Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Well, my dear hubby broke my flower necklace. One of the large wooden flowers popped off after he dropped it. Any suggestions on how to fix it? It doesn't look flat, so I'm not sure hot glue will work. It almost looks like it screws in. It may be a lost cause and I'll need to replace it. It's one of my favs and I bought it from our very own Ema!

    2. Thanks for the information. I was going to make a purchase yesterday and would not have know it was on sale today! Love this site. 25% off in Shrewsberry NJ store.

  2. 25% off store purchases this weekend, until 9/24, we'll, select items anyway. Too bad it's not the 30% off it was last week. And still no % off sale that's just sitting there.

    1. I really wish they would extend this 25% off to sale. Lots of exclusions on the 25% off in store too.
I was in yesterday, looked around for 5 minutes and left. If they had % off sale I would have shopped.

    2. Stopped in too for in store pick ups. Sale is grouped by prices for the most part and is just languishing. I tried bumblebee pants and really like them. They have this lovely gold stripe detail on the inside. They were on sale and able to stack coupon with educator's discount. Placed an order for tall.

    3. Picked up an order and made a return yesterday; no 25% off signage, and no mention of it. I’ve never seen either SA that was working before. The turnover at my store has been impressive, but not unexpected.

    4. Checked and stores in D/FW are including sale in 25% off.

    6. @unknown I called the store. I wanted to order something online but thought pricing might be better via store and I was right.

    7. 25% off including sale at my store. Scored a shirt for $20 which included a $10 off coupon in addition to the percentage discount.

    8. Went to my store and sale was NOT included in 25% off. Left empty handed, and rather peeved that it wasn't included, as it seems other stores are offering 25% off sale. Makes the 25% off your purchase sign they had out front misleading.

  3. The Wrap Coat in Boiled Wool in moss is going back today. I love the cozy look and beautiful color but the oversized, dropped shoulders are a deal breaker. A very unflattering fit in what could have been a fabulous piece. Bummed.

    3. I returned mine as well. The color sapphire was just gorgeous but it was too bathrobe looking for me.

    4. I'm 50/50 on my Daphne. Like the cut and color (camel), but I have to get used to the construction--exposed seams. For the price I paid...might be good enough to keep.

Unless I see something better in the next roll-outs.

What I would love to own is a buffalo print coat. The ones made in recent past, didn't come in petite.

    5. Mine is out for delivery now, size XXS petite in lavender. I was so hoping this one would work out for me, but now I'm worried! I have really short legs so anything oversized overwhelms me.

I got the toggle coat in 00 petite and I loved the fit everywhere except the underarms - way too tight. I was afraid I would rip it eventually and it was so uncomfortable, so I exchanged for 0 petite which is better in the arms (but still a bit tight), but now somewhat big everywhere else. I may have to return it, but I really wanted to love this one, too.

    6. If you do not love it....return it. I tried it on and it was so so as well. so I did not buy it. no regrets.

  5. I just noticed the Factory Suede Motorcycle Jacket in Olive. I looooove it. No reviews yet. Any thoughts or opinions on it? I'm really tempted. The navy leather version of this jacket is one of my most favorite Factory purchases in a very long time.

    4. Please let us know about the color, ruffles! It looked almost brown on the web site photos, which I think I'd get more wear out of than the olive. I'd also like to know about the length and if it's TTS. Thanks!

  6. no visit for me...J Crew is making me work too hard on navigating the sale/promo or lack there of situation. I am not a fan of searching for a hour or so every morning...guess its a good time to take a break fro the crewlade....I 'll be back when all this nonsense stops. It will happen because I can't imagine they have sold alot since the % off sale is just not there. prices were better a few mths ago.

  7. No store visit for me but I finally got my post up with some of the last rollout including the tiered dot tulle skirt, Rue St. Honore tee, organza heart skirt, pull on velvet skirt, Daphne coat, leopard vest, ruffle zip turtleneck, star blouse, and the merino tie sleeve sweater.

You can see the post on my blog here

Definitely a lot more misses than hits for me this go around. Not detailed in the post are the dried rose Parke blazer which I did keep in a size 4, so the smaller of my two sizes - I love the shade of pink, it doesn't read too mauve to me and is truly a rose pink. I also kept the plaid cross strap Sadie flats - I think they're really cute, TTS to slightly big but not enough to go down a half size - I took my usual J.Crew size. And they're not terribly narrow either. They are a wool looking material so definitely more of a fall/winter shoe.

Also bummed about the lack of extra % off in the sale section but it's making me wonder if they're going to start marking down to a lower price and not doing a % off sale. There are some good prices to be had on some items.

    1. You quoted me! I'm the one who said I have a love hate relationship with the turtleneck tippi with ruffles. I saw the gray in my store and liked it, I would get the black. I'm still not sure it won't make me look like a pinhead but I think the zippers give it a little edge. I think it would work well with the black wool mini from last winter or even the Oxford check mini, and of course denim. I'll def have to try theblack.

    2. Thanks for the reviews Anne! Nothing in this rollout really spoke to me but I appreciate you taking the time to do the try on's. I did end up placing an order yesterday as I had a 15% code that expired on 9/25 and the Ratti Diamond print skirt went on sale. I picked up two pairs of earrings and the Ruffle Dress in blue that was marked down to $35. It is weird the newer markdowns seem to have been adjusted down to lower prices due to offering no additional % off but all the old markdowns have price points that are just too high if there is no additional % off.

      Delete
    3. Yes, Anne thanks for the thorough reviews. Agree with your point about recent markdowns on new items. Sadie flats are really cute too. 50% off shoes was a win for me since the shoes I wanted were included and you could stack the coupon. Also ordered Thomas Mason navy shirtdress (huge fan of TM) during up to 40% off sale & it was 40% off.

@JessF That skirt is so cute; thinking about ordering tall since regular is too short. It's crazy that recent sale items are cheaper than some of the much older items. J Crew needs to figure that one out.

      Delete
    4. Suz, I was 90% sure it was you! If the black isn't sheer like the grey then I will probably cave at some point.

And yes...the older markdowns are still sooo $$ which is partially why I'm thinking they've got this new philosophy with sale. But...go back and mark down the old stuff too.

Thanks to all for the kind words :) I think we have a mini rollout next week too...

      Delete
    5. @Anne, totally agree with your comment about some of the pricing on the Sale items. Some seem very reasonably priced and fall in line with what I would or have paid during other % off sales. But i think JC should stick to the % off strategy -- it creates the idea that you're getting a discount, instead of purchasing priced as mark. Who knows though.

In any case, thanks for the excellent reviews! I'm glad you got the Tiered skirt -- sometimes stuff just speaks to you and you just have to go with it, despite feeling a bit guilty. (In that spirit, go for the vest, looks like fun and good for a night out.)

That ruffle turtleneck looks more interesting on than online! It gave me a bit of a Star Trek vibe onine, but looks perfectly nice, I like it! If I didn't have such a spherical, Charlie Brown head, I would rock this turtleneck. :-)

That heart skirt does look a tad childish doesn't it? :-( The fabric choice doesn't help either.

    6. I think if they are marking down to a lower price on the first cut, then they are following the madewell model. around springtime madewell stopped during their extra percentage off sale items in-store -- whereas it had previously, for years, been a fairly guaranteed 20 to 40% off sale items in store -- and now upon first sale things are marked down around 50%. it reminds me of what anthropologie used to do, where when something hit sale you could pretty much count on it being at least 50% off. I think madewell is still doing pretty well despite the changed sale structure (they certainly still have my business), so I wonder if j. crew will be moving in that direction too.

    7. Enjoyed the reviews, thanks!

  8. tried the faux fur vest. too short (should have been a few inches longer |IMO ) tried the new cocoon coat (always wanted the grey in the past few years) this years grey is a mix of white / grey and i don't like it enough to buy it . the fit seemed more tapered this year as well...which was the only plus. the sweater blazer (the short cropped one...looked sill on me. no velvet for me the skirt looked terrible on me.elastic waist..ick. just my opinions though. good luck to everyone on finding some gems.

    2. I have to agree with you Unknown. I tried it on yesterday and was not in love or in like with it. The material felt like it would look worn out after a few wears. It would also attract so much lint. I'm glad I tried it on but now I can stop thinking about it.

  13. Did anyone buy and keep the Collection Rugby Sweater? Thanks to mygoddy (thank you!), I was able to order one. I'm trying to figure out how to wear it. It's long, halfway to my knees in front and a bit longer in back. It's a bit oversized, even though I sized down and I think this is the correct size. So that makes it a bit slouchy, but the collar is crisp and white so it's not reading that casual to me. I'm just not sure how to wear it. It's not quite long enough to be considered a dress, not even one of J. Crew's shorter ones. I guess it's more like a tunic. I don't think it will look right with black skinnies or leggings. I can't find the product page for it so I can't even see how it was worn by the model. Could use some ideas if you have any, thank you!

    2. Hi cate! Here is the item page for the sweater. I can't tell if the model is wearing dark jeans or navy pants (like the Cameron?).

Honestly, I was drawing a blank as well.. but I'd defer to mygoddy on this one since she's such a great stylist! I realized that I have this sweater in the same ivory/navy colorway so I think I may wear it with a white button-down and that will be my substitute for the rugby sweater. ; )

    3. Paula, that's a big help thank you! I don't know why I couldn't find the product page before. Well I was wrong, it does look cute with black pants. I think it helps the shoes aren't black too. I think loafers work well with it because they're got the same preppy vibe.

silver_lining, that combo will look like it I agree! Smart idea! Thanks too for the product page. Hope mygoddy will chime in too, or anyone else who has ideas!

    4. I think the Martie crops pictured are navy not black, oops. So maybe a dark blue denim would work too. I could also try it with my old navy Minnie pants, similar cut I think.

    5. @silver_lining Thank you! Like your ideas and thanks for the product page!
@cate Yeah! Glad you picked it up. I'm going to pair with navy suede leggings. Navy stripe is dark enough that you could wear black; mixing black with navy has become more popular. A dark denim would definitely work and I could also see wearing with suede and/or leather leggings. The khaki accent makes me think that would be an option too. The leopard loaders looked really cute on model; will try that option. I have a pair of Princetown embroidered mules that I'll wear too along with booties. Let us know what you decide. By the way, if anyone needs a small, I'm returning to NorthPark Mall tomorrow afternoon.

  15. I didn't pay any attention to the fake fur coat and vests...ok, so fake fur is back. I've seen it resurrected so many times in my life time, it just isn't anything new to me. But today I found a darling faux leopard cubby jacket with 3/4 sleeves by the brand "KUT" at the Goodwill that made me so happy when I put it on. It's collarless and fully lined and has hook and eye closures up the front. It's a nice quality faux fur, which I think is important when going faux. $14.99...find of the day! I'll "J Crew" it by pairing it with denim, black jeans, booties. I'll be wearing it with my new red beret I bought from Urban Outfitters. The Crew berets are twice the price at the UO ones ($29.00) and backordered until December 25th. Heck with that! Happy Hunting, Everyone!

    4. Thanks, ladies! I also made a fun find. I was walking past all the clothing that the Goodwill deems possible "Halloween" outfits and what do I see...a great looking camo print shirt jacket! It's from American Apparel, the print is very close in scale and colorway as the camo Tippi and has really good details like double buttons on the sleeve hems, on the gusseted pockets, nice hidden button placket on the front. I like it so much better than the Camo shirt jacket and it was only $6.99! Lesson here is check the Halloween clothing racks....you might find a treasure!

    5. TWO of J Crews hottest trendy items at Goodwill for $15 or less! This is also a great reminder that the further down the "fast fashion" rabbit hole J Crew goes, the greater the options for alternatives at every price point.

Makes those "Best Sellers" and "No Brainers" a whole lot less exclusive when scores of people are wearing the same look as you for 1/10 the price.

      Delete
    6. isn't that the truth about fast fashion. I wore the camo jacket today and got a ton of compliments. Lots of Nordstrom sales people asked me where I got it. I love saying it was thrifted for $6.99!

  18. I got the bathrobe, aka the boiled wool wrap coat in black today.
    I ordered Tall XS.
Fit: drop shoulders. Waist line is too high. I'm only 5'6" but the belt sits a bit high. I'd size up but the shoulders would be really droopy. It's not flattering.
Feel: feels like a heavy cardigan. Not a coat. Very comfortable.
Bottom line: I'd buy this at the right price, and $142 is not it. I love it for lounging around the house in cold weather. I'd probably wear it every single day. It feels great. At a lower price point and knowing how I would wear it, basically like a "house coat" I wouldn't care that it's not the most flattering on me, it would just be practical, like the layers of ugly fleece I wear when I'm cold.
Since it's going to be close to 90 today I tried it on over shorts and a tank. I'll try it on again over jeans. I was really hoping it would be a little longer.

    1. Its like a heavyweight sweater. At least with black, the drop shoulders and exposed seams aren't as noticeable. Or still is?

      Delete
    2. I was thinking the same thing - that maybe the black would hide some of the fit/design shortcomings. But I'm kind of tired of rationalizing for you, J Crew.

      Delete
    3. J. Crew has gotten years and years of feedback to knock it off with the dropped shoulders. I understand still using it in some slouchy/casual/oversized tops, but not in otherwise tailored outerwear.

      Delete
    4. I don't even mind the drop shoulders necessarily, it's just that the rest of the jacket looks skimpy in comparison. I suppose if I really wanted I could remove or move the belt loops but not sure that would help.

    5. I got mine the other day, and it's going back...petite XXS in lavender. It's cute, but it's super lightweight and not like a coat at all in my opinion...and too much like a bathrobe for me.

    1. @SarahFolz me too, with an occassional promo 'new style', like the 50% off for shoes and the 40% off of select items they did earlier this week. I bought the Dover blazer for $120 which is a great pricepoint for such a beautiful and well made blazer

  23. I received the Daisylace pants in black, size 0 and love them. I recently lost weight, but bought my usual size and they fit well, so I think reviews stating they run small are accurate. I wish the lace matched up on the seams. They are good quality, but not great quality. There are too many loose threads, and the mismatched seams cheapens them a tad. They are beautiful, though, and so unique. I didn't have the too big in the waist problem some reviews mentioned, even though I was expecting to, as I have a rather small waist. I was not pinning any hopes on them working out, but I'm glad they did. I've really whittled my closet down and these filled a pants gap. Thanks to JCA silver lining for sharing a promo code that I used for these!

  24. I know it's not officially time to "vent", but I have to let off steam about the website. First world problems, for sure, but my goodness, the J.Crew website of today must be one of the worst functioning retail website out there. OK - I will be fair and qualify that with "for a major retailer". I am a pretty determined shopper, but even I have to throw up my hands and give up. Searches cause the website to "hang". Clicking for more details on an item takes you to a page with a number of items. You can't see the sale prices until it's time to check out. The list goes on and on. Come on, J. Crew! You can't stay in business if people can't actually buy your merchandise...

    6. I've been having major problems as well, on the Canadian website. Blank product pages, for sure. But I can't seem to get into my shopping cart at all. It hangs up for ages, then finally shows a bunch of gobbly-gook on the page. Good thing I don't want to actually make a purchase these days!

    7. Canadian page has been really wonky for sure. I havew called CS and told them about issues...but nothing done.
With the lack of promos and web site...I feel like J Crew is trying to get rid of me. must because I only shop promos...guess I am going to have to be finding somewhere new to shop.Bought a 2in1 parka coat from the gap this weekend. 40 % off and an +20% with insider code. great buy.

    8. I just sent them an email. On the bright side, it saves me a lot of money when their website won't load or I can't get in to my shopping cart!

  25. Coming here in deep sadness. Just spent over an hour trying to find good blouses in marigold or floral - nothing at a price point I can afford. Halfway through, it occurred to me that the jcrew of even last year would already have on its site a dozen (bow) blouse options, definitely a range of tops in burnt gold or mustard or marigold, and everything in a silk or cotton blend, with some poly creeping in, yes. But there was an *anticipation* of demand, which is more important than the misinterpretation of "buy now, wear now" we're seeing. I'm honestly depressed. What's more galling is that all the designers are offering blends. With the environment going to hell in a hand basket, this is just disgusting: a $400 silk and lurex blend blouse at Tory. Anything around $100 is guaranteed to be all poly. Found one cotton top of questionable design. Everything already sold out at sezane (I expect their prices to be rocketing up soon). All my old now blouses are in pinks and blues. I wanted to add a warmer colour to my wardrobe. Nothing.

    1. I was in a boutique shop that abounded with polyester. Sure, some things were cute. But no, I did not buy. They felt gross and we're stupidly overpriced for the fabric.

    2. I can't believe I'm not advocating for the 'crew, but have you tried Everlane? I bought one of their silk black button ups (sleeveless) for about $68 and it's holding up nicely with a gorgeous drape.

    3. Breakfast with Tiffany, thanks! Yes, I'm well acquainted with Everlane - their minimalism leaves smth to be desired once I want to get a silk shirt in a colour other than blue/white/grey, sadly. Certainly wish they branched out a bit more...

    4. @maqsad have you heard of the fold london? not cheap but 10% off for signing up for emails. They have this blouse in silk: https://thefoldlondon.com/product/dartmouth-blouse-saffron-silk/

not sure what the return policy is for sending back from US though.

    5. Thanks, Cass! I will check it out. I have been getting some mailers from englaish retailers, but I don't know if The Fold was one of them. Thanks again!

  26. My cart has three items in it; two of them are the last one in my size. Having a really hard time pulling the trigger, as all three have been their current price for a while, but have previously been offered at 40% off this price. I’ve watched two other things sell out because I refuse to pay this much more than what they’ve been offered for in the past. This may be the end of my Crew shopping.

    1. This is why I want 'everyday' consistent pricing. As much as I realize that feeling like getting a big discount encourages shoppers to buy on a certain day/promo, it discourages everyone on the non-promo days. I don't think the vicious promo cycle is efficient. It is frustrating overall. Shoppers won't buy something they know cost, say, $30 less a few days or weeks ago. It slows sales. And is frustrating to the patron. It's such a time waster and mind game. Mark it down and keep it there until it sells out. I don't buy from Made well but I like their pricing philosophy. It doesn't feel like one price for one shopper one day, another for another on a different (or even the same!) day.

    2. me too Wendy, stuff in my cart and I'm still waiting. Bottom line is I don't really *need* any of it so I can wait and if it sells out, I'm fine with it.
Anyone remember in ye olde J Crew days a promo was a super rare and exciting thing! Maybe 1-2x a year. (?) And if I needed something, (like a sweater in the Fall) I just bought it, since I knew that was the price and it was not going to change.

    3. I used to go crazy during those 1-2x a year when JC would have a sale. I remember buying in bulk during those rare occasions.

  28. This may have been mentioned already but Nordstrom has a full size run in the gold velvet skirt if anyone was looking for it.

  29. I didn't know that! Just ordered it and thank you for mentioning it. I'm still deciding whether to keep the blue but wanted to see how the gold looks and then pick one. Sad I can't buy it with the 30% promo I used for the blue one but oh well

  30. Off topic, and late, but I just realized I have a 20% off code for anthropologie that expires tonight, and I do not need it. If interested, it is NGX0917GRT.
