Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  2. This probably should be in the "Love" post, but CS has been off the charts awesome. Sent back a box full of returns from different order and the returns were processed in ten days. They made a small error and fixed it within 12 hours of me emailing.

  3. I've maintained hope that I'll get to wear some nice outfits for late spring and early summer. I received the V-neck denim jumpsuit AG774 that popped back during the 60% off sale sale. I took a chance on final sale and sized down based one review. It's a great looking sleeveless jumpsuit. Even sized down there's room for a top underneath, even a thicker one. The waist is tapered, so there's no unibody look. This could definitely do business casual with the right top undeneath and block heel shoes or loafers or booties. Would I do WFH in a jumpsuit? Possibly, but I have so many other choices.

Today I put on light wash trouser jeans, a leopard tissue tneck and a cashmere sweater with a grommet lace-up front. Love these jeans, trouser style is the perfect solution for my figure. I can size down to fit my waist and hips without having the thighs tight.

    1. I think it’s great that you’re still putting effort in getting dressed for home! I’ve been wearing sweats a lot although with little kids it makes it more comfortable. I look longingly at my closet. Last week I managed to wear a couple of cashmere sweaters with my sweatpants lol.

The jumpsuit sounds really nice and I truly hope you’ll get to wear it out. 😊

  4. I've placed several orders recently, surprising myself. It's been all for casual clothes. I found a pair of jean shorts (E7594) that are amazing, and I love the roll cuff linen tees. I also like the linen tiered tank top (AL120). I'm on the fence about the garment dyed short in vintage cotton terry (AJ643). They're super comfortable, but I'm afraid the raw edge of the shorts are going to be too wide and stretched out. They're already kind of wide. Does anyone have these yet? How are they?

  5. OT but important. I have seen certain people modeling face masks on IG and they have put them on incorrectly. Please put them on correctly OVER the nose!! This is serious not and not a fashion show. If unsure google it.

    1. Great point, Lynn! I’ve seen people not have it over their nose too.

    2. Yes, thank you! I'm a healthcare worker, and it's frustrating to see people on the streets having the masks underneath their noses and pulling them down to their chins. It's better to remove the mask from the ear loops to prevent germs from touching your mouth. Sorry for being off topic.

  6. If you got a code in your email this morning for $10-$20 off any purchase, I called CS and they combined it for me with the catalog code. The catalog code expires on the 21st (so tomorrow/Tuesday). I was able to apply both to some linen items. I wear my Juliette cardigans regularly so I was pumped for a linen version.

  8. More of a vent, but has anyone noticed that if you sort by % Off in the sale section, it doesn't actually sort right? The first page will show stuff 70% off, but then by like the 4th page you're at 10%, then it jumps back up to 70% on page 5... Would be such a handy tool for snagging good deals if it worked right.

    1. Yes, it has been that way for a long time. The "discount" grouping works, and you can combine that with "eligible for promotion".

    1. The nautical and lobster themed things remind me of old J. Crew. I'm mainly buying knits or loungewear these days though.

  12. @Liz, I agree. Things are so much more reminiscent of the old Jcrew and I’m pleased. Being a former New Englander I just ordered the Collection Silk Lobster Blouse and the silk scarf. Was able to stack $20.00 off plus the 30% off. I like the cashmere lobster sweater too! My VPS was incorrect when she informed me the other day they were launching winter items. That’s ok pleasantly surprised this morning. Have you ordered or like anything in particular?

    1. Hi Lynn! Like you, I’m a former New Englander so the sailing, coastal vibe is my jam for summer. I’m actually drawn to the crab button down. I can see that with a cute blue stripe skirt for a fun summer outfit. Let us know how the lobster print looks in real life. It looks darling!

      Delete
    2. I too am loving the coastal vibe, I guess it reminds me of the good old days of JCrew and the good old days in general. I will say that the colours, patterns, seeing happy people sailing etc just made me smile and think of summer.
I really like the regatta print and other Ratti nautical print but the items aren’t really something that I’m after. I did order the lobster print dress because I just couldn’t resist and I regretted not getting the lobster print many years ago. I really don’t need that style dress (would rather a regular bra) but it’s something I can easily wear with my kids and I didn’t want to regret not trying it.
If the sweatshirt with the anchor was longer I would’ve bought it since I’ve been throwing sweatshirts on a lot and I love anchors. Sad to see that it says 22 inches.

  13. Very cute. I like the linen pleated pants and shorts, probably would have been good to try them Monday when they were on sale but I wasn’t thinking.
I like the toe ring sandals that are $50 today (tues).
The lobster print is cute. I’m tempted by the silk scarf. There seems to be lot of fun pieces.

  14. pleasantly surprised by the quantity of new items. lots to love.

25% not enough for me to order at this time into the season...

  15. As far as new arrivals, I'm glad to see them, but they are just not my style. I agree it is a preppy 80's look that might be vintage JC, but it just isn't for me. I'm glad others are liking it, and it looks like the quality is good, which is a plus. I'm intrigued by the lobster prints, but I would never wear any of it. Still, happy to have some new arrival to browse.

    1. I basically feel the same. I only do prints in smaller doses, like a scarf. I won’t buy much.

    2. I agree. I love a good lobster print (I have an old lobster print sundress from Anthro and the JCxReed lobster s/s sweater) but those lobsters are a bit big and maybe too bold for me, esp with the 80s turquoise background. I like the cashmere sweater but not if the print is only on the front like so many JC print knits. I love the Ratti sail away print especially in the halter top which is the least practical hot weather top style (can’t wear it to work alone. Need a special bra. Tie keeps unraveling).

  16. I received the barn jacket with Liberty trim in the mossy brown which is really more of a gray and the red.
In all honesty I liked the red much more in store. I will try with a white tee and jeans. I like the mossy brown and it’s just like the color I sold years ago. The floral is dark colors but can read as black which works for me. My biggest issue with these though is the fit. I got the small which is the right choice. The shoulders are fine a touch loose but with no stretch I wouldn’t want to size down, however the fit is really wide and boxy. I know this is typical of a utility type jacket but I do wish I could tighten the waist more than just the two snaps at the back.

Since I won’t be returning any time soon I am keeping them in the closet to try when the weather warms up but I can’t say I love them at first glance.

    1. I also got the first of two Everlane orders from their 25 percent off site wide sale.
I mostly ordered tshirts and Sadly a lot of what I tried just felt too short, some too small. If the item was described as oversized I typically got XS, if not I got S.
      Some keepers.
The Easy raglan tee (original $24) is thick and sturdy, not too short and boxy. As perfect a black tee as one could find. OTOH the pocket tee and organic raglan tee were both too short.
Cotton Mesh sweater, I really like this. It will work over a white tee or black tank. It’s not too sheer, some might just wear it over a bra or bralette but I don’t know if I would. It’s not too boxy and a great spring/summer/beachy type sweater.
Cotton muscle tank, I wish I sized up.
The mockneck muscle tees are just too boxy for me.
Relaxed linen button down, if you don’t love the fit of the jcrew perfect linen shirts this is a good option as it’s loose and not meant to be fitted through the torso. I sized down based on availability, my regular size would have been better.
The air peasant shirt, cute and would be so comfy but just too boho for me.
I’m glad their return process is so easy. It’s already packed up, label printed and ready to be picked up for free during my next mail delivery.

    2. Well that's good info on the barn jacket. I'd probably go with a S, and find the arms too short. Or M and find the body enormous.

I like it but already have a couple of good casual jackets, including the leopard print perfect rain jacket I just picked up. I've actually worn it quite a few times already, it's perfect for walks in the chilly windy weather we've been having.

      Delete
    3. The length of the arms is less of an issue because you would want to cuff. I will try them with some slimmer pants but with wide leg crops they were a big no.

      Delete
    4. Yes! Thank you! I thought it was just me. I also got the missy brown and one size larger since I’ve definitely gained weight during quarantine. But it is huge. The shoulders are fine but everything from the armpit down is huge. It seems to taper out and the buttons in the back do nothing to create a waist. I got mine today and thought maybe its supposed to fit this way? Haven’t decided whether to keep. The brown is a little dark for me - I like a bright coat but the red was too mémorable.

      Delete
    5. It’s just weird because the red in store was not bad at all. Maybe it was steamed. This is def wrinkly. Also in store I did try it over a cotton sweater which maybe added some heft so it didn’t seem as wide.

  19. I received the Button-back midi dress AK215 in neon pink. I ordered it when the price was very low (under $15). I took my larger size, based on a couple of the reviews. This was a good idea, as I think it looks nice with a slightly loose flowing fit. The waist is elastic, so it doesn't gap in the waist on me. It is short-waisted, which works for me, but might be a problem on a long-waisted figure. It's a modest cut, but the side slit adds a little appeal. It's poly, so will probably wear like iron. It does not look or feel cheap.
There were only a few creases from being folded in the package, so I expect this would be a great traveler. If we ever travel again, sigh. It's a color match with the pink on the tipped navy sweater blazer, so when I go back to the office I'll wear them together.

  22. Yesterday I finally bit the bullet and mailed my returns. My 60-day window ends May 11, so I figured given the mailing period and what appears to be their 10-day returns processing period, the returns should just make it. Of course it was a small ordeal on my end that required buying ink for a printer I haven't used in 5 years, waiting for Amazon to ship said ink, then figuring out what box to send the returns back because I did that thing where I removed all the contents as quickly as possible and tossed the box, didn't even bring it into my apt. And now I had three orders of returns to squeeze in the single box that I kept.
I placed an order this morning. The promo feels like a fire sale. Some of the coats are amazing prices if you're looking and you're the right size. I'm jealous of anyone who's getting that guava tweed Daphne at this price!

  23. I ordered a bunch of things at rock bottom prices and was pleasantly surprised with the quality and fit.

Lace pencil skirt in chantilly lace ($27): the navy in my petite size was perfection. The chartreuse was not too my taste (a bit too acid green) so that is going back.

Pleated midi skirt in burgundy ($28) - took my regular size as the petite size is sold out. Perfection but too long for me (I'm 5-2). Am wondering if chopping a few inches off would be an easy fix or would ruin the lines.

Tweed skirt with fringe in green ($28). Nice tailoring in my regular size. A keeper.

High rise wool blend flannel trouser ($40). On the fence about this. Fits nicely but I am not accustomed to a wide leg. How do you style this type of trouser?

Collection shift dress in signature floral print silk twill ($144). Going back. Great print, lovely fabric, but a shapeless sack on me.

V neck floral coverup in sunset stripe ($48). Thinking about this one. I like it but don't love the ruffles.

  24. I do have a few items in my cart with the 50% off sale. Not sure if I'm feeling like there's a small light at the end of the tunnel or what. I received a $10 email coupon and somehow I have rewards. I totally spaced on the $50 off $150 coupon that came in the large catalog. I still have to mail a few returns and will try to get that off my plate this weekend. In other news, small vent that I ordered two t-shirts and a scarf last week and they arrived in a huge box.

I wore my Drapey drawstring pants AJ015 yesterday. I know you didn't like these, but they were great for my rounder shape. I took them in S, and they're loose but not at all saggy in the rear. Too short, of course, but I'm liking them regardless. The hubs liked the look, and he's a tough critic. These will be my golf pants if we ever get to play golf again. Also good for any semi-athletic activity or for traveling (if we ever travel again). They're really glorified joggers. I'd ordered the olive green, but added the black when the price hit $12.

    2. I didn’t love the fit of them on me but for $12 they would be worth it. I’m wearing these JCrew rayon beach pants I bought about five years ago and wishing I had more like them. They’re like pajama pants but I can wear them out. I don’t think they’re worth what I paid but they’re comfy!

  28. Did anyone see the JCrew story on IG a few days ago about making your own muscle tee from a striped shirt??? Lol I thought it was so funny. But boredom took over and I used a seam ripper to cut sleeves off a striped tee I didn’t like. Guess what I still don’t like it!
Then I used the seam ripper to cut the sleeves off that stupid ruffle sleeve sweater I got several years ago. So now it’s like a loose sweater vest/muscle tee combo. I was wearing it yesterday after I did it and it’s super comfy. My husband did say I looked like a sweat hog from Welcome Back Kotter which made me laugh. So it’s good for that too.
Anyone else having some fun with clothes they wouldn’t normally wear?

  30. So - struggling with returns. I just sent back another box with two orders in it about two weeks ago. One order was credited back on Thursday. No word on second one. I emailed to ask and they said even in the same box they might not all get processed at the same time? That seems so weird to me. The item I am waiting for processing is a swimsuit that was over 30 days but well under 60 days for return. Am really hoping they did not lose it.

In more positive news -- I got the striped cashmere crewneck in the gold and cream stripe and it's been a surprise love. Fits well, not pilling, and comfortably warm under a blazer in my slightly chilly house. Also have really loved both sleepy lion print blouses -- have in both colorways and both have been surprisingly versatile with other colors and with jeans and under tippis or cardigans etc.

    2. In late March I also sent a number of returns in one package and they were processes on three different days over the course of a week. 31. Received few orders and happy to report that some items were a definite hit. The new straight cargo leg pants K3449 are amazing. I snatched them during a witching hours few weeks ago, but now that I have them, I would be willing to pay higher. Fabric is sturdy yet soft and comfortable. They run TTS in JCrew sizes. Usually between 2 and 4, I took these in 26. I was concerned that high waist would be too tight (especially in the context of quarantine non-stop eating), but no, they fit great. They do stretch out. So, they will never look like your office pants, but as a casual weekend wear, they are absolutely terrific.
Zip-up seaside pants in indigo AJ459 are a disaster. I also got them during the witching hour, but even at this price I cannot justify keeping them. Somehow they have a very "granny" feel and accentuate any minor bloating one might have (ok, quarantine binging is not helping and it might not be all that "minor" at the moment). I took them in my larger size 4 and they fit ok (a bit tighter on thighs and looser in the waist - awkward fit overall).
Slim stretch perfect shirt in black watch K3730 is amazing. Erring on side of caution i went with P6 and it was the right call. Color is very dark and it looks almost black. But fabric is high quality, the cut is slimming and I can see it as a staple for the holiday season (and beyond). These shirts mysteriously disappeared from the website overnight. Not sure if they were all purchased or the inventory was pulled.

  32. I seem to have lost a post but I was asking if anyone’s tried ALex Mill.

I finally bit the bullet and placed my first order on clothes that I prob could get cheaper at jcrew or elsewhere but mostly natural fibers so I wanted to give them a shot.

Sweater blazer in black and a chunky turtleneck in red. I liked the turtleneck when it first came out but $200? Crazy.

I also decided to yet again try a pair of high waisted pleated pants, the AVERY style. Model shots aren’t great so I don’t have such high hopes but if they fit well they will be great. Says returns are free and easy...size chart seems very small so I ordered two sizes of the pants.

  33. OT: so I'm sort of new to poshmark. I've bought some stuff with fairly good results but I recently decided to try to sell something. I thought I put it up at a decent price. I just got an offer but it was half what I had priced it at. As much as I want a sale, I'm inclined to not even counter the offer. Thoughts?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It’s easy to get insulted. Just counter. You never know. I sell quite a bit but pricing is everywhere. Sometimes stuff goes quickly, other times I can’t get rid of it even for pennies.

      Delete
    2. I counter with my lowest offer and a note stating that. I haven't sold a lot (4 items); it's been a 50/50 split of those paying the original price and the other half wanting to negotiate. I've lost a few orders, but I was ok with it because I wasn't willing to "give away" the items. Good luck!

      Delete
    3. People love to lowball on Poshmark. If they countered half of what I had it posted for, I might split the difference. I hate when people inch back and forth with offers. It all depends on what you're willing to sell it for. I do tend to price items high so that I can lower prices in 10% increments to trigger the discounted shipping. It's a bit of a game and sometimes requires some patience but overall I've had decent luck selling there.

      Delete
    4. I basically do the same Anne. And sometimes I’ll just accept an offer if I realize the end result is just a few bucks. It can get tedious with the nickel and diming. Tonight I sold a pair of sandals for a few bucks less than I hoped but in the end I decided since they weren’t working for me better off clearing them out than having them sit unworn. It’s just a balancing act and if I was smart I’d buy a lot less.

      Delete
    5. Agree on Posh. I almost always receive offers half of what I list. I think Posh buyers are just preprogrammed to lowball. Don't be afraid to decline an offer. Sometimes if it's laughably low I don't even bother to counter. You have an idea of how much something is worth to stay in your closet vs. sold for someone else to enjoy, and you should stick with that number.

    6. I can offer my perspective as I buyer on Poshmark. I’m generally looking for bargains as there are very few things I need. I pick up pieces that have caught my eye in the past, but I didn’t buy retail as the price was too high. I buy new and used, and I don’t do lowball offers. I assume that if a buyer has a high price, then that item is worth a lot more to them than it is to me. My strategy is to “like” an item, and wait to see if any offers come in. I’ve had items that I’ve liked for months that haven’t moved in price, items that have come down significantly over the space of a few months, and items that have been offered to me at increasingly low prices over the course of a day or two. I agree with eeps, stick with the price you feel comfortable with and hopefully the right buyer will come along. Personally as a seller, I’m very motivated to get rid of things so I price my items low and accept most offers, I’d just rather be rid of it.

    7. My strategy is basically the same as shopgrrrl's. Occasionally I list stuff 5 bucks above what I'll accept, since I find folks often place offers 5-10 lower than my posted price.

    8. As a seller I get frustrated with the low-ballers because I think my prices are low and fairly priced (and I'm sure JCA's do the same!) I'm mostly just trying to get *something*

But I also often see pieces on Poshmark that are used or damaged and listed at $5 off of full price, or higher than the current new sale price! Sometimes I wonder if those accounts would take a low-ball offer since they'd likely still make a profit.

    9. @kel I agree, some of the pricing I see on damaged items is way too high. Or used items priced close to retail, etc., I just don’t get it, especially as everyone knows that very few pieces are going to sell at full price even when new at the store where I can try it on and return it if I change my mind. But as I said, I don’t take that as a signal to lowball, I just ignore those listings.

  34. Thank you everyone for your input!! It does give me things to think about both as a seller and a buyer.

I did end up countering the offer but they let it expire. I'm thinking they just wanted something really cheap. I would never sell anything that wasn't NWT or in near perfect condition. This particular item is NWT and priced below the sale price I paid and I am willing to go down some in price but not half. I'll let it sit there for a bit and see what happens.
