Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Received my alps puffer (BA595) in the dark spruce color. Think I'm going to return it though. Color and style were good - I like the shawl collar and the inner waist drawstring. However it is "crinkly" as other reviewers noted (weird, I have other prima loft items that are not so noisy). Really made it feel stiff and cheap. Also this coat lacks serious functionality. I have to wear my winter coats out in the real world (beyond the all white JC photo studio). The front flap pockets are annoying (no side entry) and the "interior pocket" is tiny! It could fit maybe a Kleenex or a credit card, but not a phone or wallet. I've seen much nicer coats with actual down at the same price point.

    1. Thanks! Can’t wait to return mine as well. Lol 😂

    2. now I'm getting tempted by the chateau puffer...no one in reviews have complained of it being noisy. It comes in a bright true red this year too (last year's red was traffic cone orange).

    3. I have the red* from two years ago, and do like it a lot. I actually wore it today shoveling, cleaning off cars and walked a few blocks and I was fine. I wish it had a two way zipper or snaps. Not sure if the new one does.
*my red is a warmer red but not as orange as some of the other reds I’ve seen. Not sure how it compares to this year’s holiday red.

    4. julielion96, I bought and returned the chateau puffer in the blue color a month or so ago. It was very nice, and I didn't notice it being noisy. I decided I needed a warm coat that could handle steady rain and I didn't think this could, which is why I returned it. But it was really cute and I still kind of regret returning it. The blue had a red lining, and I think I heard someone here (or in comments on Jcrew.com?) say the red has a blue lining, if that matters to you.

    5. Suz, that is good to know. I like to hear that people used their coats in real world conditions and stayed warm.
Cate, was this year's model tts? Reviews saying is runs big. trying to decide if I need a regular M or a tall S. Everyone here is so nice and helpful. :D

    6. Julie, I bought a Medium and that has been my coat size at J. Crew forever. It was not tight on me, I could put a sweater under it, but I'm sure the Large would have been too big and I have broad shoulders so the Small would not have worked for me.

    7. Julielion96 mine is a small. I wear it cinched tight at the waist to give it some shape but the shoulders are loose enough to fit a heavy sweater or fleece, even layering a thin vest too. I prob could have gotten the XS BUT I almost always prefer my coats a little looser for length and layering. My more fitted coats are 4/6 and I got XS in the oversized double breasted topcoats this year.

  2. Received some of my final orders. Most of my ordering was cashmere since the sales were very reasonable.

    1. I've wanted to try the Collection navy poncho in Italian double-faced cashmere. It was marked down during cashmere sale ($799.50) and was able to stack an additional 15% off, so $680. I think this is a fair price; I would not pay full price.

The cashmere is exactly like double faced cashmere pullover and cashmere wrap jacket from a few years ago. So, if you like that fabric then you will also be happy with this option.

I ordered a small/medium and that was the right call since it's a relaxed design. I'm just over 5.8, so no issue w/being overwhelmed by the cape. There's a hook closure at the neck and the reviewer who noted the thin thread is correct. Material is thicker than sewing thread; like a thin tassel in terms of actual width, but you get the point. A seamstress could replace with a thicker option.

This is also a lightweight poncho, so definitely for milder temps; you can wear this over a suit jacket instead of a coat. I live in Texas, so this will be very useful in fall/winter because we don't have cold weather often.

    2. Also received a second order of Ludlow cashmere navy pants as a back up. These pants have been a workhorse for me this winter, so happy to have a second pair. Navy also matches the poncho; I've worn them frequently with double cashmere popover and honeycomb sweaters.

    3. Oslo bag in warm clay for $12.5. Popbacks showed up in "saved for later" and I ordered two. I really like the clay color and the leather is good quality. Will use as gifts.

    4. Sequin turtleneck zip up sweater. I ordered up a size, so fit is relaxed. I struggle with turtlenecks in terms of fit, so it's likely that I'll wear it partially unzipped as a pullover.

    5. Cashmere-lined leather touchscreen gloves in black; ordered a size large which is my usual size. Fit is tts. The leather is really soft and will be great for travel. Also, received cashmere touchscreen gloves in vibrant red for $11. They're a good option too.

    6. Cashmere pullover in heather stone. I've been wanting a pullover to wear with the cashmere sweatpants in the same color that I picked up last year during super sales. I had to size up because that was the only size available; wore today as loungewear and for a quick errand.

    7. Ludlow cashmere men's jacket in charcoal herringbone; fit is tts and a really nice jacket option. Since there haven't been any cashmere jackets for women this season, I decided to try Ludlow and I'm happy with the purchase. I've already worn it twice this week with the matching pants for meetings. A cashmere suit for less than $400 is a great deal.

    1. Wow! Sounds like great buys! Question how do you size the pants from women to mens. I am 2 in pants, will 28 work? I am intrigued by them somehow lol …. Thank you 😊

    2. Thank you for the great reviews, mygoddy! I also try to get cashmere at the end of season. I love J Crew’s Collection double-faced cashmere - I have collected a few pieces on sale over the years. They are classic and wear well in steady rotation in our upper Midwest winters.

    3. @Kate, I can wear my son's pants, so I actually use his sizing to make purchases. There's a chart that maps women's to men's sizing; you can Google and it will pop up. I think a 28 is going to be too big for you; of course, you could have the 28" waist altered. Alterations are really reasonable where I live, and if you have a Nordstrom's card, they're a good option too. I wear a 30/32 or 32/32, depending upon cut, and I'm typically an 8 or 10 in J Crew pants. The 32 length (inseam) hits the top of my shoes. Hope that's helpful.

@ruffles, happy to help! Yes, I'm a big fan of the double-faced cashmere too and J Crew's price points are a steal with the sales. Glad you've collected some beauties too over the years. I wear mine every season; they're great basics and work well with lots of "stuff" in my closet.

    4. Many thanks on the sizing! I will try some of my sons stuff and see. They coming out to be around $170, pricey but I am intrigued by your review.
I love double faced cashmere. I have 2 tops and a wool dress also doubleFaced. I think they are excellent pieces.

    6. Mens 28 might be small on a size 2, unless you have no hips. Remember the rise will be longer and there will be less of a waist to hip differential. Worth a shot if not final sale.
I know when I’ve tried mens Levi’s depending on cut I’d do a 29 or 30 or even a boys size. I’m usually a 0/00 with about 26” waist and 35.5 hip and super long rise from belly button down.

    7. Thanks Suz Haz! I remember ordering an xs shirt and could not get it buttoned around the e hips! They have them in store i may stop by and try it. These short waisted, I like a lower rise. But yes it may mean sitting more at my hips. Lol
I am 0-2. Take 2 in Cameron’s. Jeans 25-26 depending on the cut. So hard to judge. But yes I am aware of the hip factor. Going to try my sons Ludlow pants later. I think they were 28 or 29.

    10. I can’t find his suit. Went to the attic. Now decided to clean there and purge bunch of stuff. My daughter used to dance. I have 3 luggages of costumes. Good day for clean up lol …

    11. I’m doing the same…spent a few hours in the spare room upstairs where all the random stuff belonging to the older two lives. I’d like most of it gone.
