  1. OT, I hope those of you who are living in the NE or Louisana as well as other areas where there has been flooding or fires are safe and haven’t suffered any loss of life. Sending love and prayers to all.

    1. Thank you, Lynn. Devastation here worse than Sandy and Irene. Some loss of life…tragic! We have no power but are managing and we’re spared much damage. Sending love and PVs to all. What a time.

    2. I feel like I hit the lottery with this recent storm. After 10 years living on the Hudson river waterfront, 5 on the NYC side and 5 on the Jersey City side, then 4 years in Metairie, LA (New Orleans suburb), all areas that are flooded, I bought a house in Ocean Springs, MS. I’m only a mile from the Gulf of Mexico and the area is definitely a hurricane risk, but I made a point of choosing a neighborhood that is slightly elevated and isn’t prone to heavy flooding like the beachfront properties nearby. I also had an extensive network of French drains installed and I trimmed/cut down any trees that looked like they might be likely fall on my house. I’m so paranoid about flooding and wind damage. The only “damage” I suffered was a few small tree branches in my back yard. Looking at all of the pictures online, I realize how lucky I was this time.

    3. Yikes Kate! We havent had subway service at my station in NYC for nearly two days now, and the basement of pretty much every house and apartment around me (including mine) flooded. Our building elevator has been out since the storm as well. Yesterday while coming home from dinner, we saw lots of abandoned cars still out on tertiary roads. Everyone underestimated Ida!

    4. Hey all! Just seeing this now! Hope everyone is doing well! Definitely underestimated the storm and as we were driving from Manhatan so Staten Island basically a river opened up!
We are good and dry here but still no car! Insurance companies are overwhelmed, just like towing companies! Our car is parked on same street we left it on Wednesday night! Rentals are impossible to get! We been Ubering in SI just to get around! We need nothing! Food comes from Costco and Amazon straight to the door! Lol digital age😂
To top things off both kids have covid! They doing well, but just upstairs on quarantine! So it’s been a week! Bit I am great-full for what it is!
      Have a great weekend all!
