  1. OT but stepped into my local store and liked item BA401 wide leg sweater pants. Didn’t have time to try them on but online reviews look decent. Does anyone here have these pants or any sizing advice?

  2. I visited my store today and one thing in particular caught my eye.
Sommerset blazer in glen plaid English wool
    Item BA472
The colors are beautiful. I love the deep red under the collar. I didn’t try on because I was wearing my gym clothes (I hate doing that but needed to get the errands in ). I just noticed reviews say the shoulders are cut slim. The blazer itself is 100 percent wool and lined with an interior pocket (I only looked inside to see the tag so there may be more.)
I’m not really wearing blazers much these days but this one is a stunner, if the fit is as flattering as the Rhodes, for example, which also has two buttons. I’m afraid the waist is not as nipped, however.
In store it was on a mannequin (though I noticed it hanging up first) styled with a camel cashmere sweater and white denim. I don’t wear either camels sweaters nor white jeans but it looked sharp.

Speaking of cashmere colors, there was a lot of camel but I did notice some pretty thistle, a brighter bubblegum pink, deep fuchsia, navy, a teal ish green and mint. Also that muted salmony color but it was not as prevalent as I feared. These may all be online but it was nice to see a few different colors in person.

    1. BA472 was one of the few items I noticed from the last rollout. I rarely wear blazers, but I purchased a glen plaid blazer from JCrew several years ago. It was styled with a chambray shirt and skinny jeans in one of the catalogs. The colors of the blazer are blue, grey and gold. I’ve worn it often and this lead me to purchase their black/white/pink glen plaid blazer for $74 late last year. If they have a blazer event I’ll probably go for this one too. I think I rarely wore blazers because I work in such a casual environment and I associated blazers with being very dressy. It was the styling in the catalog that made me purchase my first glen plaid blazer from them.

    2. I’ve worn blazers with jeans my entire adult life as I work in a creative field and it was an easy way to look put together. A few years back my dinner out look was always a blazer, distressed jeans and heels. These days I sometimes find blazers too constricting to wear comfortably while I eat and prefer to wear a coat that I take off. I still have a few black blazers but gave my creative daughter some of my others and sold some too that were tight across the shoulders. That long explanation notwithstanding. It was pretty enough that I’d consider it because I still love the look of a blazer with denim.

    3. I like that blazer and the Dalton Top coat Item BA521.

I don’t need any more coats or blazers but these are the only two that caught my eye.

    4. Ooh I hadn’t noticed that. I do have that sort of pinkish/burgundy/deep orangey red Glen plaid topcoat from a few years ago. I def prefer the tortoise buttons on BA521 over the flat matte gold buttons on mine, now that I see it. I’d really need to think long and hard before buying another Glen plaid topcoat even if it is nicer. 😜

  3. @Kikigrl, Suz, thank you for the reviews. I like the blazers and look of the Dalton top coat but as mentioned with slim fit I can only imagine the sleeves are cut very narrow. So this would mean sizing up for me to put a sweater or shirt under it. At times I have them tailored. I have very thin and long arms. I wear blazers all the time and wear them with just about anything. Depending on the weight and cut I will take them off while dining. As far as the cashmere in Bubblegum pink is this one online Suz or a new color? I have vintage Jcrew in this shade and it’s very. Just love pink

    1. I called it bubblegum pink without seeing the color name, Lynn. I’ll check the website and report back! (Note, i think it’s Flamingo but looks warmer on my monitor than it did in store.) I did think the color I’m calling thistle (which is something Heather) was really pretty. It was a pinkish purple (floral multi Heather from the website) but slightly mauve, not the cooler grape Heather shade.
I actually got one Everlane cashmere mockneck in a pale rose color last year and wore it on Easter. My mom absolutely loved how it looked next to my skin. I don’t wear much pink but do enjoy it as an accent, though of course with my coat obsession I have two jcrew coats in the pink family. In a sea of black coats (which I also love) a colored coat brings me a little joy.

    2. @Suz, thank you I was thinking it was the Flamingo one online which was not like the original bubblegum color I have. I bet you’d look very pretty in pink given your dark hair color🥰

    3. Lol @Lynn, not many have seen me in pink…

    4. @Suz, why not combine your favorite red and pink? I bet it would be smashing on you. I saw a Red Loro Piana here yesterday and the moment I saw it I thought of you🤣 There is a lot of red coming out in Spring 2022. I’d love to see you in some other bold colors because they’re coming soon and you’re so creative putting items together and giving us ideas. PS Pink continues to be big too for 2022, Fuschia

    5. Lynn, I like red and pink together but choose not to wear much color. I totally forgot about that banana republic red suit I most definitely do not need but might check it out. I’m not opposed to adding more scarves and accessories if I see something I love.
