Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available in the FALL & WINTER sale, or to see some new HOLIDAY arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. A quick browse of the instore sale showed the sherpa hoodies, grey still $39.99, the other colors $49.99, and the Evie tops, colors are down to $19.99. A rowdy toddler prevented me from doing a through scan, so there may be more deals to be had.

  2. i just went :) i was sad the sherpa hoodies are still $39.99. i don't really don't need one, but would get it if it was either cuter/more special or cheaper.

i did get a wool university coat with thinsulate for my husband. $235 online, but only $155 in the store! my husband wears coats for years and years (his current one is from high school...sigh), so I thought it was totally worth it.

Some cute casual hats and scarves for $19.99. I don't know the names off the top of my head. Otherwise, I wasn't really in the market for summer or holiday womens stuff, just warm clothes for my husband.

  3. btw, i checked out the madewell necklace posted about earlier. can't say i like it as much in person? more of a rough, industrial edge with the dark metal color than pretty sparkly as I was imagining. but they did have other fun necklaces for $34.99.

  4. Were all the colors in the evie top on sale for $19.99? I would love to get it in the breeze or violet color.

  5. The shimmering stone necklace is $9.99 for all colors.
Schoolboy blazer in carbon color is $99.99 and the professor blazer in carbon color is also $99.99 in store.

  6. Question OT: Has anybody out there been to the Crew outlet store by the Tulalip Casino in Washington state? I am planning on stopping by after the holidays. Worth the stop?
    Thanks!

  7. The interesting stuff in my B&M was actually in the men's section. For those of you who missed out on the Jaspe sweatshirt, there is an almost identical men's top for $34.50. Same material, same triangle detail at the collar - the only real difference I could tell is that instead of the straight hem around the bottom it had the split hem at the sides (I'm sure there's a name for this but don't know what it is!). The thermal shirts were marked to $19.99, and the norfolk-stripe was $29.99 - this is the one that was styled with the Tori cardigan in last month's catalog. It's very cute and thick.

Truth be told, I was kind of jealous of the men's offerings - there was much more of a classic 'holiday' feel in that area of the store while the women's section seemed more haphazard with all the metallic, ruffles, glitter, sequins, raw-edged fabric, etc. I did see a pistachio-colored cashmere sweater and think that pistachio is this year's citron - it was a lot brighter than I expected.

  8. I ran into Barton Creek mall Jc (Austin tx)to make a bunch of online returns yesterday and didn't have too much time to look around. All of the tissue stripe tees (I already have the grey and the black) were in the sale section. They also had the Donegal tweed sweater on sale...I bought one along with a couple items for my daughter for Christmas. SA said new items coming Monday. I'll go back....plus will have more returns. With all of the FS and 25% off, I have been ordering almost daily....but a lot of it goes back.

  9. I was in J.Crew briefly last night and the wool pencil skirt in the purple color was marked down to $79.99 although they only had size 0.

  10. I picked up the mushroom-y colored sherpa hoodie the other day for $39.99 after visiting it in the store 3 or 4 times. It just feels like a soft, cuddly hug when I put it on! I'd have liked it better for $29.99 and I'm actually going to hold out and see if clearance goes down a little more this week or next and see if I can't return and repurchase. I feel an extra20 or so coming on soon. :-) Other than that, unless the holiday tees go on markdown, I'm out. I didn't see anything in-store that thrilled me.

  11. Pewter Sherpa Puffer Jacket was $100
Tuxedo front tunic (light blue) $29.99
Gloves in multiple stripe patterns $14.99
    Most? Toothpick cords were $49.99
    Metallic scarves $19.99
    longsleeve stripe teed $19.99
most stuff is marked the same as online outerwear 30% off

and if you're looking for the Merino microstripe turtleneck that's $19.99 in light pewter, Cambridge store had a ton in all sizes... It's sold out online.

    Hth!

  12. JenLynn~could you tell me which store this was? i'd love to order that skirt!

  13. Anybody know when the outerwear sale is going to end? I don't know if I can make it into a store today...

  14. Tres Tippy--It was at the Pentagon City store in Virginia. This was last night at 6 pm so they might still have it.

  15. I got the pink sherpa hoodie on sale for $49.99, and although it's cute, I was disappointed that unlike last year, there's no fleece lining the pockets or hood. The price structure (where it started and where it ended up) is exactly the same as last year, though. I guess because the jacket is longer this year, they decided to skimp on the lining? It's a shame, as it's not nearly as warm as last year's.

    ReplyDelete
  16. thanks jenlynn~i just called and they don't have it anymore but i appreciate your help :)

    ReplyDelete
  17. tres tippy - not to send you on a wild goose chase, but Prince St had the purple pencil skirt in all sizes as of Tuesday night. They might have your 0!

  18. OT but perhaps someone can help? Does anyone have the Merona Shawl-Collar Sweatshirt Pullover from Target? I absolutely love it and mistakenly thought it was JCrew when I saw a woman wearing yesterday. I have to order it online and was wondering how it fit... it's turning into my go-to Xmas gift.
    Thanks for any advice :)

  19. Marisa + Julie: Is it the fleece sweatshirt? Gigi has a review: http://gigisgoneshopping.blogspot.com/2009/09/target-merona-shawlneck-pullover.html

    ReplyDelete
  20. Marisa + Julie: I love those Target pullovers and in fact have 2 of them now. The yellow color is pretty much identical to my favorite j.crew color of all time--Honey Glaze!

Anyway, re: sizing...I'd say they run slightly big. I am usually a size small across the board in tops, but I have an xs in both of the ones I bought. They fit perfectly. However, I don't normally wear too many layers underneath (usually just a cami)--if you think you might, I'd stick with your normal size. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  21. AppGal & JCC--perfect! thank you so much! i think XS for me and M for mom and M for my friend... okay, maybe two for me. Thanks for gigi's review :) it's good to know that the yellow is "honey glaze" too!

    ReplyDelete
  22. one more question and then you can all get back to JCrew, is the green a nice color? i think the yellow is sold out online.

  23. If anyone sees the Shirred Wool Skirt in black or burgundy in a size 4, I'd LOVE it if you let me know. I've been stalking the Web site for it all week, but that's the one size that hasn't come up, so now I'm trying to track one down in stores.

  24. I've also been eyeing the sherpa hoodies that I don't need. After reading Lauren S. review, I suspect I'd be disappointed when I compared the 2009 hoodies to my much loved sherpa hoodies circa 2007.

I haven't seen any discussion of the perfect fit t-shirt cardigan, so I'll add my review in case anyone is interested. I bought the navy. As you'd expect, it's the same fabric as the new heavier weight perfect fit tees. It fits the same and washes well. It's light weight for a cardigan, but it's not see-through (at least in the navy) or flimsy. Even though I haven't worn it a lot yet, I really like it and I think it'll get a lot of use in the spring/summer. If/when it goes on clearance, I'll definitely pick up a couple more colors.

  25. Jean: Which one was the shimmering stone necklace? Is the in store only style that looks like the online rock and fire necklace(#22462)? TIA! love2shop4bags AT yahoo DOT com

  26. Does anyone know how long the 30% off coats promo lasts?

    TIA

  27. KB-Saw the skirt in that size in the burgundy color at the Southpark, Charlotte store, but that was last weekend. Worth a shot to call though.

Marisa + Julie-I haven't seen the green color in person, but it looks nice!

  28. Here's the picture of the shimmering stone necklace for $9.99 if anyone is interested! It comes in black, clear & gray... didn't really see other colors.

Love it as a layering piece and it's a great gift @ a great price!

  29. Thanks, AppGal - I'll have to give them a call at lunch and see if they still have it. I have my fingers crossed!

    ReplyDelete
  30. I'm curious, can you call the stores directly and actually buy items from them and have them ship it to you? What do they charge for shipping?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Tweetle Beetle, yes you can do a charge-send over the phone with the store if they can find the item you're looking for. The shipping charges are the same as ordering from the website.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I agree with Lauren's review on the Sherpa Hoodie, it is nice to have the extra length, however, it is not as warm, and the neck seam is not reinforced with grosgrain trim as the previous years hoodies.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Heidi, the colors (black, purple, etc) were $49.99 today in Chicago. The leopard print is $59.99. The only color I've seen for $19.99 is ivory.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Sorry to not specify which Evie colors were cheap! There was a bright melony pink and at least one other color that I saw. They were all grouped together, my daughter grabbed a bunch that she wanted me to buy for her (she's almost three, so no dice!) and glancing at the tags as I put them back I saw that they were marked $19.99. She was so grabby that we had to high tail out of there, sorry I don't have full info.

  35. Went to King Of Prussia today. New items coming in on Monday. Full sale section for men & women. Evie tops galore Leopard $59.99 other colors $19.99 (I think), no Breeze color. Usual sale stuff. Wool twill studio pants, sweaters, tees. Men's section had 3 colors of nice puffer coats for $119.99, may get one for my fast-growing teenager. Lots of cords too.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Forgot to mention the Shirred Wool skirts in both colors, sorry don't know what sizes.

There is a men's sweater that is a shorter version of the Marled Wool cardi, very nice, in sz XS & S. But, it's not marked down in the store, is $99.99 online in sale section.

I agree that the men's selection is great and the women's stuff is mostly covered with ruffles and beads **yawn**

  37. Lauren S, what store did you find the pink sherpa. I would love to have one!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Marcy, it was the Brea Mall location in CA. I should warn you, though, that I got what appeared to be the last one and it was clearly a return. But I'll keep an eye out at my Seattle store for you!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I went to a B&M today and was unable to find the sweater I have been trying to find in-store so I can see it before I purchase it as a gift. They didn't have it so I used the red phone for that and 2 other item. I asked to use the GIFTS code.

I just got home and saw the confirmation emails. I was charged a whopping $26 in shipping fees for the phone orders!!! So much for the red phone.

Not happy about this.... I would have waited to order if I had known that shipping was not complimentary.

  40. Are we talking sherpa long hoodie? I really love mine... I wear it constantly. Totally worth $40. And I'm a cheapo.

    ReplyDelete
  41. OMG Rosie... that made me choke on my cereal! I hope you're planning on calling them up. Good luck.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Rosie,
Free shipping even with red phone is only good on full priced items. That rule has been in effect for quite a while...

Unless you get an SA or someone in the store like your PS to talk with the phone rep ahead of time for special instances...they might wave it...

    ReplyDelete
  43. Also, see Wendy's post on the post above this one about the 25% off sale. She asked on the red phone in her store about getting free shipping with the code and was told no....

I also think there is something about this on the JCrew online page on red phone usage.

  44. Marcy, Charleston, SC, had tons of the pink sherpas. If you're still looking for one, give them a call.

I made a few purchases today: the reindeer tee (just couldn't resist any longer!), a yo-yo for my niece, and the blouse with the flower & stuff on it (sorry, I can't remember the name) in purple. I already bought it full price and it's on sale now, so I'll return the full price one. My sister bought the white/black snowflake tee, a black/white striped long sleeve tee for underneath the snowflake, a crewcuts dress and crewcuts leggings.

  45. heidi, i've seen updated pages as early as 6 am EST. usually somewhere between 5:55 and 6:15 am EST. within an hour stuff's already snapped up. within 2 hours a lot is wiped out - the pre-work commute, pre-school hour mouse clicks as it were.
in my experience, the items go on in waves, so i've generally found the biggest selection around 6:30 am EST. the new stuff's in, and the purchases aren't done yet.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Went to store this morning and did quite well! I got the field jacket in mossy brown for $88!! That was awesome -- They gave me 30% off for the outerwear sale AND accepted my educator discount. I was really happy! I also bought the sherpa puffer vest in bright olive for $79.99 -- it's such a pretty color and so I gave in :)

  47. rooster t 19.99, and the rose t with bugle bead 19.99 bought both

  48. I will not be visiting JCrew this weekend. Because the next two weekends I will be roadtripping to both clearance centers' warehouse/sidewalk sales. Yes, I'm insane. JCrew obsessed. Last time the sale was almost all samples... but if there is a particular hard to find or older item you are looking for, I will make a list and see what I can come up with. They do sometimes have regular retail stuff.

E-mail me at emilyeeg at gmail.com. It is fun to look for stuff for other people, especially when I get discouraged that I can't find anything for myself!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Marisa + Julie, and Summer -- thank you for your comments. I looked at the JCA blog and just saw the policy on the red phone. But I thought one item I ordered was full price! So the whole thing should be free.

And even if not, the SA should have told me that there was shipping fees. It's also ridiculous that the SA was too lazy to combine my last-minute addition into the original order, which cost me an extra 8.50 in shpping. NOT happy about this at all.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Rosie,
Shipping would only be free for the one full priced item. Shipping would apply to the other sale items. Too bad about the additional charge though. It would have been nice for them to give you free shipping on it.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Heidi it can be totally worth it to get up right when the updates happen. I used to live in Boston for a couple of years and that's how I amassed my large J. Crew collection, especially sweaters, coats and jackets. The best time is after the holiday when they have all these winter items but the catalog has moved to resort. I would get up and log on to J. Crew first thing, they would do discount percentages off the sale price and I would pay $60 for sweaters, $75. for coats, etc. But it's a commitment :)

    ReplyDelete
  52. Thanks, Summer.

Update: It was my lucky day. The CS rep I called offered to refund back ALL the shipping. (And I would have been happy with just part...) She said that since the sweater was full price it should have been free on the order, even with the gift code. I feel so much better!
