  1. Got a few packages yesterday. I absolutely love the embroidered heart PJ set. Not sure why it sat so long on the sale page? I ordered my normal PJ size (M) and while the PJ tee is slightly cropped, it will still cover to the top of the bottoms. Also got the super cozy mockneck pullover in camel and wore it to at home yoga last night. I size way up to an XL, but I liked how drapey that made it. My favorite piece is the biker shorts though. These are the same fabric components as the old leggings (not like the thin 7/8 "weekend" ones they currently tout). I got a small in navy and will go back for the black color. They're a great length and I can see wearing them under some tunics as we go into warmer temps. Still waiting on my linen juliette cardi and some other pieces.

Anybody have the silk tie dye tunic or tie-dyed hoodie and can speak to their sizing/quality? I also liked the button-front tunic in blue and white as that's my favorite team's colors, but it has no reviews.

    1. I have the bike shorts in black, I got them at a great price a couple weeks ago, and wish I'd ordered the navy as well as black. They are a good weight and length.

    2. Not sure if this helps, but the Mom Edit blog has a try-on of the tie dye tunic (scroll down to #7): https://themomedit.com/women-loungewear-athleta-studio-wide-leg-sweatpants-11-outfit-ideas/.

  2. How long does it take for jcrew to process a return ? I returned a wrong item sent to me. It has been a week since it was delivered. I want its refund.

    1. @anonymous, You have to wait a full 14 days from the day you shipped the items back. If it hasn’t been credited call CS and they will take of it. Good luck

  3. I got the navy shirtwaist eyelet dress today. It's pretty, but I followed the reviews and ordered one size up and it's too big through the shoulders and sleeves, so I'll do an exchange. I wish they had offered this in petites. It's borderline too long on 5'4" me but because I have longer legs for my height, I think I can get away with it. You can't take up the hem without ruining the line of the eyelet.

    1. For those who can’t read the WSJ article go to CNBC. It may not be that bad.

    3. I feel like you could have written that same story on J.Crew every year for the last 6-7 years, and the only difference would be coronavirus pandemic. You can replace that with a number of problems such as "expansion problems" or "lack of leadership or direction" or "declining mall business countrywide" or "declining quality and customer service."

I wholeheartedly believe JC should return to being storeless. Back in the old days, I hated buying from catalogs because I wanted to try stuff on and feel fabrics, and mailing in an order (I didn't have a credit card to buy over the phone, so had to use checks), then waiting for it to be processed and mailed to me, took forever. Nowadays, more businesses are online only. I say: make JC & Madewell online only or online + booth in existing dept stores and invest the savings into better online/phone customer service by eliminating return fees.

    4. Oh this makes so sad. I love J.crew. Can we still order stuff online and it will ship or does filing for bankruptcy mean complete shutdown?

    5. Noooo, no more bad news. I’m in Canada so I’m not sure how government is helping businesses right now in the US but is there any help coming for them?

    6. Well, a chapter 11 is a reorganization bankruptcy, vs chapter 7 which is for liquidation. I should expect the first, since despite the heavy debt burden they do have a established brand which could potentially recover if retail opens again. For the creditors, chapter 11 may have a better end result than liquidation. There's going to be a lot more of these coming up, the complete shut down of retail is a financial disaster.

    7. Madewell used to be a high-quality retailer. But their aesthetic is also trashed. No direction. Generic dresses & tops that look like JCPenney ware. Their denim & cotton basics and most collabs are still decent.

JC & MW should merge. That should save them some $$$.

    8. 3ppm YES.
I’m not a fan of all the rayon floral stuff ANYWHERE and agree it can look like fast fashion junk or easily move into the frumpy category. I also much preferred Madewell for their jeans and whisper cotton.

  5. Reporting back on my ALex Mill experience. First off, my stuff shipped so quickly and I got it basically next day. Granted I’m right outside NYC but it was a pleasant surprise. I ordered all sale items
A sweater blazer in merino cotton. For the price I think it’s nicer than most of the blends crew and MADEWELL has put out. It’s a nice weight and can be worn all seasons. I wanted it more as a cardigan for around the house. It has large pockets and is a good length. I could see throwing it over a tank or tee in warmer weather. The shoulders are a little wide in the S but I didn’t want it to feel tight if I layered.
Chunky mockneck in red. I’ve liked this since I first saw it but $198 no way. For the sale price of $50ish it’s a good deal. It’s wool with a little cashmere. Beautiful chunky knit. A little boxy but not bad with loose jeans and a partial tuck as they show it. The color is gorgeous. Not itchy at all and I’m super sensitive.
AVERY pleated pants. I ordered two sizes because it’s so hard to tell from the size chart which def seems smaller than Crew. I can be a 00 or a 0 in pants. They’re smallest is a 0 so I tried a 0/2. The 2 gives them a little more slouchiness which feels right As opposed to a perfect fit. I tried with a cotton sweater and with a black button down for a faux jump suit look. I don’t think the pleats give the effect of a big belly. this is the type of material that may need to be steamed when washed, a poplin with stretch, but I think they work. My 22 year old loved them.
Also got my Everlane Day gloves which literally are as comfortable as slippers. They remind me of old Ceces but a higher vamp and not quite as round. my smaller Size (which I always get in everlane, even when people say to size up) and shape works well for me. I think I’m def keeping the rose and have to decide if it’s worth keeping the black and white. It’s hard to try on white shoes now. I didn’t like the pointy version, the 40 hour flat, nearly as much. They are definitely wider if that’s an issue. I don’t have narrow feet but don’t find Everlane shoes run small on me.

    1. I posted some pics on IG @wearthislikethis.
I have to say it feels good to wear clothes that are not sweats but are still comfortable enough to lounge around. Have to do it more often.

    2. I don't think the pants look too large, if you are going for a an easy fit. But you only show the front...when my pants are too big I see it in the seat. How would they work with the sleeveless tie neck lace top? Could you swap the waist tie for a belt or is it attached?

Yes, I agree it's better to dress most days even if you stay in. I've been wearing something different every day, and putting on earrings and house shoes. Today I wore a black wide leg jeans, a black henley bodysuit plus calf hair leopard belt and loafers, tortise heart shaped hoops. (Sometimes I do all black too.)

I also tried out the Shoreditch straight leg jeans from the last 60% off sale for under $15. AF892. I ordered my 'usual' 4Tall. They magnify an hourglass shape with the high yoked waist. Tuck in a plaid blouse and you have the perfect Ellie May Clampett look. The hubs was following me around ;-)

    3. The Avery pants look great for that easy slouchy look but how are they when sitting? I find that when I wear pants that are a larger size and have the pleats, they balloon up comically when I sit.

    4. PBanos I know exactly what you mean about pants being too big. I took a pic of the back of the pants and they’re not bad. The smaller size fit a little tighter across the butt which created a little gap of fabric below the waist, the larger size doesn’t do that. I feel like the fabric might not work with the lace but I didn’t think about it, the black button down was a perfect match. I have plenty of black tops to try. The belt can be changed. Those jeans look cute!!! You’re so funny.

EEPS that’s a funny point. I didn’t notice. I’ll do Few more try ons.

I also tried the pants with block heels and sneakers so I’d consider them versatile. Great vacation pants, if we can ever do that again. The easy fit also makes them work for sitting at softball tournaments. If we can ever do that again. Yes these are things I think about when I buy clothes. How will they work for long car rides and sitting for eight hours watching softball games.

    5. I hadn’t noticed these before but this jcrew version is cute. Item AL404
Similar style, but a shorter inseam.

    6. They are cute pants, but don't come in black. White not great for softball tournaments, I'd think. I'd be grubby in 10 minutes.

I could see me liking the white for work, but a 24 1/2" inseam hits my calf too high. I can do 26". I'd probably need talls which don't exist.

      Delete
    7. Oh I don’t do white either. I regret all my white pant purchases TBH! I agree I don’t like the 24” inseam. It’s usually a weird length on me as well, unless as shown on the model the pants are worn a little low and loose.

    8. PBANOS the more I think of it I could totally see Jenna styling those cropped pleated pants in a fun way. If they did them in more neutrals and the fit worked they are reminiscent of old crew and as a follower of a Chris Benz who wears pants like this I could see his inspiration too.

    9. Hmmmn, yes. Pleated pants are generally good for my hourglass shape, especially with a higher waist. A fitted top & looser bottoms are friendlier to my wide shoulders and chunky thighs than skinny pants with a loose top. So I'm on board.

    10. I like both silhouettes but don’t like wearing tight jeans or pants in summer.
Took a pic of the back of the pants again. Prob not my greatest rear view but not terrible for loose pants!

    11. thanks for the heads up on the alex mill haul. i've been taking a look around the website and see quite a bit that looks nice for both myself and my husband, especially at the lower price point! it looks like there's no final sale so it wouldn't hurt to try it out.

    12. Supposedly returns are free and easy although I haven’t scheduled pickup of my second pair of pants. I wore the sweater blazer yesterday and my husband and daughter both complimented. I guess it’s a lot nicer looking than my robe or the fleece I usually wear in the house.
