Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Crew this {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

  1. No trip to the store for me this past weekend, but I did receive the Nordic Parka last Thursday, and may be sending it back, or at least swapping for a smaller size. I ordered the XSmall, and feel as if I am swimming in it a bit. The faux-fur on the hood is massive, too, so I think I'm going to try it on again, this time with without it, and see if I like it better that way. The quality on the coat seems to be quite good, although I do not like that it has buttons instead of snaps. They are quite cumbersome and do not make for getting it on and off easily. I don't think I would use them very often, just opting for the zipper instead. I own the Canada Goose Trillium in black, but wanted a navy parka, so decided to try out the J.Crew version, since it was half the price...just not sure it will be a keeper though. It does feel as if it would be quite warm, even without layering underneath, so I am leaning toward trying the smaller size to see if I can get a better fit. For those of you looking for an alternative to the Trillium, it is a viable option, and even better if you can get it on promo or extra % off.

On another shopping-related note, I've shared a list of sales & deals taking place from some of my favorite retailers in this post on All Things Simplified. :)

  2. Went to J. Crew. Sale racks had same tired boring stuff. Not much that looked interesting. I saw lots of that sweatshirt with the flower applique on the shoulders...The green/blue was a great color combo but what a horrible fit. Even when sizing up the sweatshirt was short in a bad way and the sleeves were too short in the way that made it look skimpy since it was well below 3/4 sleeve but not quite long enough for long sleeve. Considered getting the sparkly painter tee but even sizing up it is way way too fitted on the body.

  3. I'm finally a convert to the new(ish) Matchstick jeans. I've tried a few washes and Ive liked the Matchstick Cone Denim jean in Preston wash and the Matchstick jean in racerbrook wash. The rise is at least a mid-rise but not very high rise. Any jean that works for me post-holidy food binge is my friend!

I didn't care for the Matchstick Japanese selvedge jean in Emerson wash because there was no stretch at all (some may like that about them, though).

    1. Agreed Cate - I really like the new matchsticks although I never owned a pair of the old ones so I can't compare. I do not like the black matchsticks with stretch however - I found them to be unflattering.

  4. I went to J. Crew the day after Christmas. I went early, so it was pretty mellow I decided to place an order before I left the house was and glad I did. None of the items I wanted were available in my size in the store.

Review of the pique bib shirt and fun fringe knit top on Gigi's Gone Shopping.

    1. I love that pique bib shirt and now it's at $24.99 online, but FS. oooooh, the temptation...

    2. I own the Pique Bib shirt as well. Haven't worn it yet though...

I went to J.Crew Saturday morning, too. Surprised at how mellow the store was. I remember it being busy, same day last year. Made returns, walked around the store to see what I can buy, came out with nothing even with the promo and sales...

    3. I had to size up the the pique bib shirt. my reg size has snug across the shoulders ?? I am not interested in any of the sale right now. BUT i DO LOVE HEARING WHAT OTHERS ARE LIKING /LOVING

    4. I had to go up one size as well in this shirt. I agree that it looked TTS to big but way to snug when I put it on over my head. The shoulders and back were tight. It is a very nice shirt and can be worn by itself which is not always the case with a white shirt.

    5. I wish they would make a white pique button up shirt with a collar. I had one from Macy's charter club and wore until it was threadbare!

    6. JSR - Were you at SF on Sat am? I was there!

Unknown - I agree that it was tight in the shoulders.

Doodle Dachshund - Good point about opacity. This one doesn't need a cami

Shopping Celle - I would buy one from J. Crew with a collar, too.

    7. @Gigi - Argh...missed you?! I was there probably around 10:30am?

    8. JSR - I arrived right around that time but probably wasn't inside J. Crew until 11am.

    1. My store just had 40% off sale. They'd had some great returns (cocoon coats, etc), but surprisingly, those coats were marked full price.

    2. Thank you, Wendy! I wish they'd get going in earnest with the sales on winter items!

  6. Went Saturday to catch after Christmas sales and did a few price adjustments. Ordered buffalo check excursion vest in navy since it was 50% off sale + educator discount. Also, picked up navy silk cami for $17. Have several & they're great for layering or alone for a casual look, especially in spring/summer. Finally, "bit" on cape trend & picked up Vince double-breasted leather cape in Shiraz. Liked JC options, but wanted leather. It was 70% off @ Neiman Marcus & with my Christmas gift card pricing was great. Was also able to pick up a pair of Theory merino wool jogger pants to pair with my navy JC cashmere swing sweater. It's finally cold here in D/FW, so going to have a chance to wear JC cashmere sweats & boyfriend cashmere sweater with golden goose sneakers. Just introduced to this brand; wouldn't pay full price for "kicks," but there's a pair that's 70% off @ Net-a-porter, so I decided to purchase.

    1. Hi Mygoddy, sounds like some great finds! You're lucky they let you stack the educator discount, the stores in Canada never let me use mine with extra sale. :)

    2. @ jan, I was really happy with the deals; that's a shame they won't let you stack the discount on sale items. Seems like JC would be more consistent with how they treat "us." :(

  7. I went yesterday it was pretty quiet but the mall was quiet in general because of bad weather. I found the store pretty picked over and a bit sparse like they are waiting for new arrivals to fill space. I did pick up jeans on sale and the new Drapey long sleeve tee (true to size). I didn't see anything new and exciting in the sale section.

  8. I grabbed that Fair Isle Merino Skirt on a popback today. I'm intrigued by all the great reviews on here and on the site. It was a M on popback, which will probably be too big. Although the reviews all say runs small. I'm a solid 2/26 in pants, though, so a M seems wrong. We'll see. No promo on regular priced items, but I used a $25 off $100 card. Unless it's the greatest thing I've ever seen, I probably won't keep it!

I'm really bored/uninspired by J. Crew lately. I ordered some awesome booties from ShopBop, but that's all my after Christmas shopping.

    1. Do you mean the Collection one? If so I can't imagine a M working for you. I'm quite a bit larger than you, a size 6, and the S fit me well. I think it's just that one reviewer who said it fit small. The people I asked here said TTS. Maybe getting it will make you love it and become excited to stalk a smaller size.

    2. Well, an XXS popped up this morning, which I grabbed. I probably need an XS, so I'll once again be the lunatic returning crazy orders to the store.

    3. Lol, well I think you're more likely to fit one size down than two sizes up. I guess it depends on your shape and how much of a 2 your actually are :p.

  9. Any ideas on what sales will be coming from JCrew? I really haven't been wowed by any of the post-Christmas sales at most of my favorite stores.

  10. I visited the store on 12/26 and picked up this lovely crystal necklace that looks like bows... $35 before 50% off final sale. Can't find it online, though. Can anyone tell me the name or style number? Pic: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ed6a04ri7572g31/2015-12-29%2012.25.16.jpg?dl=0
