This is the weekly "Looking to VENT with J.Crew" post, a place to share our not-so-stellar experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including poor experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  3. Return shipping: paying $7.50 to ship items back to J. Crew and the fact that the shipping takes 10 days! to get to J crew with the dredded Mail Innovations label they send - then 1-2 weeks to process. Maybe it would be better to print my own label instead - cheaper and faster.

    1. Ask CS to waive the shipping fee. I was going to suck up the 7.50 when I returned stuff but then they charged me for 2 labels and I messaged them about it. CS got back to me and waived both ($15 total) because the stores are not open to do returns that way.

    2. @Miss JR, all returns UPS or mail fees are waived because of closed stores. You can call CS before or after and they will credit the shipping charges. In reference to returns vent below I agree. I always have to telephone to have them pre-return or do a credit if it has been 2 weeks from the date they are shipped back. Pain in the neck. Nordstrom’s returns are very quick and I have ordered items and returned with no problems, price adjustments etc.

    3. @bythelake, ship UPS don’t use the postal service!! The problem with returns is that the returns center is overloaded with returns and short on help. They only employ so many there due to social distancing. For future refresh print the return label from your history yourself. Much easier and don’t forget to select UPS. Hope this helps.

    4. Thanks for all the advice - I just must have bad luck or live in some shipping black hole (though I'm in a major city) - perhaps I'm just farther from the return center that most. I'll try UPS next time - though more of a pain to get it picked up. Or maybe I should stop shopping, which might be the best idea since I've returned more than I've kept.

  4. Also returns-related vent. Last week, I returned items to JC and Anthro by mail. With JC I had to email them ahead of time to ask for a returns fee waiver. Dropped off at UPS, was delivered the next day and no word since. With Anthro, returns are free, I dropped off at USPS and got an email the next day saying my return had been processed and would be getting a refund in 1-3 business days.

I mean, just night and day. How can Anthro do it so quickly and efficiently, and JC fail so badly?

    1. It might be timing. I had an earlier return at Athro that processed somewhat quickly, but my newest one at Antro is delayed. I called and they are processing returns from April 15 today - May 1, so 2 weeks behind at Anthro now.
