  1. It's nice to see the 40% discount, also a restock on the website this morning. I skipped most of the sales recently, but today I did splurge on a jeweled sweatshirt, silver viv flats, and navy dot No 2 skirt with the extra 40% off, also the restocked houndstooth skimmer pants with 20% off from the Factory.

    1. Hi Sunny--was the Nolita denim jacket in the "Indigo" color or the "Rinse" color? Thanks so much!!

    2. I believe it was Indigo, but the receipt said Itochu...so not sure what that means! hope that helps!

    3. hi sunny! which store did you get your nolita jacket at? did you see any other sizes? would love to get one too!

  4. Happy to see the 40% but I'm holding off on large sale orders until final sale is gone. I picked up a dress that I've been waiting to make it to a price that I'm willing to pay and lucky for me, it turned out to not be final sale.

  5. Glad to see they're matching the in-store promo online! I was able to get a nice Christmas gift for DH and the Martinas I've been stalking all year.

I also just posted reviews of two sale items, the Painted Jewel Sweatshirt and the Embroidered Tunic
    here.

  6. Nothing I want from sale. There is so much warm weather clothing that I have no interest in. I think J. Crew waited too long to mark down this stuff, and some of it is still not marked down. Seashorse shorts are $44, Hawaiian Sunset shorts are $54, Liberty Chive Floral shorts are $54, Tiki shorts $49, Roller Girl shorts $44, Ratti Regatta shorts $79 (!!), Corduroy shorts $49 (those have been sitting there in sale Forever), Rope Stripe shorts $59. I know there are places that don't get cold weather, but I have to believe that even in most of those places people are not buying some of this stuff. They are not seriously trying to pare down their sale inventory with this 40% off Final Sale promo.

    1. I agree. I decided to look at the sale section for the first time in a while...because of the 40%...but I am not interested in buying summer stuff. Pages and pages of bathing suits. There have been some pop backs and a few new items but I feel like I have seen most of this stuff in the sale section for months.

      Delete
    2. Hi cate, I agree that this summer stuff should've been slashed a while ago. I don't do Final Sale (unless a particular coat from last winter miraculously pops back, ha!), and especially not enough of it to get to free shipping. 40% and free ship, no minimum may get some more stuff moving... we'll see what happens during the week as the sale goes on.

That being said, there are some non-FS items that are promo priced that might be nice to pick up for Xmas gifts like the makeup brushes, iPhone cases and pouches. The girls' canvas overnight back (04750) is cute and I may pick that up for my niece.

      Delete
    3. Cate is right that they waited way too long to get rid of this summer stuff. But I did make an order of kids stuff this morning. It's all final sale, but I'm reasonably sure the items will work.

I have to say that I'm beginning to develop a complex about the Hawaiian print Carrie dress. It's now $28 - (down from $148 - about 80% off) and still available in all sizes. When I first saw it at full price I thought it was among the most misguided JC items I had ever seen. But now that it has proven to be the most unwanted JC item ever, I feel like we should all adopt one out of compassion.

    4. cousy, ha! Watch that dress show up as a "gift" to all cardholders or something.

      Delete
    5. cousy, lol! I didn't even consider the Carrie dresses because of the bra situation. The length of the dress didn't help either. I cannot even adopt one out of compassion.

silver_lining, there are odds and ends (for me, it is socks) that I would buy at 40% off, but I'm not placing an order and paying $8.95 shipping for a few pairs of socks.

reaganflowers, there is usually a new-to-sale item or two that catch my eye, but nothing I need. This may be because I'm buying at 25% off new rollout promos rather than waiting for it to go to sale. It's either I like something so much I won't wait in case it sells out or I am not interested at all and sale doesn't tempt me.

    6. If you'd like to see what your Hawaiian sunset dress adoptee looks like I reviewed it here. It looks cute with ...wait for it...a chambray shirt, tied.

      Delete
    7. Gigi, that makes me like it paired with the chambray shirt (tied or untied), but the bra situation is still a dealbreaker for me.

      Delete
    8. Gigi - you're right! The dress looks pretty good with a chambray shirt. Thanks for showing us how to make lemonade out of lemons. You've got a great sense of style.

But you didn't buy the dress, right? (Hence the adoption campaign...)

    9. This dress came out when J. Crew seemed to be peaking at Design Fail 101. Cute prints on impractical or just plain ugly designs, or shorts that were too short for many of their customers and they were to ignorant to offer in more than just the 3" length so now they are stuck with this stuf and still asking way too much. I hope they've figured out why this stuff is lingering and offer more variety in their prints next Spring and Summer. I was really irritated with them because I loved so many of the prints but what they put it on made zero sense. I think this print would have been a smash if they had put it on some other things, the Carrie dress is just an awkward cut and the fabric felt heavy for a summer dress. I'd love to see some of these retro prints on retro inspired items like a shirtdress or an A line skirt. Their summer offerings left me scratching my head and apparently many others too judging from the sale section.

      Delete
    10. When this print came out I totally hated it in every form, shirt, shorts, dress -- ick. But then I saw the Carrie dress in the dot print on several of you and thought, oh, so cute! But I cannot do white unless it's pure cotton and easy to wash b/c I am a mess and cannot keep white white. So I tried on the Hawaiian print version, and lo and behold, adopted it. (At the time, I think it was only $40 after all the sales and discounts.) It turned out to be super easy to wear and wash, it's breathable and not wrinkly, and best yet, had a matching girls dress for my daughter (who still likes when we match, so I will do it as long as she continues). Anyway, I'm from Hawaii, and as far away from home as I can be, so I get to buy anything with Hawaii in its name w/o any regard to public opinion!

  7. Just did two orders.

First up, got the cece leather flats in navy for $47. Added 2 vintage floral tees and the crystal floral garland necklace as ride-ons to try. Am curious about the tees - so pretty but they look way too delicate to last more than a few wears.

Next, using the instyle25 code, I got three crewcuts boy sweaters in size 14! They remind me of my old j.crew shetland sweaters that I wore to pieces - I usually am sized out of women's sweaters (I am 5-2, normally around 100 pounds), so hoping these will fit. They were $33 each.

Any petite women out there have luck with boys' sweaters?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Sorry...got the ceces for 57, not 47.

      Delete
    2. I get the boys basic sweatshirts and tees also, sometimes socks and especially sneakers. I can't wear regular J Crew shoes since they aren't wide enough but the kid's shoes are great plus free shipping and returns :-)

  8. I'm finally much more interested in a few things w/the addl % off. I'm deciding on what I can gamble on to go down to a lower price and what I should consider right now. I agree it's nice to see this online.

    1. Me too Gigi- been eyeing a silk top that nobody wants so I'm thinking it'll make a second cut which will bring it down to a price point I'm more comfortable. So def a gamble on waiting or pulling plug. Although the price difference might be negligible. I'd really want to get it with my rewards card- anyone know when that usually comes out?

      Delete
    2. Hi cuckoo - according to JC's CC site, the rewards cards have been issued ("allow 4-6 weeks for delivery". Huh? Is Mickey walking it to my house?). Based on past years I'd say they should be here late October-early November with a December 15th expiration date.

    3. silver_lining - Mickey's on his bike. Give him a minute.

  9. I have had my eye on a few things and placed an order, the Liberty Shirt in Strawberrry Thief I have been wanting forever so grabbed that quickly, also got the baseball merino sweater with jeweled collar and the Swoop Dress in Punk Floral popped back in my size so I snagged that at $77. I missed out on it when it first came out and really wanted it.

    1. How is the sizing on the liberty popover in strawberry thief? I'm not sure these days if I am a 0 or a 2 in J.Crew shirts. How does the sizing compare to the button-ups or other tops? Thanks!

      Delete
    2. I'm not sure about this one in particular but imagine its like the others, I hope it is. I'm usually a 10 in Perfect Shirts but take an 8 in the popovers

      Delete
    3. ugh-I tried to a Liberty and it says the promotion code is excluded.

      Delete
    4. Well that is obnoxious! It still worked last night. I guess I'm not buying this shirt. :(

      Delete
    5. Me neither, just tried the code and got the message but it was working for me earlier this week. I was on the fence because it is a popover and so not sure if I take my normal 6 in shirts or 4 in popovers.

      Delete
    6. That's so annoying! The promos have always worked on the liberty items before...

      Delete
    7. It worked yesterday and I got the email notification everything had shipped. I love the Liberty shirts but usually just buy them on sale with an extra percent off so I was thrilled to get this. It came out to $59.99 after the promo. I guess that's why so many sizes were left. Very annoying since I was thinking of getting another Liberty shirt.

    8. It appears that the EXTRA40 is working on the Liberty items in the sale section again this morning. The full-price Liberty items are still excluded from the INSTYLE25 promo though.

  10. It's really nice to see the extra 40% off again. There are a couple of sold out items that I have been stalking, so if they pop back in my size I will definitely take advantage of this deal. Hopefully they'll lower the shipping minimum at some point this week, too. :)

    ReplyDelete
  11. There are a lot of promo-priced items eligible for the extra 40% off, making them an even better deal. See the Promo-Priced items list here on my blog. Enjoy your day everyone! :)

  12. I picked up the strawberry thief popover. I've been waiting for a good price on it. I love the print and pray it works.

Unrelated note -- how much do the toothpick cords stretch? I have a pair that's a touch too tight in the back of the thighs. The next size up was huge. Will they stretch a bit? Thanks.

  13. The Martina suede wedges are calling my name. I can live without a lot of the items on sale, but I've been wanting a pair for a long time.

  15. In the "what part of this don't they understand" category, I read in the 40% off sale fine print that wedding dresses are excluded. Seriously, some of these wedding dresses have been on offer for several years. Have a fire sale already (at least 75%)! If that doesn't work, have a fire!

    1. cousy, you are so right. The Dominique gown, for example, came out in 2009!!! What are they thinking? It makes even less sense when you consider the fact that once or twice a year they do the big wedding dress sale where they drastically cut the prices on all of the sale gowns.

  16. Has anyone seen the Jennifer Meyer jewelry? I'm curious about quality and whether it looks better than regular JCrew jewelry. I haven't found any IRL photos online.

How about the Tabitha Simmons shoes, any thoughts on quality or fit would be appreciated :) I've only seen IRL photos on the mary janes but not the others.

  17. CURSES! After I just bought my boyfriend cardigan 30% off! I could've saved even more! Anyway, my clothing budget is shot until December, so I really should stay away from J. Crew.

Random question: has anyone reviewed or even tried on the getaway hoodie? I'm kind of thinking I need to buy it in the light blue, but I like to check reviews before diving in. Someone, point me in the right direction!

Also, here's my blog post from today: another outfit with the boyfriend cardigan.

    1. I have the one from last year...there doesn't appear to be a difference...but there might be. The styling looks e exact same to me. I have the camel color and I like the color and the design...however...the quality is extremely poor. I convinced myself the collection would be better quality and it isn't. It feels a little thicker...but pills and splits just as easily. The first time I wore it...to lunch wi my in-laws (so nothing harsh on e fabric)..both arms sleeves split about 3 inches and after two wears the pilling was so bad it looked years old. This is one of the ones I have been super disappointed with because it is so cute...and not a cheap sweater...and the quality is just not there. hth!

  18. This is why I should learn to wait...have placed a few orders in the last few days with the INSTYLE25 promo code...although my first order came and it wasn't final sale as specified, I may see if the items still pop back and rebuy...not sure.

Overall, even with the 40% off, I think there are a lot of items that have been at very high prices online for months, and the stores have better prices (hello, the Mari sandals are STILL $180 online and have been much cheaper in store...just one example). I'm a little shopped out right now, if I see some popbacks during my morning website stalk I might bite but for now, nothing.

  19. I called CS this am and they were able to do price adjustments for me on items purchased with INSTYLE25 within the last 7 days. However, they take an additional 15% off what you paid (not additional 15% off sale price)....

  20. I'm excited that I finally got the navy Mougin & Piquard watch (85188)! I could not justify $495 for a watch, but it was on sale for $395 and with the discount was only $237!
