"Looking to VENT" with J.Crew

This is the weekly "Looking to VENT with J.Crew" post, a place to share our not-so-stellar experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including poor experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. Update on Returns: I sent a few returns on 3-24, arrived 3-29, still waiting. CS said to allow 2 weeks to process. I'm sure they are short staffed, but thought I'd let others know how long they are taking. Who knows if they will credit me correctly. Still I'm thankful the center is still open to accept returns and hope they are keeping their employees safe.

    1. Call CS and they should credit you immediately if the tracking number shows delivered. I did this on Sat. Complain and good luck! Stay well.

    2. JC processed one today (the item with the actual $7.50 label) I called to see when they will credit for other 2 items (different orders) they said 2-3 more days to process the other ones? All the return/packing slips were stapled together, should it really take 2-3 days to enter them? Hopefully they will show up soon.
I've never shipped back a return to JC, as I'm lucky to have a store where returns are super fast and easy.

    3. Thank you for sharing this info, I have never returned by mail either and this made me look into it. For those new to it, If you generated the return label you can track your return. Mine says it should be received by Thursday...which doesn’t mean I will get credited then but I’ll keep my eyes on it.

  2. Not so much a vent, but an "at last!". They are offering free shipping to Canada for orders of $250 or more. (Otherwise the shipping is $14.)

Unfortunately, they have changed their sales practices and seem to be limiting most of the promos to the US. Strangely, I get the emails about the US only promos, so I look on enviously as I see the 40% off, 50% off and even 60% off promos going on south of the border. (But I really don't need anything so perhaps they are doing me a favor)

Apologies if this has already been posted.

Hoping that J Crew makes it through.

    Stay safe everyone

    2. I keep getting the US emails too then am disappointed when I see there is zero promo for Canada (aside from shipping on $250 which is high). Even though I shouldn’t shop now it could be a nice treat.

In other news, Nordstrom Canada has launched its Canadian website (free ship free returns) but so far selection isn’t great. Maybe when stores open up again it will be better.

    3. @jan Thanks for the info on the new Nordstrom Canada site. I took a very quick peek but didn’t unfortunately see any J.Crew pieces.

As for J.Crew’s current practices with regard to Canada, it’s going to take a lot more than free shipping on $250+ to get me back.

  3. NUBUCK WINTER BOOTS WITH WEDGE CREPE SOLE
    Item AE996

So I ordered these last week and yesterday price was reduced to 56. I used rewards etc so I wasn’t going to let it bother me, however today the boots came and they didn’t include the second set of laces. Ugh. The red laces are one of the reasons I liked the boots.
Also, unlike the Nordic boots these DO NOT have the shearling insole. That was one of my favorite features of the boots because I wear them without socks, like UGGS.

I honestly feel like I have issues with each order. I feel like a spoiled child complaining but come on.

    1. Well you can get a free return due to the laces, and ask for an exchange at the same price. Does not help with insoles, though you can buy those, I guess.

I bought the black/ivory nordic boots and the black laces were missing, but the price was low enough I didn't care. (Besides I prefer the red laces)

I got a photo from my stepson who received his marled charcoal linen hoodie sweater (20!) and is already wearing it & a big smile. So a bright spot on the day.

    2. My size is sold out now. :(. They did credit me the price difference but I still don’t have the right laces. Oh well. It’s not like those specific laces are easy to find either but I’ll make do.

I might see if I can use the insole from an old pair of Uggs

    3. At least they actually did a price adjustment - I thought those were no longer done?

    4. They don’t but I guess it would have been better than me returning them.

  4. Super disappointed that the New Balance leopard calf hair sneakers I ordered in early March (at full price because they are ALWAYS excluded from promos), which were in stock when I ordered them, but subsequently backordered until April 8th, are NOW further backordered until July 13th. I have been trying to be prudent and not spend money during this time, and was really looking forward to receiving these :(

  5. I've been trying to order the nightshirt in end-on-end cotton. The product listing says "extra 50% off with code SALEONSALE," but after I add it to my bag and enter the code, I get an error that it's ineligible. It's the middle of the night and I can't sleep, so customer service isn't available and even if it was, I really can't be bothered.
