Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Anyone else get the help us design women's clothes survey e-mail? I was annoyed because I couldn't see the comment box in the display on my laptop for some reason but all I was shown were shirts and sweatshirts with words or cutesy designs like flowers and bikinis. I don't ever but them now but the prices shown with each example were very high, I said not interested for every one. I wonder if people see the same time of items? I didn't get the e-mail actually associated with my J Crew account though.

  2. I have returns. All of the impulse purchases... Because I should know better.

  3. I went yesterday to return a whole bunch of stuff. Looked around a bit but bought nothing. When I asked about in store promotions I was told there were none. Lots of outerwear and fuzzy looking sweaters that I have no interest in. Tired looking word tees and sweatshirts - enough already! The sweatshirt with embroidered flowers on the sleeves looked very good & not cropped. May try that next time it’s on promo. Hoping the big holiday rollout holds more promise.

    2. Same here. Lots of fuzzy blend sweaters which I'll be steering clear of. My store did have a few of the novelty coats placed at the front of racks with tags that said "like this style? we'll ship for free!" never mind you can't try your size but...must be their way of creating interest by the scarce single pretty coat on the rack.

I did try on this year's cocoon coat which is 80% wool and much softer than last year's version. They've gone back to the somewhat fuller fur too. I'm thinking about a grey one to replace the one I sold when I lost weight. I bought a black one last year second hand but still love the grey!

No purchases though. One of my returns were the trouser jeans in classic rinse which I liked but at 5'8" would have only been wearable with flats and I would rather wear that style with heeled boots/heels. I sized down one from my toothpick size.

  4. Speaking of the Holiday roll out...I’m hoping JCrew made a Buffalo plaid coat cocoon/pea coatish style. Particularly the one they released around Winter of 2010 or 2011? Been wanting one for the longest time.

    1. The pics of the dezember preview show a tartan blazer,a tartan lady day jacket and a jacket with buffalo plaid. The buffalo jacket is more of a puffer style if i saw it correctly.

    2. I think there is actually a tartan pencil skirt lol

    3. :) Cannot wait for the holiday collection. I am also hoping to have some discount on cashmere items, I'd be happy with 20% off.

    4. I saw a post in the 'other retailers' thread that Talbot's has a buffalo plaid coat this season - $378 / 90% wool, collarless with a front zip.

  5. The Parke blazer in English wool and English herringbone wool are now eligible for promos and available in a few sizes. I ordered both earlier, at full price, but I haven't worn them. They're both still hanging in the closet in my guest room with the tags on. I like them a lot, but not enough for full price. So...I reordered them both using the 30% off promo early this AM. Too bad I didn't still have my extra 15% off codes, but I'm satisfied with the 30% off price.

    1. How did you find the sizings on those? I usually wear 00 regular for J Crew blazers, but found that I had to size down to 00P for the green tweed Parke blazer bc it was so big in the regular sizes. I've noticed that the reviews online for it say it runs big, but the brown and yellow herringbone Parke blazers are said to fit small? I'm interested in ordering the brown one, but I wasn't sure if I should in the same size as the green or a bigger one.

    2. I tried the Parke blazer and it is a weird fit on me so I sent it back. Very large in the chest. Even a P did not work. Just strange the way it fits me.

    3. I thought both blazers ran tts. I ordered my regular size and they fit the same as my other J.Crew blazers.

  6. I'm confused, there's 40% off and 25% off with code BRRR and 30% off other stuff with code CHILL. website crashed on me as I was looking through after I clicked on the 30% off CHILL banner.

    1. Thanks for pointing out the dual codes. I had the lace short-sleeve top in my bag and it's cheaper with the BRRR code but the Parke blazer in English wool is cheaper with the CHILL code.

I guess with free shipping I don't mind doing two separate orders, but seems inconvenient and wasteful if the items could have shipped together.

It feels like A Beautiful Mind up in here trying to figure out how to get the best prices lately.

  7. Was looking for the lady wool day coat to be included in the 40% off promo. With the sale code being Brrr, you would think it would be. Nope. Not paying $378 for it. The hot pink is so darling though!

  9. I went to the mall for the first time in ages to return Gap sweaters and actually the Capri leather flip flops. Honestly I can't rember the last time I was in the store.

I noticed a Pretty red wool blazer and black and gray houndstooth with red collar, the fleece half zips and jackets looked terrible to me, and the faux fur jacket felt cheap.

I tried on a pair of Point Sur jeans from the sale section that looked and felt terrible.
New jeans, vintage straight, super cute with stripes down the side. I don't like the way vintage straight fit me, the length is awkward, so I didn't like them on. The black and gray houndstooth blazer was cute, although I sold one recently, the red collar makes this special to me, but it didn't lay well, maybe it needed to be steamed but I wasn't impressed.

    Shoes:
Sale section try ons included the black suede penny sandals with rhinestones. I LOVED these. Unfortunately they don't really make sense for me. They're more for fall than summer and the colors in the stones are not ideal, however I could have bought them anyway but the price was DOUBLE what it is online. I didn't feel like asking them to price match.
I also tried on the pointy toe slingbacks inthe cerise color, the ones that are on sale. I didn't like the color but loved the shoe. It runs a little small. But then I saw the same shoe by Vince camuto on the sale rack in Bloomies for less than $50.
What I wanted to try on, the bubble sleeve turtleneck in black' was unavailable in any size close to what I'd need.

Oh, as I was returning the sandals a woman was making a return and the assoc was so rude. He told her it was from factory and she couldn't return it to the store. She was explaining how she didn't order it from factory, she ordered from jcrew.com and he was a real jerk to her. I know others have had this experience. I left as it was all going down but I felt bad for her.

I didn't see any of my old favorite stylists. A few familiar faces but many new people.

    1. Suz, I noticed on another thread that you were having a tough time finding nice black sweaters (presumably why you were returning things at Gap) - wondering whether you’d looked at either Aritzia or Club Monaco. Both do excellent merino, and CM’s cashmere has always been very good. The Wilfred line in particular at Aritzia is full of brilliant knits. Just a thought
      @poettodesign

    2. Actually I kept one black cable knit sweater, cotton from the Gap. I didn't necessarily want wool or cashmere. I'll check them out though. I haven't bought anything from Aritzia but I like the palette and simplicity. CM seems a little pricey for me but I'll def take a look. THX!

    3. Was there any percent off sale? Thanks!

    4. Not in Short Hills Jcrew. Gap I think had some sale but I didn't look closely.

    5. Short Hills has 25% off sale plus an additional 20% for cardholders which started yesterday. Regular merch is 30% with regular exclusions plus an add'l 20% off for cardholders. It was very busy yesterday and today with lots of happy customers while I was working.

    6. Nothing off sale in out store (except the 20% for cardholders). Otherwise 30% off full priced merchandise (with some exclusions) plus 20% for cardholders. HTH

    7. @Cheritheberry Thank you! CS adjusted my online order for the 25% off sale. Now fingers crossed the popback jacket ships (previous order was cancelled). I stopped in for returns and more stores need to have % off sale.
Ordered oversized cashmere wrap in heather olive (beautiful color & very versatile) during 40% off promo. Nicely done J Crew. Cashmere is soft and quality is evident. I’m pleased with oversized style; it will work well for travel & cool temps when you need a layer, but don’t want to wear a jacket.

    8. Mygoddy, I'm glad you were able to get an adjustment :)

  10. What a sh!tshow. The website doesn't work, I lost rewards that showed up the other day, and I can only see half of the images, also, shipping doesn't seem to be free anymore for cardholders or rewards members?

    1. In addition I hpguess there's no more ship to store option? I click on it and it shows a list of stores but no where to click to actually ship it there.

    2. NWM, got the ship to store option.

    3. Me too! I got an email about rewards, but when I logged into the website, no rewards were listed. Nothing I want right now anyway, but I'm wondering if I should contact CS or just wait to see if they show back up.

  12. Does anyone know if you can still stack the code cardperks code with a J.Crew card? The site doesn’t combine of course and I thought I’d ask here before I dedicate the time to calling CS.

  13. No Ably I tried. Still screwing us over with this card and rewards story

    1. Thanks. So disappointing. Don’t advertise it on Instagram and Facebook ads where the verbage makes it sounds like it’s an on-going, every day perk. This is when they start to lose me - these games are the worst!

  14. You guys. I have never owned a pair of printed pants before but I wore the silk easy pant in the new jungle cat print (with a white hammered silk tee and my grey Dulci heels, also both J. Crew) to a work event and I felt really great! So glad I took a fashion "risk" and bought something outside my comfort zone.

    1. That's so nice to hear! I'm pretty much a uniform dresser but sometimes I'll do something different. I ended up with the lace easy pants in red and I've only worn them a few times but each time I have I've gotten compliments and feel great. I did like these pants in the black but the red works for me because I have shoes, coats, etc that match.

    2. @Alyssa, that sounds like a great outfit! I haven’t tried printed or lace pants yet (the red look lovely SuzHas) but I did buy the roaming tiger silk blouse which is out of my comfort zone as far as loud prints go.

    3. I love that print Jan! I wish I snagged the dress. I never wear dresses, but that's my favorite silhouette and it would be such a fun statement piece.

      Delete
    4. @SuzHas, if the dress had been longer I would’ve bought it instead of the blouse, the dress is beautiful! The quality of the blouse is very good, reminds me of older Jcrew. I won’t wear it often but as you said it’s a statement piece. I’ve seen the dress pop back recently in case you’re still interested.

  15. More frustration, as a rewards member I'm supposed to get free shipping but maybe they've changed it to a minimum order again? I did ship to store instead but still, what's the truth? Website is still wonky. Sigh.

  16. I tried to buy the balloon sleeve turtleneck in store but it wasn't available in my size but it wasn't available. Last night I ordered the small using my rewards and extra 15% off code. Of course this morning I see the XS and XXS. reviews say it runs really large. I just ordered both and I'm HOPING the store will allow me to just exchange for the right size if needed so I don't lose my rewards and the extra discount. So ridiculous. BTW only one of my style guide codes worked online. I'll post a follow up once I determine which is the correct size and what happens at the store. Otherwise I'll have to call CS to deal with it. After what I witnessed at the store yesterday re customer service, I'm not sure the store is the place to get it anymore.

    1. The manager at my local store (Chester) said I could come to her for an exchange that used rewards, and she would place the exchange order at the correct price...

    2. Thank you. I can always try that if necessary.

  17. I went yesterday to a suburban Chicago locationto return a few things and get out of the city and lo and behold, the whole store was 30% off full price, plus another 20% off if you're a JC card holder! Sooo...I couldn't resist and got a tee and then tried on the wideleg trouser jeans. The wash I wanted wasn't in stock but the person helping me (had to be a manager- she was REALLY good), checked the online prices and said the in-store deal was better, ordered me the wash I wanted and sent it to me expedited shipping at no charge. Sometimes good things still happen at J.Crew but it's kind of hit or miss.
