Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Crew this {past} Weekend?

I had the rare opportunity this weekend to visit both a J Crew and a J Crew Factory while traveling. Both stores were busy, and it was so nice to actually see stuff and do try-ons. It has been years since I was in a Factory store as there isn’t one anywhere near me. Interesting, I didn’t see much of a difference at all in the quality between the two stores, and overall the edit at Factory was more tailored and colorful. Lots of bright dresses, shorts, tees, and denim. Fewer oversized shapes. I found the tees at Factory, especially the Slub Cotton Girlfriend Tee, to be better quality than Retail. I bought a few of those. At Retail I picked up the Seaside Pants in Azalea Wash.
ReplyDeleteI bought a few of the girlfriend tees when the shutdown started. I had made the mistake of buying a bunch of tees from Gap and those were a disaster so I decided to purchase a few tees from J.Crew Factory. I agree that they're better quality than J.Crew's.
DeleteSaw this on Harpers Bazaar and now I know who to blame the boringness that is now JCrew womenswear. I like classic but I don’t think this is it. Her personal style seems to be unstructured basics, which I don’t find classic.

I kind of like everything she posted, even if it’s not my personal taste specifically…and I love the idea of that cupro suit but don’t find the pants to fit well, which is a huge issue for me with JCrew pants. I wish I could explain what the issue was, they weren’t too big or too small, the cut just didn’t look good.
DeleteI would describe Olympia’s style as more modern and sometimes minimalist. An unstructured, oversized suit is not really classic just because it’s “a suit.” Same with the shorts suits she designed this year. I think she always looks great but agree with eeps that I don’t see a lot of J Crew DNA in her personal aesthetic.
