This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this post) says it best, "You know, that thing you bought because you love it and you keep pulling it out and then putting it away without wearing it?"
Please share your J.Crew item (either that you own or are thinking about getting) that you would love help creating an outfit with.
Also, please help out by offering your styling advice. Feel free to include links to your blog (where you incorporated that piece) or to Polyvore (where you showcased an outfit with that piece). Thanks in advance! :)
Okay - the pompon capris should arrive today. I would LOVE any advice as to how to style these so they are not over the top!
ReplyDeleteHi WMM, I styled those capris on my blog: http://everydaymusingsetm.blogspot.com/2012/06/capri-three_28.html

ReplyDeleteI love the pompon capris! I love them with a black cashmere sweater and black strap sandals with gold jewelry or with a chambray shirt. I think I will stay away from red or orange tops because they will pop way too much. They will look great with gray, navy, black, white, or even mint . The key I think is to keep all other pieces worn very basic to highlight the pants and not overwhelm them.
I always get inspired by how J Crew stylists put their outfits together- I have been taking pics of the window displays for awhile now. Finally started organizing them and putting out for inspiration- here.
ReplyDeleteThe latest styling inspiration is for the stripe skirt and chambray keeper.
Slastena, I love that!! Thank you and keep them coming!! I take pics of my b&m's store displays and windows too but love having access to many all at once like you did!
DeleteSlastena this is fantastic! Thank you so much for sharing it!
DeleteGreat inspiration, thanks for doing this Slastena,
DeleteETm and mini - thank you! I hope they are waiting for me at home, so I can wear to my husband's party tonight!!!!
ReplyDeleteAny ideas for styling the Embroidered Filagree Jacket, other than with jeans? Love the jacket, but not sure how versitile it is. TIA!
ReplyDeleteHi ladies...do you think the necklaces from the Jcrew animal collection (the giraffe, seahorse, and frog) are seasonless or more of spring/summer only pieces? Really in love with their charm, but I do not want to spend so much money for pieces that are seasonally limited. Thanks for your input, ladies!
ReplyDeleteHi Meggers! I have the giraffe and wear it all the time. I bought it at the outlet for around $15 and I get compliments every time I wear it, no matter the season.
DeleteWMM-
ReplyDeleteDid you like the pompon capris? What did you wear them with if you wore them last night?
Mini! I LOVED THOSE PANTS!
ReplyDeleteI think I love them almost too much! I plant wear them tonight - probably with a black tank top and black sandals, to go to dinner. I just started a VERY drafty blog and will post a photo of myself wearing them tomorrow!
Thanks for asking - I think they are absolutely stunnning!
WMM
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you love them too and can't wait to see your blog about them tomorrow!
What about the factory lorelai dress? I just bought the coral-ish one, but I am struggling to pair a cute pair of shoes with it! I am not really an espadrille/wedges girl, but I would appreciate some feedback!
ReplyDeleteMy store has the No 2 Pencil skirt in Marrakech Purple on final sale at a great price. What would I wear on top? Also, do you find that these stretch? The SA recommended I size down to a 6, which fit but was a wee snug but not uncomfortable.
ReplyDeleteHi Laura, I bought that same pencil skirt when it was on sale less 30% several sales ago, lol. I wear it much more than I expected. All shades of whites, pinks, yellows, beiges, prints (many JC camis such as an oldie (sort of) beaded bazaar shell.
DeleteThe current print garden floral silk cami works (I have the scarf)
even some of the peach/orange shades (not too bright for me, but some look great!). I think you would be surprised - I've enjoyed it more than I thought.
I purchased the Edie calf hair purse and attache and I can't decide which one to keep. I would greatly appreciate any opinions.
ReplyDeleteI LOVED the calf hair purse when it came out, and was hesitant to purchase then because I thought it may be too small for me. I was excited that the attache came out, since it was just a larger version and I could still have the calf hair styling. However, now that I see them side by side I'm torn. I love how the smaller Edie purse is so delicate and dressy, but it is too small for my day to day needs. The attache would fit all of my belongings, but I feel like it loses the dressy vibe and looks more like a work bag.
I feel like the result will be either to keep the smaller size and in reality will only be used for special occasions. Or, keep the larger, attache, and use it more regularly, but knowing that I still may need to change out to a smaller purse to suit my needs or to get the same effect that the smaller edie gives.
The SA in my store suggested I keep the attache, since I will use it regularly.
What do you think?
