast pricing differences?!

  25. @gigiofca - (reply never works) Thank you for the price info! Actually thank you for all the price info you do, it is so helpful!

I laughed out loud reading your comment about JCAs cleaning up the inventory. How true!! I often get looks when I ask for something by name and they don't know what it is.

  26. Hi if anyone sees Martina patent wedges in 8.5 or an 8 please let me know nestsweetie(at)gmail.

I had them shipped to me 2 weeks ago and they had a flaw right on the top of the shoe. Had another pair shipped to me as they sent the Marci wedges instead ugh.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  27. For those pondering the Brompton clutch in safari cat, I got it for $39.99 and then the 30% store discount (~$28!!), and happily paid the shipping cost. What a deal! Apparently Rockefeller Center is the only store with some left. If you call, have them double check the price cause initially they said it was $69.99 but then when they were processing the order it came up lower.

  28. Yes...I so agree. WE Crewaholics know all the prices up to the minute...sale or otherwise. I wish the folks that actually WORK at J. Crew were so with it! I know sometimes I annoy the SA's in my stores because I ask (and tell...nicely) what items have gone on sale and sometimes they gladly take my word for it. But sometimes they are annoyed and don't want to even check for me. I hate telling them how to do their job! Why are the head honchos putting their customers in this position!!?? I really need to get off the Crewlade for awhile. I wonder if the Betty Ford Clinic treats this addiction?

  29. And yes.....I've had looks of disbelieve when I've visited my stores twice in one week. Ummm....when I worked retail I was soooo thankful for my ladies that shopped every week. Cause what I was selling....no women needs more of! (very high end cosmetics and skin care). And do any of us NEED anymore clothes. In my case...No. It's something for the Crew to think about. Just sayin'.

    1. straycat, I hear you. When a customer comes in multiple times in a week the greeting should be a hearty "Welcome back!" or "Good to see you!" My ps told me that she is happy to help customers who only want to shop sale. She's gotten some faithful clients out of providing good service to them. A big sale has to be quite nice, but smaller ones all add up to the same things. Especially when the clients come in all the time. (ahem)

I was at another store this week and asked a sa to check a price on a necklace. She wasn't busy and neither was the store. She clearly didn't want to do it, letting me know, 'OH NO I HIGHLY DOUBT--' -- I didn't let her finish. I said, 'Let's just see, if you don't mind.' She scanned it, it wasn't on sale. I thanked her nicely and left with my other things not feeling bad in the least. I ended up buying it the next day under more friendly circumstances, but I wonder how many sales any retailer lose by turning people off.

    2. I admit to feeling really embarassed sometimes when I'm in my b&m frequently in a one or 2 week span. My sa's are really nice to me, but I still feel uncomfortable.

      Delete
  30. Anyone been to a store yet today and know if the sale is still running? I asked my SA last night and she said she didn't know when it would end...

    ReplyDelete
  31. gigiof ca.....I'm usually not shy about asking for price checks. But every once in a while I feel weird about it. Not often, thank goodness. This morning I had a fantastic experience. I called to see if they had the Jumbo Brulee necklace on sale (same store that said it was FP last Wednesday). The SA was super nice and helpful and yes they had two...yellow and turquoise. So I happily said "Hold them!"....Then I thought...I'm going to ask about the Enameled Ram bracelet. So I told her the truth...that I had read it was on sale for like a minute online and sold out. She told me she had one and she OFFERED to honored the $69.99 price and gave my an extra 30% off! I came right home from the store and wrote the big boys and told them to give her a raise. Hee! Don't know if that will happen, but I wanted them to know how wonderful my experience was. Oh and I bought two items I hadn't planned on buying. So yes....small or big, all sales matter.

  32. Has anyone had issues with getting different merchandise then what they ordered? I ordered the heather charcoal colored schoolboy blazer in herringbone when it popped back up. At $99 with an additional 30% off, it was a great deal. When I opened my package, I saw they sent me the aged driftwood color instead.

  33. I was at my b&m today for returns. I just did a quick scan of the sale section and it's starting to look raggedy. And 30 off was still on as of today.
