J.Crew Email: Last day. 20% off all sweaters + FREE SHIPPING.

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Marietta, who shared the following email sent this morning.

J.Crew is reminding us about their offer for 20% off select women's full-priced sweaters (click here to shop women's online) *and* 20% off select men's full-priced sweaters (click here to shop men's online). J.Crew is also offering free shipping on orders of $150+ with promo code HOLIDAY. Both these offers end today, 12/2/09, at midnight.

I have not taken advantage of either offer. Although there are some lovely new sweaters being offered, I am shopped out at J.Crew for awhile. I might have changed my mind if I got free shipping with no minimum for logging in ...but alas, I did not receive that offer yesterday (& clearly I am not bitter about that, not at all). ;)

Will you be taking advantage of the sweater promotion? Are there any new arrival sweaters you are interested in getting?

  1. I won't be taking advantage of this offer either, I have already spent enough on presents. Plus, sadly, the quality of JCrew cashmere sweaters (which is mostly what I buy) has gone downhill in the last years, so I am staying away from their sweaters (unless they are heavily discounted).

  2. Alexis,
I have not got any of the recent promos either and I have been buying a lot. I don't get it but unless I have no mim. code I won't buy either. I have lots of gifts for others to buy but they won't be from JCrew.

I had such a blast scoring amazing deals on Cyber Monday yesterday. It really was a fun day buying for others. What deals there were to be had!!!!!

  3. I probably won't be shopping with this promotion. I desperately want a tie-front cashmere cardigan, but even on sale, the price is a bit steep. Now, as for the new sweaters, they're a little light weight for me for winter.

  4. himmiefan,
Yes, the lightweight sweaters at JC do me no good when it is cold. I only wear them for parties or special occasions. I need warmth in the deep freeze!

I like the tie front one too. It is on my wish list when/if it goes to a DEEP discount. If not, oh well. There is one THICK cashmere one I am watching at LE that I prefer.

  6. himmiefan,

That sweater is backordered in all sizes and all colors until Mid Jan.
Way to go JCrew with your great stock control! I mean Mid Jan????

  7. I too would not be buying anything today. I hope there is a new promotion tomorrow..lets say..on denim !

  8. I bought my hubby the zip-neck lambswool and the cable knit sweaters for Xmas, so the promo came in handy.

  9. I was thinking of buying a couple of Jackie cardigans, but I didn't want to pay shipping. I had a code for free shipping from the November catalog, but I received the catalog last week, and the code expired on Nov 1! I called customer service to see if they could help me out, but the rep said he couldn't help me with the code, only if I spent $150 could he get me free shipping. He was no help at all, and I was so disappointed. No new Jackie cardigans for me this time!

  10. OT: To all of my fellow Kate Spade shoe fans! Endless.com is having an awesome sale on them today (and handbags). Sorry goldenmeans - no size 11 :( No coupon needed :)

  11. I did not take advantage of this offer, it has been a month since my last order, and I did not receive any promo.

  12. OT, but has anyone bought any of the jewelry from crewcuts? I am considering the twisted pearl necklace and the bubble bracelet for my 6 year old and am not sure whether they're really huge(like some of the adult jewelry seems to be) or whether they're regular kid-sized. Any advice/help would be appreciated. TIA

  13. jcma --> I bought my 7-year-old niece two of the crewcuts beaded necklaces and find they're sized appropriately. They're very cute & fun colours!

Heidi --> I got that same cashmere cardi in warm burgundy about a month ago and love it. I find the weight to be perfect as cashmere is so warm anyway. I can wear it to work and not sweat to death in a heated building. And the colour is gorgeous IMO.

  14. I have been wearing my OLDER better quality JCRew sweaters. The newer styles are fine for spring/early fall but most places in winter are COLD and my office is freezing. I even wear my cuddle duds to work. So, no, I think I will pass on the thin cashmere and other sweaters and enjoy my older JC ones:)

And what is with the Acrylic in the new heavier JCrew sweaters???? none of my old ones have that inexpensive/pill knowing fiber.

  15. OT - I received my cossette peep toes today. Oh my, are these beautiful shoes! And they were packaged so carefully, they arrived in perfect condition (I bet they've never even been tried on before). Question for JCAs: has anyone used scotchguard or something similar on suede shoes? I live in the rainy Northwest, so these will certainly see a drop of water at some point. I want to keep them as gorgeous as possible. Thanks!

  16. jcma,

I ordered the twisted pearl necklace and returned. I bought it for myself and the pearls were too big for my 5'3" body. It didn't look good on my 4 year old daughter.
I got her bubble necklace, and it's a perfectly proportioned for kids. She loves it. I also got the bracelet. It's elastic and it runs big (I can wear it) but very cute.

  17. Ha, Genny - I've been known to wear my Cuddle Duds to work too... sometimes it seems colder in the office than it is outside!

I love my Hudson Hoodie from 2006 - I think it was made with whatever the Dream yarn predeccesor was (merino/cashmere). I wear it constantly and it's still in great condition. The sweater jackets from the last couple of years have also been very warm.

  18. OT, but can you return an item ordered on-line to a B&M store or do you have to mail it back? TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  19. I got the colorblock cardigan, copper wool pants, and one of the embellished tees in stone and they're all lovely. The cardi is much lighter than I expected, though--probably won't wear it much until Spring. But the cut is very flattering and not boxy at all

I really don't like the beach dress in charcoal, though. It was in the loungewear section so maybe it's technically a nightgown, but I know I'll never wear it. Hence, the above question :)

  20. I am also missing the days when JCrew sent their jewelry in boxes and used tissue paper. I have to now find boxes to put the items in. I always recycled and used the tissue too. It is crazy to just have things sitting poorly wrapped and moving all around the shipping boxes. esp. with their crazy high shipping prices.

Avon and many other companies still package even a lip gloss nicely!

  21. Lauren, you can definitely return an online order to a B&M, which is easier because you save the $ that return shipping would cost.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Lauren,
You can return to store or use the prepaid smart label. If you have several items to return I find it easier to just slap on the label and give it to my UPS when he comes by...yeah, they deduct about $6 for using it but it also counts for gas, my time waiting in line at JC, etc. My refund usually shows up in a few days on my credit card as well.

  23. Kristin-In the past I've used just the run of the mill leather protector that the department stores sell and as far as i can tell, it has always performed well, no discoloration. I reapply every year or so, making sure I lightly brush the shoes clean first. However that being said, I've not had great luck with JC suede shoes.IMO the suede always looks scuffed or grainy, if that makes any sense.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Thanks so much Genny and silver_lining. I'm just returning the one item, so hopefully everything will go smoothly at the B&M :)

  25. Kristin, I live in the Pacific NW, too, and I always scotchguard my shoes (leather, suede, etc) with no problems. You can get the spray at Target. Make sure the label says it won't stain.

  26. OT: Markdowns at B&M
Believe it or not, the antler tee is already reduced ($24.99), as well as the striped tissue tees
($19.99)and striped merino crewnecks and cardigans (I think $59.99 and $69.99, not sure). The remaining Evies are now on sale (leopard $59.99, solids $49.99). Didn't get a chance to look at everything as I was running late, but hope it helps someone.

  27. Not surprised on the antler tees being reduced. You either lovem or hatem. Plus, time limit on when you can wear them...

  28. Count me on the Warm Burgundy, that's a yummy color. I also got the Vintage Forest and the Navy. All three are gorgeous under the Crosby Coat because they are both lightweight but perfect for layering. I tried two or three of the paler shades and every single one went back. I just can't pull it off, they make me look sickly pale. I'm another Pac NW and we don't tan, we turn blue.

  29. Genny, when did JCrew stop putting jewelry in boxes? Is it something new? I'm sure the last two necklaces I bought were in boxes, because I just threw them in the trash last night. Maybe I should have kept them...

Summer, which Lands' End sweater is it? I bought the cable zip cardigan in charcoal grey and it's amazing. It's thick and soft and absolutely no pilling (so far). I can see why it's nearly sold out.

OTOH, I received the Talbot's cashmere cable cardigan I ordered and it's going back. It's thinner and shorter than I expected. It's ok, but nothing special, and I don't see myself wearing it much. The cashmere I bought there last year seems much nicer. I love my light grey one-button cardigan.

  30. Genny - I buy lots of JC jewelry and they always come in boxes. What jewelry did you buy and what in the world did they ship them in to protect them??

    ReplyDelete
  31. Kristen, I got my black Cosettes today, too, and am loving them. I'm definitely looking at waterproofing the suede portion, too. I just wish the ankle strap was farther down on the foot, they hit me rightunder the ankle bone, snug, so I hope they don't bother me much. Other than that, they seem comfortable, great heel height for me, and the mix of patent with the suede is cool. I'm so glad I held out for the lower sale price. I decided to keep the ruffled rosette dress even though the ruffle isn't finished. I think it won't fray too egregiously since the cotton is pretty tightly woven. The just above knee length is great, and I love the plum color.

I also got one of the CC origami necklaces for like eight bucks, it's cute and fun! This one didn't come in a box and neither did the two recent pieces I got for DD, but the crazy bead necklace I got a couple weeks ago came in one of the nice silver boxes. I think there's no rhyme or reason to the JC packaging/ shipping, especially at this time of year.

  32. For staples like the Jackie cardigan and cords, I recommend going to the outlet. I was there a week ago and they have tons of Jackies in various colors, same with the cords. They also have a lot of jewelry that looks very similar to what they have now in the regular stores.

  33. Looking at the sale again, I don't think I'm going to place another order for a bit. I'd been eyeing the strada and dapple dots cardis but I scored a popback of the Corolla sweater tee from Anthro for twenty bucks. It isn't a cardi, but it totally fulfills my need for a top with a cute loopy bib placket.

    ReplyDelete
  34. CheeseyGoodness, I bought the strada cardi and returned it because it bulged above the waist band - a la muffin top. I did like the print though. Too bad.

  35. I have reviewed a number of the sweaters on my blog. I put the links in one post here:

    HTH someone :-)

  36. I won't be using this promo. Shopped myself out on my trip overseas and Saturday I'm off on another trip for a couple weeks so no sense ordering packages at this point.

Although I've had it for months I wore my vintage cord pencil skirt in deep aubergine for the first time today. Paired with last year's snowflake tee, older Jackie cardi in a rich, deep pink (wild peony?), matching deep pink tights and Anthro's Oxford Grad peep toes. Loved the look, felt so funky and fun. I'm considering another vintage cord in the glazed pecan. I missed out on last year's version of this skirt and now I know why it received rave reviews. Really comfortable with a little bit of stretch it holds its shape all day. Great casual alternative to a denim skirt.

  37. I placed an order this morning for one Jackie and the Dream cabin cardigan just to try it out...

O/T: Does any body have a pair of Joley Tortoise patent peep toe heels in size 7 they'd like to sell or trade to a 7.5? Received mine today and it's a tad big...I guess they run TTS.

  38. OT - I know this is a J Crew blog, but IMO the black friday/cyber monday deals were very disppointing! I scored lots of deals at AT (40%+fs) and Ralph Lauren (25%+fs) instead. Just wondering where else did all you savvy JCAs shop at / intending to shop? TIA!

  39. Sigh.....add me to the list of people who just got the November catalog with a free shipping promo in it that expired Nov. 1st. Lame, J crew. Lame.Has anybody tried to push to get them to still honor the promo? It seems they should. You know,to maintain customer faith and all. Oh wait....I'm talking about J Crew here. The second comming will happen before J Crew does anything to go out of its way for the customer. I guess I now have some extra paper to line my pet cage with, though.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Wait, wait. That last thing in my previous post might have been a little harsh. I only mean that last part a teensy bit ;) I'm just bitter I got slighted once again. Where's the love J Crew? Where?

  41. Has anyone seen or tried the Bonheur cardigan and can comment on it?

Also, a bit OT, any thoughts about the Perfect Pintuck dress? Fit, fabric, sizing?

    TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Has anyone tried the sequin scarf cardigan or the sequin tuxedo cardigan? I have a serious sequin addiction, but I fear the prices are still a little steep for pieces that might be flashes in the pan (no pun intended). TIA!

Also, I'm seeing a lot of Lands' End love in the previous comments. I've recently discovered their Canvas line and am in love. There are just a few items available so far, but they all seem to be lovely, classic pieces.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Can anyone help with comments on perfect pencil skirt sizing? I am a 2 in most JC bottoms these days but sometimes a 2 in the suiting can be just a wee bit snug. Do you think a 2 would work? TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Hexicon - I think you can go w/a 2. I have irl pics here:

  45. I ordered the Scalinata henley in vintage rose (such a pretty color) and the Cambridge cable rib-necked sweater in heather dusk, both size small. They arrived today. The henley fits perfect, although the sleeves are a tad bit short. The turtleneck is too small, and is particularly tight in the arms.

I like the striped dolce and dolce cable sweaters. Has anyone seen them in person and can comment on the weight/feel/fit/etc?
