"Looking to VENT" with J.Crew

This is the weekly "Looking to VENT with J.Crew" post, a place to share our not-so-stellar experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including poor experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. Sort of a vent, but more of an inquiry. I received the Factory early access email this morning but the link isn't working. Anybody else having problems?

    1. Hi, yes I had that same problem when I tried it on my phone, but it worked on my laptop. I was annoyed too! The new arrivals are cute, though. There is an exact copy of the black and white ski sweater. None of the outerwear is part of the preview though, so that's disappointing.

    2. Julie, thanks, I tried on my laptop and it worked as well. Agree this rollout is meager.

  2. I placed three separate orders this week that have been out of stock after the fact and not shipped - VERY frustrating. I've never had so many issues in such a short time frame. The retail orders I was contacted about the same day however the factory order was several days later...I guess the shopping gods are telling me to slow down. :(

    1. I've had 2 orders cancelled this week due to lack of inventory because J.Crew has decided to fill these orders with items from the retail stores. My orders with multiple items arrive in multiple pkgs from different stores all over the country. This new way of filling orders is horrible! I completely understand your frustrations.

  3. My factory double serge cotton pencil literally fell apart at the seams yesterday. Yes, I understand its factory, but I noticed when I got home that the entire hem had come undone. And this was my second time wearing it. Bah!

    1. Shouldn't matter if it is factory or regular stock. Problems with defective items come from either place regularly.

  4. My vent: PANTS!!!! Can we get full length pants in the winter? Is that too much to ask for? Okay vent is over...

    1. kamantha....you don't want to wear wool racing-stripe track pants to work? lol

  5. Agreed! I am returning my factory Winnie's in wool in Cabranet. Love the pants with the exception of the length. It is finally chilly in PA and I just can't do the exposed ankle. It really is a dumb concept for winter
Also received an order fulfilled from store and two items have security tags still attached. Thankfully I have other returns to make so I don't have to make a special trip but still not happy about it.

  6. That security tag issue is unacceptable- I was just at anthro and someone was coming back in because the tag was still on a sweater they bought. This should never happen! I mean, they should automatically and always check every item as they enter it into the cash. And on charge sends? Obviously no one is looking for damage before shipping them out...

  7. I hate the new Surepost delivery. My order was shipped on the Nov 13. UPS dropped it off at the post office on Nov 18. I still haven't received the package and the USPS tracking number is not working. I called J Crew and they basically told me what I already knew. They won't do anything about until the full 8 business days have passed, which is Nov 25, two weeks after the item shipped! SO annoying. I tried to call the post office but gave up after holding for 15 minutes. I don't have time for this $:)&!

  8. I realize this vent is premature, but I have ordered several things (many were popbacks) over the last couple of weeks and had them sent to Canada where I will be returning for the holidays (I'm currently overseas). My plan was to just get everything that I had my eye on while things were in stock (and the sales were good), then go through everything when I arrive in a couple of weeks and decide what to keep. My gripe is that I can't trust that J Crew hasn't sent me either wrong or defective items, and by the time I will be able to check it will be difficult to impossible to find replacements. I shouldn't have to worry about this, but the number of incidents I hear from other JCAs makes me worry indeed.
