Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Crew this {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the FALL sale, or to see some new FALL arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

  1. The B&M store had the 25% off sale on as well.

    Some reviews here.

  2. Do my eyes deceive me, or are there only 180 items in the women's sale section?

    1. Nope you're seeing right, unless we're in the Twilight Zone...

    2. The Madewell sale section is claiming to have 2,509 items this morning. It does seem like the Twilight Zone for both sites.

    3. Something is definitely wrong. Yesterday they had 100+ shoes on sale and today only 10.

    4. super-bizarre, especially because the email I just got from j. crew this morning said 100+ new items added to final sale? I have no idea what's going on. I tweeted at j. crew, but I don't really expect that to do anything.

    5. Maybe Mickey donated it all to a charity rather than let it languish for another 3 years in Final Sale.

    6. cate - LOL!

I'm thinking TJ Maxx, baby! Remember this craziness from 2009? Good times.

    7. WHERE DID THOSE 800 ITEMS GO ? to the big sample sales ??

    8. now the sale section says this:

Pardon us while we update our search engine.
      (Please hit your refresh button.)

but if you refresh it doesn't do anything. maybe they're fixing it?

    9. silver_lining, I am picturing someone in Haiti opening up boxes full of Collection skirts with sequins or 5 million swimsuits and being all ?????

    10. Should say, I hope that didn't come off as rude. I think it's wonderful donating useful clothing to anyone who could use it. My comment was about the usefulness of some of the stuff in the J. Crew sale section. Maybe Mickey could just have a fire sale with all proceeds given to a good charity, since most charities could probably not even use most of the crazy stuff in Final Sale. He just needs to clear that sale section, start over Mickey!!

    11. no, I totally agree. a lot of stuff has been lingering online for a ridiculous amount of time. just give us a 40 percent off final sale and be done with it. I've placed a few orders with this 25 percent off/free shipping promo, but like everyone here has noticed, that's not really moving things out the door.

    12. 40% off final sale doesn't clear it out, though. From time to time, I still notice some items with a non-white background. Those have been around for a long time. Maybe they need a Clearance section, in addition to the regular Sale section. 80% off Clearance ought to do it ;)

    13. true. there's a polka dot pencil skirt that just popped up this weekend that has that old background, you're right.

also, sale is working again ... but it's still only 201 items and it's all random. ugh. WHAT IS THIS TOMFOOLERY, J. CREW.

    14. Site seems to be working - just made an order.

But one has to wonder about all the stuff lingering in the sale section after a week of this additional discount. The Hawaiian Sunset print stuff is not selling - the Carrie Hawaiian print dress is 80% off with the discount and is still available in all sizes. Yikes. And (just to beat a dead horse) the kids section is jam packed with shorts.

I think Cate is on to something about the donation scheme. Just because Mickey didn't do it today doesn't mean they shouldn't consider it.

  3. Factory looks to be the same - 11 items total in women's sale.

But! Madewell seems to have everything they've ever sold in the sale section but nothing's there, just ghost pages.

Strange things are afoot at the Circle K...

  4. I'm just getting a variety of error messages as soon as I try to navigate away from the home page on the Madewell site... it's been like this for at least 6 hours already. I hope they fix it soon because I want to use my coupon before it expires!

    1. I emailed Madewell CS about the website problems, weirdly it's not working at all on Firefox but is sort of working (but with a really messed up sales section) on Safari on my computer but not on Safari on my phone... please someone explain that one to me.

Anyways just in case anyone else is in my shoes with a coupon code expiring today, they offered to extend the code until I'm able to place an order. I do have to call to use it though, or pay in full and email them the order number to credit me back.

  5. Why does JC consistently have so many issues with their sites? The Gap brands have new sales almost every day and never have these kinds of issues. Which reminds me...the people that were ale to get the $18 cashmere sweaters a few weeks ago..did JC fill those orders or cancel them? Just curious.

  7. I know it's been discussed, but could someone please comment on the elbow patch sweater's sizing? Is it as short as it seems? Is it boxy? And do you have to size down? I'd like it to wear w/skinny jeans or leggings, but it almost looks too short for that. Thanks!!

    1. I had to size down, and I could have sized down two sizes if I wanted it fitted. I didn't think it was that short in the torso, but I am short-waisted, so someone else will have to comment to that. Skinny jeans would be fine, leggings wouldn't if you like your bum covered.

    2. I got my regular size but could have sized down if I wanted it more fitted. I don't think it's meant to be a fitted style, though. And sizing down would probably make it shorter. I wore it over a button up this weekend so I didn't notice the length that much, but I think the length is going to be fine for me over a tee or cami. Personally I wouldn't wear this with leggings unless I had a longer button down underneath it. It is a bit longer in back than in front, but that is hardly noticeable and it is not a tunic. The length doesn't seem right for leggings, but it should be fine with jeans.

    3. Thanks so much! Then I think it looks pretty much as pictured. Definitely a no-go w/leggings. I'll really have to go try it on to see.

    4. I sized down to xxs. I normally wear xs in all jcrew sweater. XS was horrible on me. The sides of the sweater was super wide and made me look big. SAs thought the same and told me xxs was perfect. I really like the sweater! i got it both grey and cabernet color.

    5. I agree with cate,it is def not long enough for leggings(i tried it with the pixies),but perfect for jeans.
      It is TTS IMO.

    6. I plan on wearing mine with pixies. Mine covered my bottom, but I ordered my regular size because I like the slouchy look on top with pixies and boots on bottom.

  8. Has anyone tried the Skinny Sweatpants (item #03758)? I don't know if these are the same ones that I got last year that shrunk so much in length. If you have them, have you put them in the dryer and did they shrink? Thanks!

  9. So weird about the sites this morning! I didn't make it into the store today, but am going to try a different one a little further away some time this week.

OT, but I just posted reviews of the Madewell Bien Fait Sweatshirt and Tee here.

    1. Hi M,

Thanks SO much for your reviews - I've been dying for one on the Bien Fait sweatshirt, as I didn't know which size to go with, and I figured if it's backordered until Christmas, I wanted to get it right!!

P.S. I think your blog logo is SUPER cute! Love it!

  10. It seems as if the J Crew site is back up but the Madewell site is not. Sigh...J Crew really needs to figure out their e-commerce resources, because this is foolishness.

  11. I went on Thursday and yesterday. I got the Merino scarf sweater the first time, but didn't really get anything yesterday. I think I'll wait for the next roll-out unless I decide to snatch up a houndstooth wool cap before the sale is over.

  12. If anybody is looking for the navy\grey bar striped tee,i saw it at the store in ATL`s howell mill road in all sizes.

  15. Has anyone tried washing their Pixie pants on delicate?

Or would you still recommend dry cleaning them...

    1. I wash them on delicate every time and they have held up well. I line dry them though, never in the dryer.

    2. I second that method! Wash on delicate, hang to dry. Works like a charm.

  16. Does anyone know why certain stores will honor a student discount when there's a sale going on, and others will not? Went to a store yesterday and was told that my student discount wasn't applicable because of the 25% off storewide sale. I asked an SA why, and she said she'd "get in trouble with her district manager" if she allowed it. Yet last weekend, I was able to use it no problem, with the additional 30% accessories sale, at a different location. This seems like it should be something that's standard company-wide...

    1. My VPS told me that the student discount is combinable when certain things are on % off promotion (like shirts, sale, accessories) but is not combinable with a percent off of everything (like what's going on now) hope this helps!

      Delete
    2. Agree with Alex. The student discount applies to all promos except ones that cover all inventory.

      Delete
    3. anyone know if it will work with the tiered factory promo going on now?

    4. I've been told the same information as Alex from a SA in-person recently.

  17. Has anyone tried on the embroidered front tee? Would love some feedback!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I got the tee today in all three colors. My favorite is the ivory/light gray. I like the ivory and black one also but will be returning the navy/burgundy - I just didn't like it on me as well as the others (and I don't need three!) I wear a M or L depending on the cut of the tshirt. I got the L because I've found that JCrew's tees with embroidered fronts often run small. These are a little big but I'm going to keep them because I like the longer length that the L gives me. I think they are beautifully made.
