Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. so i would like to get a new pair of shoes (as if i don't have enough already) but i'm trying to go for something i don't already have. i have my eye on a pair of leather mules and a pair of leather lace up boots. both are very "me" but i can't decide which would have a longer shelf life in my closet... seeing as i'm going through my closet now and trying to purge a bunch of stuff... thoughts?

    1. Great Question. As someone who buys and purges way too many shoes I have issues with both styles…Ive tried several Jcrew mules and sold or got rid of them and the same with laceup boots or most ankle boots in general except for the Nordic boots and the crepe sole Nordic boots.
I did however just buy a pair of fur lined leather mules (the Gucci style) to wear as slippers so I feel more put together at home. I can’t tell you how much I love them and how comfortable they are. Note that they are not slippers but that’s how I wear them. I never wanted the real Gucci ones but could see now why they are appealing. The vamp is high enough that they don’t fall off, nor do they make a lot of noise like some slides.
They weren’t a huge investment so I am not concerned about shelf life.
A high quality laceup boot, unless you score a great sale price, will most likely be a bigger investment. I just find them so difficult to wear. YMMV.

    2. I'm fairly lazy about lace up boots, but wear my flat leather mules as house shoes 'cos they are easy. But I wouldn't choose them on the go.

I do love the Nordic boots that Suz mentioned as they are awesomely comfy and I wear them a good bit in the cold weather. I never wear any boots when temps hit the 60s

    3. Another Nordic Boot fan here. They always survive my shoe closet purges because I wear them so much and they are so comfy and warm. After quite a few mistakes, I’ve come to realize that for me, boots don’t get worn if they’re not practical. Shoes, too, for that matter. I love the look of a cute mule, but I don’t need more than a pair or two as the season for backless shoes is not very long here in the upper Midwest.

    4. I also like the Nordic Boot. Although I actually find them too heavy for everyday wear. My go to boots are Aquatalia and La Canadienne for lace ups. Both brands are weather proof, and although pricy, you can usually find both on sale. I love lace up boots and have several pairs, and the La Canadienne pair is by far my favorite for both looks and comfort.

I also second Suz's love of a good shearling lined mule. I have a few of those too, and my latest, and maybe my favorite, is the one Madewell has now because it is less clunky than my uggs and birks. It's called the Layne mule. Madewell has its insider event going on through tomorrow.

  2. Does anyone have an opinion on the quality of the cashmere this year? I need to replace my heather gray crewneck. I'm wondering if I should go for the more expensive Talbots or Pure Cashmere brand sweaters for a basic color that I'll wear a long time.

    1. Hi Mary, I purchased the pale yellow K1313 this past year. It’s held up fairly well. I’m not sure about the New cashmere though. I purchased another brand in Alpine gray which is magnificent from an Italian company that also sells in the U. S. It’s more expensive but it wears well and it’s absolutely gorgeous in color and quality. I purchased a V neck but continue to wear my old Jcrew cashmere from years and years ago which has held up well. I am not familiar with Talbots cashmere nor Everlane which many here rave about. Hope you find something nice as a replacement. I haven’t forgotten the matter which we discussed a month ago. Been very busy working and entertaining friends.

    2. I have a charcoal gray Everlane mockneck. I am not super experienced with cashmere but I can say I have hand washed it and it is perfect. I did try their cashmere turtleneck and maybe a crew neck and prefer sizing up but I don’t like anything too clingy on my upper back. They have some items on sale now. I do like the color and they also make returns easy. Also, all garment measurements are on the site.

    3. Received a Talbots cashmere crewneck in a lovely lavender shade from my mom for my birthday a couple years ago. Pilled after 2 or 3 wears. Not sure about more recent versions but that one was definitely no improvement over J Crew that year.

    4. Purchased pink gingham sweater this year; have only worn 2 or 3 times, but no issues with pilling and the cashmere is soft. I also have the cashmere collared v neck sweater; again, limited wear, but it has worn well. If you can find an Italian cashmere crewneck on Poshmark or Ebay, that could be a good option too. I have several of those and they've held up great. Good luck!

    5. Thanks for the feedback on the cashmere everyone. @lynn--I too have been tied up, but with a bizarre domestic crisis that is almost resolved, so maybe not as much fun as you're having, but I'm working toward seeing the humor of it all. Will email you when I get a chance.

  4. Received orders from combined promo sale. Going to store this weekend to make returns and to see if there are any new arrivals.

    1. Featherweight cashmere stripe sweater. Fit is tts; description says fitted, but I didn't need to size up, so returning larger size. It's soft and I like the color scheme. Will work well with navy, black and khaki. I ordered a Demylee cashmere cardigan in oatmeal and it will pair nicely too for fall.

    2. Feel good t's, masks and cowrie shell earrings. Will work great as "pick me ups" for staff, so happy with the items.

    3. Liberty Eloise floral tunic. I ordered 2 sizes up because of the reviews. It's too big, so not sure if it would be tts. I don't like the material and style enough to reorder, so returning.

    3. Ratti seashell print. I really like the print; puff sleeves are not too exaggerated and fit is tts. I always order up in Ratti for the bust. Pants also fit tts; not a big fan of the polyester material, but I knew that when I ordered. I like the "hook up," so glad to have a transition option for fall.

    4. Silk sandwashed shorts in bandana paisley and navy. I like the silk on both; fit is tts. Wearing bandana print as pj bottoms with ribbed cutaway tank. I ordered up 1 size in the ribbed tank; I think you can go tts since material stretches. Happy with the purchases
