Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. Gap has a leopard coat in their girls' section, which make work for petite ladies (Hi JSR! Was going to post this in yesterday's thread but didn't want it to get lost).

    1. I actually just ordered the leopard coat from the JCrew girls section for myself - hoping it fits as a cropped leopard coat on me :o)

    2. I purchased a faux fur leopard coat from ASOS many years ago, and I have to say it has held up over time. I even washed it last year in the washer, and it was fine. The fur did not get nappy or knotty, and I remember paying about $70 for it. Every time I wear it my friends ask where it came from. Also, it is super warm - to the point that I often overheat in it even though I live in NYC and wear it into late fall.

  2. I'd love to post a review or compliment of Gap but they've cancelled my order twice now. :/

  3. I watched the Ralph Lauren show yesterday. It's easy to see why the company's sales have ticked up ... the clothes were beautiful. Glen plaids, suits, leather and suede, sparkle, dreamy dresses. Wearable right off the runway. And tailoring! Not one OTS ruffle or exaggerated, disposable trend.

I need to shop RL more often.

  4. BR has some great mules right now. Much nicer IMHO than those at J Crew and last week they were 30% off. Their wool pants are fully lined and were also on sale (in the $60-80 range on sale). The quality is much better. They also have a really cute jean jacket in the stores (have not seen it online) with a military flair to it. Great quality.

  5. I saw a lovely new line of bags at Simons last week and thought of the many JCAs that are missing the larger J.Crew bags of old. Simons is a small Canadian retailer that used to have just three stores in Quebec, but has expanded to other provinces in the past few years. The new bags are their own house brand (made in Italy), the quality of the leather looked wonderful, and the cuts were classic and understated. Here are two of my favourites:
