J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. Liking the look of the high heel boots (blk and the print). Waiting on some real reviews before I buy. Not a fan of the slouchy boots style coming out/back...not even on the stuart weitzmans. Too 80s for me

    1. I'm bummed I didn't grab the black ones last night -they were included in the 35% off for cardholders and not included this morning. Probably best to wait for reviews though :)

  2. Sweaters in the super soft yarn.
    Yay or nay for quality?

    1. I say nay. they look like they will pill easily.

    2. They remind me of a mockneck I got from Madewell two winters ago. It was very soft, minimally itchy, and pilled easily. I liked that it was washable but ultimately I sold it. If jcrew current version is similar or if it's like the dream sweater or any other blend, I'll pass. As mentioned previously every single one of my Jcrew and Madewell blends from recent years look like garbage. I literally have dozens of sweaters that look like garbage after a few wears. I've used a pill remover and sweater comb just to be able to leave the house looking barely presentable.

    3. I say nay (because of itchiness and pilling).

    4. They remind me of the dream sweater, which is a nay for me. Dislike this material very much.

    5. Nay for me, too. Every time I try the blended sweaters I regret it. Last year’s LOL sweater already hit the Goodwill donation bin.

    6. That nylon/wool/alpaca/elastane blend is especially terrible - I got the v-neck cardigan in that blend two years ago, wore it once and it looked like this. Yes, it is really soft, but after a wear it looked like a dog blanket, or the vintage cardigan that Kurt Cobain wore on MTV Unplugged (according to the link his was acrylic, mohair and Lycra so not too different).

    7. Silver_lining, that's exactly what the Madewell mockneck looked like. Horrible! Fool me once, fool me twice...ok, I've been fooled more than that but I'm not going to allow it to happen anymore.

    8. Ah, the Dream yarn, which was the object of extensive JCA grousing years ago. Had many of those sweaters. Ironically, almost every sweater J Crew makes today is inferior to that Dream blend.

    9. Agree with @ruffles! I have one Dream sweater and quality is still better than the ones from now

  3. Is cashmere ever gets % off before it's Spring time at only a few sizes in ridiculous colors left? Waffle knit sweater speaks to me :) in all colors

    1. That's great! What were you able to snag?

    2. This morning's sales section update was great. It was 2000+ when I looked! Sadly nothing in my size but I enjoyed seeing some old goodies.

    3. @cheritheberry striped long sleeve tee in cerise and tan which is a combination I recently discovered and love and a letter L pin necklace. For my daughter I ordered the Fashionably Late tee, it’s a surprise gift 🎁 and I know she’ll love it. So appropriate too🤣 Great score with the 35% off.
I wishlisted two of the coats, the Daphe in navy speckled tweed and the herringbone coat in navy. Both great coats, can’t choose. How about you?

    4. I placed multiple orders too. From new roll out, ordered oversized cashmere wrap in heather olive. Love my other JC cashmere wraps. It was included in 35% off + 15% card perks promo. Placed a few sale orders too. I can’t get enough of SZ Blockprints and ordered Kurta tunic that finally hit sale. Also, faux fur slides popped back in my size and re-ordered v neck boyfriend cashmere sweater in moss that was cancelled. Good news is it’s already shipped, so hope it’s in good condition.

    5. Collection leather midi skirt in navy. Fit is tts. Leather is a very good quality and pockets are a plus. Navy is a hard color to find in leather and the dark navy color will pair with so many options. I’ve already worn it with older J Crew leather pieces (Collection leather zip front shirt jacket and sleeveless leather shell). Was able to order during 40% off promo & stacked 15% off coupon.

    6. @Mygoddy - the quality of the skirt is good. I have to return my size 2 as it runs a little snug on the waist for me. A size 4 will not work.
I might go for their leather pants in navy. At least the waist is elastic. 😬

    7. @JSR Agree with you about the quality. Hate the skirt didn’t work. I would definitely recommend that you try the leather leggings. I own the navy and black; leggings are a go to for me in fall/winter. The elastic is a plus for sure and I really like the fact they’re full length and not cropped. Quality is also really nice. I was able to order them on promo last year. Let us know if you try them.

  9. Hello JCAs, I have a question about the Point Sur seaside linen pants. Reviews are very mixed on TTS vs sizing down, with many comments about them stretching out. Can anyone here comment on the sizing, as well as whether they shrink at all? I’m concerned about the Lyocell blend as I’ve had some serious shrinkage with other lyocell/tencel garments.

    1. I found the fit to be odd: too loose in some spots and too tight in others. Maybe it’s just my shape as some people seem to love them.

    2. I sized down in both the linen and the chambray - all ran very large and I could tell they'd look like I was wearing deflated balloons a few hours in. Love them and they don’t shrink.

    3. Thanks Jeanne and Ably17! It’s good to know they don’t shrink. I have a similar style from Joe Fresh that turned into surprise summer favorites for me, and I’d love a second pair but want to get the sizing right.

  10. My order from last week arrived today - the balloon sleeve merino turtleneck in black and the ivory square neck top. I am a 6 on top and ordered a S in the turtleneck - it is a looser (but not sloppy) fit and was the right size - my Tippis are mostly small. It's 100% merino and while lightweight it's not too flimsy although I may wear a tank under it. The sleeves aren't too over the top and they're just enough flair. I will definitely get some wear out of this.

The reviews on the square neck top were dismal but I still tried it. I was able to get a 6 and it's a bit snug in the shoulders (reviews say it runs small) so an 8 may have been better. I need to play around with styling but the neck is different - I wish it were a little wider - the sleeves are a bit puffy so I can see why it may not work on everyone.

This morning I ordered the yellow silk floral skirt with rewards and the promo and the black midi pleated skirt in the sale section. I have found myself reaching for these style skirts way more than my pencils lately. I say it over and over but really trying to be more diligent about what I'm adding to my closet.

  11. Hi just ordered cocoon coat in fresh bouquet ....online it looks like a beautiful pink. Has anyone seen this in person? Is the pink same as picture? Thank u!,,

  12. Point Sur oversized patch pocket cardigan. I really like this sweater; seaweed is a lovely green and there are hints of pink and tan speckled in. It’s really pretty. I sized down per the reviews and that works. I’m curious about trying my normal size, so if it pops back, I’ll order.

V neck boyfriend boyfriend cashmere sweater in moss. This color is on sale. Ordered this same style last year in vivid burgundy when it went on sale and really liked the feel of the cashmere and the fit. No issues with pilling and I’ve worn the sweater several times. Moss is a very nice olive and I sized down one. The fit works and length is not too short. I also ordered my normal size. Want to see if the fit is even more relaxed since this style is great for pairing with leggings.
