Another Sneak Peek to J.Crew's Fall Collection

In the post "J.Crew Preview: Fall 2009 Looks", we got to see lots of Fall looks from J.Crew. Well, now we have one more, thanks to FabSugar (click here to view the slideshow). Some of the looks we have seen before- but still fun to see again! ;)

What are your thoughts on the new Fall items? Are you excited for what's to come? Do you dislike or like any of them? Which items were you hoping to see? :)

  1. Love the poplin Brynn dress in warm wisteria. Just ordered the Scattered Petals Tank in bright papaya too; am hoping it's going to be a good layering piece, but was a little hesitant because the petals might "wilt." The barely peach color was tempting as a neutral, but I love bright pops of color so went with papaya. Hope it works out!

  4. I'm only looking forward to the matchstick cords. I've been having too much fun at the Nordstrom Anniv pre-sale and Banana Republic.

  5. I am underwhelmed. I still see lots of light pewter and very neutral washed out colors. Not appealing. I like gigiofca have been shopping other great sales with great prices and hunting out cute boutiques with high quality craftmanship on the clothes!

  6. BR have some beautiful purples, greens and magenta colors out unlike JC neutral palette.

Like Gigiofca I am only interested in the matchstick cords at the moment.

Martin & Osa are clearing out some of their jeans at 60% off, great quality, fits just like the matchstick, fs at $100.00.

  7. The one thing I love is the Watercolor Tortoiseshell print, but why does it have to have PLEATS? Not a flattering look for me, but the colors are great for Fall.

  8. I am still majorly interested in that new burnt orange color (I don't know what JC is calling it...) So I'm excited to see it in cardis, hats, etc.

  9. So far I think this is a very bland collection.

I am looking forward to a few pieces from the look book, but so far they haven't put out anything I have to have.

  10. Very disappointed in what I have seen so far. Hopefully, it will get better but I feel like a broken record repeating itself at this point.

I (used to be?) am a HUGE JCrew fan but fading fast??? If this is what they keep putting out, well, it just makes me feel great that I bought so many things in the past and I really don't need anything right now!

That new floral tee with all the beading/sequins that is "hidden" on the website is awful! Makes me think of a bedazzler from the 70's. Overdone and Tacky. I want something tasteful and classic like in years past.

  11. Gigiofca, I love Nordstrom's anniversary sale! I always score some fabulous items, both in stores (I have two near me) and on line - and it's usually something I'll wear in the upcoming fall/winter seasons.

I'm not overwhelmed by J.Crew's early fall offerings, either. That tortoise pencil skirt might have worked; alas, put pleats on a skirt, and I turn the other cheek.

I wonder what they'll do for this year's version of the Bella/Ecole "it" fall jacket.

  12. I'm with gigiofca and casual-crew and have been preferring Banana Republic lately, especially the gorgeous colors. Anyone know of a BR coupon or promotion coming up? Of course I decided to buy something the day after the last promotion ended!

  13. My favorite item is the pink typewriter in the last picture! ;o)))

  14. The grey blazer is nice but I already have more than one that is very similar. Maybe if it comes out in a nice rich burgundy or eggplant I'll bite.

I like the vintage cord pencil skirt. Has anyone tried it? Is it TTS? Is the glazed pecan a bit burgundy/rust or is that just my monitor.

  15. I like the gray blazer, but that particular shade of light gray isn't my best colour.

The charcoal cardi in pic 12 with the detail on the shoulder (beading or ruffles?) and placket is very pretty.

  16. Just ordered the pencil cord skirt in dark aubergine, but the SA charged me shipping and handing even though I placed the order in the store. I got my credit back though. Can't wait to try the new skirt on!

  17. Wendy, please do report back on your new skirt. Would love to read a mini review or just an opinion.

    TIA

  18. Lauren - BR is offering THANKYOU on line, staring 7/16 - 7/19 for cardholders. I think you can be an ON or GAP cardholder as well. It's 25% off any purchase in-stores & online. Multiple purchases are fine, too. It's not a one-time usage.

  19. Gigiofca: Thank you so much! I'll definitely be using that code!

  20. OMG Gigi!!! thanks so much for sharing that BR code! You should see my cart from there right now. it's a little insane. ok, a lot insane, but whatever...;)

  21. Wendy--yes, please report back on the cord pencil skirt! I love the one I got last fall in honey glaze. I'm definitely eying either the aubergine or pecan color for this year. I'd be interested to see if they style is exactly the same as last year's.

As of now, I'm only really interested in the cord pieces...I can't pull off the matchsticks, but looove the bootcut and trouser ones.

  22. I think that there will be some nice pieces, but so far I don't see any must haves.

In Gigi's recent review of the look book items, there was a lovely ruffle blouse (the Kristin Solid Cami), that may be an interesting item, especially in unusual colours. So I'll keep an eye out for that. Other than that, I'll have to wait and see.

One thing that's really got me wondering is the Collection: some of those items are coming in at prices like $795.00 and $850.00 and are offered only in sizes 0 - 8. It's like JCrew's testing the waters with a new market, or something. I don't remember seeing such prices for non-ivestment type pieces, or such a limited size range for same.

  23. I'm super excited for the fall collection! I'm most looking forward to buying a new winter coat. Last year I saw one I absolutely adored but I let it pass me by... :(

  24. I just placed a "we will find it" order for the Silk indigo floral skirt which was online for about a minute before selling out (yet is still the featured item at the top of the skirts page, which frustrates me). The reason I'm mentioning this is because yesterday I couldn't even navigate to the page for the skirt so I had emailed J.Crew asking where it went. I found this part of their response particularly interesting: "We are making every effort to adjust our current inventory to meet the increased demand in order to better service you." Isn't that contrary to what Jenna just recently stated?

Meanwhile, the skirt has yet to hit eBay at a huge markup which I can certainly appreciate.
