A Long Weekend Event: 25% Off Purchase at J.Crew!

"Thanks!" to many of you, who shared the following news/email from J.Crew with us.

J.Crew is taking in the Columbus Day weekend by offering 25% off purchases made both online and in stores with promo code SHOPNOW. This offer ends tomorrow, October 14, 2013. The fine print includes:
*Offer valid on purchases made in J.Crew stores and at jcrew.com from October 13, 2013, 12:01am ET through October 14, 2013, 11:59pm ET. Offer not valid in the 769 Madison Avenue store, Liquor Store, Ludlow Shops, J.Crew Factory stores, at jcrewfactory.com or on phone orders. Offer cannot be applied to previous purchases or the purchase of gift cards and cannot be redeemed for cash or used in combination with any other offer. Offer not valid on wedding gowns, men's suiting, babies' merchandise, High Line branded merchandise, select Collection items and third-party branded merchandise. Online discount not valid on outerwear and men's footwear. In-store discount automatically applied at the register. To redeem online, enter code SHOPNOW in the promo code box at checkout. Limit one promo code per order. Offer valid in the U.S. and Canada only. Terms of offer are subject to change.
This promotion is an interesting one considering what they are doing in-stores: As many of you have mentioned, including ShopWithM & Silver Lining (in this post), stores are offering the 25% off SHOPNOW promotion. However, they are no longer offering 40% off final sale- instead they are giving 20% off sale and allowing it to be stack-able with the 25% off.

This is an interesting workaround to not offer more of a discount on the final sale merchandise. But again, doesn't J.Crew want to move the sale stock in stores? I am not sure how all the B&M stores are doing, but the ones in my area have final sale stuff just lingering around. Granted there is new merchandise added to final sale, but still...

Will you be taking advantage of this promotion? Any items you are interested in? If so, please share!

  1. I've decided I hate these events. I can't use my student discount and since I basically never buy things full-price, this is just a less-impressive % off sale for me.

  2. I went yesterday and bought the Quinn Pumps in black that I have been wanting for months. Online price is $199.99; I was surprised that the in store price is $189.99, with 20% off + 25% off, ended up at $114 + tax. I was really happy with my purchase! Pictures on instagram via my blog.

  3. I went to get a price adjustment on the Houndstooth Tweed school boy blazer. The SA was super nice about it.

  4. So, is the policy now that a student discount cannot be stacked on top of store-wide discounts like this?

    1. Yep. As I understand it, anything that applies to a whole purchase (rather than just items of a certain category, like sale) can't be stacked with student promo.

  5. In my experience, it completely depends on the store. I have one that won't allow it on anything except FP items, another that will combine it with anything. I guess each store gets to call their own shots.

    1. ugh, that'll annoy me if we're back to that. it was like that for a looong time a few years ago - where every SA at every store understood it differently - and then the past few years the SAs everywhere i've been have been very firm that this is the policy and it's universal. i just want to know the rules so that i know how much something is going to be when i take it up to the register!!

  8. OT: I used to use EBates and the Shell Fuel Rewards Network for Jcrew rebates but now they have both been removed and only Jcrew Factory remains. Is that something that Jcrew has done??????

  9. Do not understand this promo. Last week I was able to buy promo items with 40% discount! not Final Sale. This week many of the same items are excluded from discount and are Final Sale. Not sure how J Crew plans to move this inventory.
