This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale
items at our
various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If
you are stopping
by a J.Crew store this weekend to see
what's available (if
anything!) in the SUMMER sale, or to see some new FALL
arrivals {sigh!} in
person, maybe you might be
willing to share that with us in this
post. In particular, if you could
share with us a few of the
noteworthy items that are available, at
what prices, and potential sizes
the store is carrying (as well
as the store location)- that would be
fantastic!
Also,
please let us know if your local store is
carrying an additional percent
off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)
P.S.
I noticed that many of
you have already been reporting sale
items (and in which stores) in
other posts which by the way "thank
you!" :) I really appreciate how
helpful we are for each other!
I'll be heading south this weekend, so I intend to visit JC, JCF and Madewell.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to return my FALLSTYLE order:( I still have my bounceback card burning a hole in my pocket but nothing I have to have. I will definitely check out the new houndstooth pencil skirt if it's in store.
ReplyDeleteNew promo on the Crewlet side. HIFALL gets 30% off online, thru Sun 9/8. Not good in-store. Shop w/the Factory Irl Pic Guide.
ReplyDeleteThanks - there is so much stock I think I'll take another look!
DeleteJust tried the hifall code and it didn't work. Oh well.
Deletecousy - HIFALL should e 30% off everything. It just worked on a mockcheck for me.
DeleteHi gigisgoneshopping - I tried again and still got nowhere. Guess I don't have the magic. Will try again later today.
DeleteMadewell has 30% off "fall favorites", which are mostly sleeveless tops, short-sleeved dresses and the v-neck merino sweater (read: not very fall-like). I've got 25 things on my wishlist and none were eligible for this promo. I guess "help us get rid of these summer pieces" was too long a name for the promo. ;)
ReplyDeleteI was disappointed too. I had one thing on the list, a pair of jeans that I don't really need that would still be $80. I also don't know what size I am, so I'll pass.
DeleteI do want to see more Madewell promos, though. I need those badly.
I actually like Madewell's merino v-neck sweater. I haven't shopped at Madewell much, since their typical cuts and styles don't suit my body as well as J. Crew's do. I bought the Madewell merino v-neck last week though and am wearing it today. It's a little more slouchy than its J. Crew counterpart, and pretty lightweight, but I like it.
DeleteOT - Madewell cash back at eBates is 8% today!
DeleteFriendlyFemme, they do offer free shipping and free returns on all jeans, which is nice if you don't know your size. I've ordered 2 sizes from them in the past to figure out my MW denim size. I wish they would offer free returns more often since there are so few B&M stores. Something about paying to try clothes on just offends my sensibilities. ;)
DeleteCate O, thanks for your feedback on the merino v-neck. I like the look of the split hem. Congrats on the new baby, btw!
I am still hoping for a Vancouver store. Come on, already.
DeleteRose, normally I would agree with you, but right now Canadians have a sweet deal with Madewell - all the clothing is still the same price as in the US retail stores, plus no additional duty on items shipped here. How likely is that to continue if they move north of the border? We'll probably end up paying US retail + at least 20% just like at J. Crew. While a Madewell store would be ideal, I prefer US prices to a B&M, esp. when I can preview the seasonal items whenever I head to Seattle/Bellevue :)
DeleteI went in store yesterday, nothing much in new arrivals in my B&M but I noticed the tipped skirt in colorblock (grey wool skirt) on sale for $99. a link to the skirt: http://www.jcrew.com/womens_category/skirts/pencil/PRDOVR~03427/03427.jsp
ReplyDeleteI did note this in a previous post, but wanted to mention that my store yesterday had a "secret sale" with 25% off all cashmere, cords and out-of-cabinet jewelry.
ReplyDeleteProbably not. It's a half hour away and there's nothing I need to have right now.
ReplyDeleteOn another note, what do you think the next sale will be, if there will be one?
Well, the end of September coincides with the end of Q3 earnings, right? So, I imagine the end of the month will see a big sales push.
ReplyDeleteJ Crew doesn't follow calendar quarters. Their second quarter ended August 3 with an earnings call scheduled for next Thursday. So, their third quarter should close 11/2. This timing allows J Crew to take advantage of the after Christmas/Holiday selling cycle.
DeleteI stand corrected!
DeleteI do seem to recall that there were constant promotions toward the end of the year.
I have no idea what's in store. But I can wait for more promos.
I find it so odd that Factory would start a new 30% off promo the day after they sent out the 10/20/30 promo. I would be irked if ordered something with yesterday's promo. Although it looks like they jacked up some of the prices since yesterday.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was strange, too. The prices at Factory bounce more than they do at JC! IME, some of the lowest you're going to see are during a new arrivals preview. Factory is really a case of just determining what you want to pay for an item and striking when it hits that - otherwise, you could make yourself crazy!
DeleteCase in point: the retro ponte dress (02605) - I ordered it for about $52 when it popped up as a new arrival, then reordered it for $46 as part of a promo 2 weeks later. It was up to $88 yesterday, and now back to FP $98 with 30% off today. It hasn't even been out for a month!
ITA w/silver_lining about Factory prices. I do the math & figure if it's a net 40% off or more that's a good deal. But even that logic fails because I bought the tailored shirtdress (review) for 46%, feeling great about it. Then I was able to get it for about $10 cheaper a few days later. And THEN I saw it on clearance + 50% off in-store. I went back-and-forth on sizing, so I ended up w/the store version for about $30. If I hadn't had an issue w/sizing, I wouldn't have been paying to the prices nor ended up w/the best deal. Doesn't make shopping fun, thinking the price is changing before I even get the order in the mail.
DeleteRetail excursion vest in solid & stripe reviewed here.
DeleteI had a bounce back coupon for the 20% off. I used the actual coupon in store but took a picture of the code so i could also use that at a laterd date online. Can anyone remind me when the deadline to use this was? I'm thinking Sept. 15th but want to be sure. Anyone know?
ReplyDeleteIt is good until Sept 15 as you thought
DeleteExtra 30 off sale still going on in store. First time ever I wasn't even tempted!! @AK, 15th is right.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone else tried/seen the pleated chiffon blouse in gingham? It's the long-sleeved version of the silk gingham top (cami). I received it today via a charge-send, and am conflicted :( It is 'collection' and is overpriced, imo. It is SUPER cute on, but certain details bug me (the polyester lining, for this price; the cheaper way the placket closes vs. the cami, the thinness of the fabric on the sleeves (they are sheer, which is kind of neat-looking, but very insubstantial). I really like the look, but am torn as to whether the price is justified by the construction. It's tempting to buy the cami instead, since it's on sale now. Any opinions are welcome. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWhen in to make a return, positive that I would not purchase anything. Should've known better! I caved and bought the Tilda jewel collar shirt in the Oxford blue. I somehow missed that this went on sale. It was 79.99 plus 30% off. I was surprised to see that the tipped double serge wool pencil skirt in the carbon gray with navy tipped sides was on sale because it's on preorder online at full price. I am pretty sure it was 79.99 plus 30% off (although could have been 99.99). I saw the patch pocket pencil in navy and it has to be mine at some point. I didn't try becuse i didn't see until after I left the dressing room, but I can tell it will look good on me. I think one will hit sale at some point. Must try to stay away the rest of the weekend!
ReplyDeleteThose Gilt J Crew factory codes have been upgraded to 40% off. According to the email I received, if you already used your code you can RSVP again and get a new code. It's good until 2 am Monday. If I decide I'm not going to use my code, I'll post it.
ReplyDeleteDoes that mean the 40% off is good till this Monday 2 am and then it's 25% off after until the 9/15?
DeleteCoupon expires Monday.
DeleteIf you want to see pics, somebody already put the houndstooth Charley up on eBay. Search 'jcrew houndstooth Charley' and it will show up. Looks cute!
ReplyDeleteGilt City has a 40% off J. Crew coupon right now, its good for an additional percent off your entire purchase! I got the herringbone jewel collar sweatshirt, the super cute fair isle sweatshirt pictured above and the black watch plaid tartan shirt for $120!! The lady at the checkout had to go in the back and pull up the code herself because she couldn't believe the discount and that it's better than their employee discount.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know if the Gilt City 40% off online code is stackable with the HIFALL promo code?
DeleteHi JennC - you can only use one code online at JC or JCF.
DeleteThanks Silver Lining! So much for my shopping cart...
DeleteHas anyone reviewed the Tartine Satchel in Spice? My retail store only had the black pebbled leather. I am interested in the spice, but wondered how it looks in real life. Thanks in advance!!!
ReplyDeleteGilt City - Here's the legalese from the email:

Note: If you haven't recvd a code or already used yours, you can sign up for another.
It's only J Crew Factory, not retail, right?
DeleteCorrect.
DeleteBummer. I don't live anywhere near a Factory store, and honestly, w/the higher online prices, even w/40% off, I still don't think it's that great. I'm sure most of the Factory items are way cheaper in store than online from the many comments I've seen here to that effect.
Deletesub
ReplyDeleteLadies, this is completely off topic, get thee to the nearest Macy's or macys.com.
ReplyDeleteI just saw what appears to be a clothing doppelganger of the beloved J Crew library dress of yesteryear. The best part is it's $89.50 and appears to be cotton. Woohoo!
http://www1.macys.com/shop/product/tommy-hilfiger-dress-long-sleeve-printed-shirtdress?ID=950342&CategoryID=5449#fn=sp%3D1%26spc%3D119%26kws%3Dtommy%20hillfiger%20library%20dress%26slotId%3D1
I saw a SA wearing it the other day under a school boy and it looked so cute. The background color is navy, not brown, but the pattern is super close to the original!
DeleteI bought this on Thursday: I can comment on sizing: I kept the XL which I would say is like a 14. The L was too tight in the arms (and the XL was close to too tight there. The dress seems a bit shorter than the ads (those multi page Hilfiger ads have been in every fall style magazine I have shuffled through! Great styling!) or that model is short (ha ha)... It is 100% cotton, sort of a glazed cotton.
DeleteThat is so cute! I'm half tempted. But I'm just not sure how much real life use I'd get out of it. My life is just so casual these days. I'm home w/the kids and doing the PTA thing, and I'm in jeans and workout clothes all the time. But I really like it!
DeleteHi all does anyone know if we Canadians can use the code from Gilt City? I tried to register and couldn't :(
ReplyDeleteIf anyone could email me a code I would appreciate it!
Jcrazy1019 at gmail dot com
TIA!!!
Connie, I just sent you a Gilt City code. I hope it works!
DeleteHi NewJCA Thank you so much for sending me a code but for some reason I did not get it :(
DeleteIf you wouldn't mind resending I would be eternally grateful as I hope to make it to the store tomorrow!
Jcrazy1019@gmail.com
A million thanks :)
Hi Connie. Did you check your spam filter? Just in case, I just sent you the coupon again. By the way, the coupon reads "25% off" but I've tried a mock purchase online and it does get you 40% off.
DeleteBig big shout out to NewJCA!!!!! Thank you so much!
DeleteSo, if there are items in the brick & mortar factory store that are 30% off, this is an additional 40% off with the Gilt coupon?
ReplyDeleteThanks
Dani,
DeleteYes. I just got back from a factory store and the price reductions are crazy with the in-store discounts plus the 40% off on top! I got the jewel collared sweater for $50, the Houndstooth Charley for $35, and the Blackwatch flannel perfect shirt for $20.
I don't think stacking works online with HIFALL though because of the one promo code limit.
Hope this helps!
Stacy
Dani yes the 40% Gilt coupon is on top of in store promos! I just left the store and purchased several items that had in store % off and the 40% of was on top of them all! I got the jewel warmspun sweater for only $49 and the excursion vest for around $62!
DeleteAh, I've wanted that vest for ages!! Went to my factory store last weekend and they had already sold out :(
DeleteDani Did you have them check other stores? My store recently restocked them so another store may have your size now if yours does not.
DeleteI did a charge send and got a navy excursion vest for right under $65 with tax and shipping thanks to the Gilt coupon. They also didn't ask for the code so I was able to use the code again for some shirts for the bf. I am so excited!!
DeleteAshley that's great! I recently got the herringbone version and love it. Customer service at the Factory stores has been so great lately! Better than the B&M retail stores, IMO.
DeleteThank you ladies! My gosh I definitely got TOO MUCH stuff but I am excited ^.^ Thought I'd share the deals I got. (No herringbone excursion vests at my location)
DeleteThe goodies:
Plaid popover for $20
Flannel perfect shirt for $20
Jeweled collar short sleeve button down $37
Jeweled sweatshirt $43
Two perfect fit tanks at $5 each
Harper black with gold heel $51
Teardrop necklace $17
Jeweled collar warmspun herringbone sweater $50
Also, incase you're interested in the men's deals my bf got several button down shirts for about $20 each and loads of ties which were already 40% then the additional 40%! I think he bought every version they had... some of them ended up being only $10!
For those searching for herringbone vests, my strategy was to call Factory Stores in warm-weather states for a charge-send.
Deletehttp://www.jcrew.com/help/store_locator.jsp
I found one on my first try, and they applied the Gilt code for 40% off, which works out to 108 + 40% off + 4.95 shipping = about $70 before taxes.
PSA there are several herringbone excursion vests at the fashion outlets of Chicago location. About 5 size small and two larges on the floor. Seems to be $5 off. HTH someone. Phone # is 847-678-5620
ReplyDeleteETA on jewel collar warmpun sweater JCAs I actually ended up going down TWO sizes from my typical top/ sweater size. I like my sweaters more form fitting and am short waisted but still I think this sweater runs quite large. Also after mulling it over, I decided that I much prefer the carbon black to the cabaret personally. I decided to return the Cabernet. The carbon black is really a carbon gray.
ReplyDeleteDoes anybody have the style number for this sweater? I am looking for an XXS in carbon.
DeleteAnthro Blogger the style number is 02146 and color code is CBC for carbon black. I would suggest calling a Factory store and they can look on their system to find the sweater in another store if there is one and then you can do a charge send if it's not near you. HTH!
DeleteThank you, JCgirl!
DeleteHello everyone, OT but if anyone might have a Madwell coupon they don't use, I would love to use it please
ReplyDeleteRotersand03@yahoo.com
I liked the cabernet color- thinking that the muted red brown color will add some color come time for the holidays. I have retail version as well and I'd say the factory version is thinner and the collar does not extend all the way to the back button- which I don't mind because my hair kept getting caught on the retail version. Also the collar is bit bigger and jewels are on a polyester fabric vs on wool fabric collar of retail. Yes- size down one for a more fitted look-
ReplyDeleteI wasn't a big fan of charley houndstooth- thought it was rather thin and didn't pass my Macy's or HM test :)! Prefer retail version.
Liked the factory navy wool short sleeve top with the jewels at the neckline.
Looked exactly like last yrs retail and similar to a boden version too.
Cuckoo ITA with your review of the Charley houndstooth and I am a huge houndstooth fan. This one didn't pass muster with me. (LOL on Macy's test). Also I should have probably specified in my review above on the warmspun jewel collar sweater that the color preference was more of a personal choice. The Cabernet is a nice color. I wouldn't want to deter anyone from buying it! Thanks for the comparison to the retail version. I never tried that one on and always wondered about it and have pangs of regret for not buying it. I have long hair so I think the collar would have bothered me (I think I'm trying to make myself feel better for missing out on it:))
DeleteJust received my latest order from Crewlet which included a pair of "Sylvia" leather wedges in the Cabernet color. They look just like the "Martina" (and are also made in Italy) but feel a tad more snug. I normally wear a 7.5 in j.crew round-toe pumps & the pair of Martina wedges I own fit perfectly. Anyone else notice the difference or are my feet just more swollen today?
ReplyDeleteThe University Village store in Seattle still had 30% off sale items, 25% off shoes and bags, and 20%, I think, off cords. Still, not that great a selection. The interlock cotton henley was just the thing! Madewell next door had 30% off final sale and 20% off chambray shirts. The dark one with the peter pan collar is irresistible.
ReplyDeleteI went to the Time Warner Center shop to make a return and ended up getting the Jeweled Sateen Shell top, which was on sale for 79.99 plus 30% off. I really like it, however it runs large. I needed to size down 1 to 2 sizes.
ReplyDeleteI also tried on the Tuxedo Stripe Andi Chinos. LOVE. But I can't justify paying full price for them. Crossing my fingers for a sale on them soon.
I bought the Darby Suede loafers in black and pale thistle, the Martina Suede wedges in black and pale thistle and the MacAlister wedges in dark onyx.
ReplyDeleteThe Darby suede loafers ran a half size large on me. They were cuter than I expected and very comfortable.
The MacAlister wedges felt a little more solid this year. There is maybe a half inch platform on the bottom making the heel height a little less. The platform really added to the sturdiness of the shoe and the edging on the sole seems a little more integrated as opposed to the previous ones where it sometimes came off.
The Martina wedges, particularly the pale thistle, are really pretty. I fear the light color will get dirty so I'll have to be careful but really a pretty color. The Martina sizing is a challenge, my regular size ran slightly tight but the next size up would have been to big. Hopefully wearing them will stretch them just a tiny bit.
Still looking for a review on the Silk Bib Top in Colorblock. Has anyone tried it?
ReplyDeletecate - In this post, Denise mentioned that the sleeves were small on the colorblock silk bib.
DeleteThanks Gigi! Sorry so long to reply, I was having technical issues. Thanks too Denise! That info tips me to try the larger of my two sizes. I can't decide if this top is cute or weird but I'm going to give it a try. Thanks!
DeleteReview of the Factory sequin polka dot top in this post. The fit is better than last year's, imo.
ReplyDeleteI just added a white, short-sleeve jewel collar top to the sequin polka dot post. It's also in-store only at the moment. Nets around $37 w/the 40% coupon.
DeleteThank you ladies! My gosh I definitely got TOO MUCH stuff but I am excited ^.^ Thought I'd share the deals I got using the Gilt coupon incase any of you are curious as to in-store pricing compared with online. (Btw, no herringbone excursion vests at my location)
ReplyDeleteThe goodies:
Plaid popover for $20
Flannel perfect shirt for $20
Jeweled collar short sleeve button down $37
Jeweled sweatshirt $43
Two perfect fit tanks at $5 each
Harper black with gold heel $51
Teardrop necklace $17
Jeweled collar warmspun herringbone sweater $50
Also, incase you're interested in the men's deals my bf got several button down shirts for about $20 each and loads of ties which were already 40% then the additional 40 with Gilt Coupon%! I think he bought every version they had... some of them ended up being only $10!
2 more Crew Factory reviews - houndstooth Charley sweater & v-neck sweater
ReplyDeleteAs the 40% Gilt coupon deadline looms, I wonder...Has anyone tried the Factory Everett belted field jacket? I called my local outlets and they didn't have the belted version, only the regular versions in navy.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know the style numbers for Factory:
ReplyDeleteExcursion Vest
Warmspun herringbone sweater
Thanks in advance!
LizPoms Warmspun jewel collar herringbone sweater style # is 02146 and Factory excursion vest is 02533. However, that is for the herringbone vest. I am not sure if the solid colors have a different style #. I think Gigi may have reviewed the solid Factory excursion vest and if so may have listed the style #. HTH!
DeleteLizPoms - Excursion vest style #92465. Reviewed in this post.
DeleteThe dragonfly necklace was on sale in store for 99.99, the sateen shell for 79.99, and the eaton pant are going on promo tomorrow for 110. HTH!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the HUGE tip on the Gilt coupon. We went and used it today. Got a pile of stuff for right at $150. My store was maybe a little picked over/i just didn't see anything all that exciting. I did wind up with a few basics and the husband got some ties, some tees and a pair of jeans that wound up being $14 with all of the discounts. I'm most excited about the multi strand pearl necklace that I've been eyeing for some time. All jewelry was 40% off and then we got another 40% due to the coupon.
ReplyDeleteWoodburn premium outlet (Woodburn, OR) had XS and S Herringbone vests in stock. Also, intarsia sweaters in hen, "Phyllis Diller"-lady sweater (great instead of retail acorn), and bulldog are in stock ($88 but you can take 30% off)- with the 40% Gilt deal, it would be a steal! :)
ReplyDeletePhyllis Diller-LOL!! I knew it reminded me of someone! I call it the crazy French lady sweater (I think the retail name was Parisienne).
Deleteaudball - Phyllis Diller! Nailed it.
DeleteSorry..that's "grey", not "great" for the intarsia sweater !
ReplyDeleteOT -- does anyone know anything more about the "Duffy wool duffle coat" that's for sale on Outnet? I'm guessing it was a collection item but there's no evidence it was ever on jcrew.com. Does anyone know the real name, or can you point me to a review? I see photos of it in JCrew's Fall 2012 fashion show but can't find anything else. Thanks!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.theoutnet.com/product/319482
Rosie - That's the Collection wool toggle coat, orig retail $595.
DeleteYou can see it on Gwyneth Paltrow. #5.
Thanks! Love my JCAs :)
DeleteJust got back from one of the Factory stores and did some major damage in the waning moments of the Gilt City 40% off. There was one herringbone vest left and plentiful stock of the new items. The store is in Arundel Mills, MD. It may be too late to call them at this point to take advantage of the Gilt City 40% off, but if you are looking for any new arrivals from this roll-out or the last they likely have it in stock. Also, I just wanted to share that I think I have spent more in one weekend at Factory than I have in the past few months at J Crew's retail store! I love their offerings right now!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteHeard anything from an SA about upcoming promotions?
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if anyone knows how much the mint stone necklace is in store?
ReplyDeleteAD MD - If it's the translucent stone necklace in mint as seen on Rynetta, that went on sale online for $69.99 in July or so. It didn't go on sale in-store at that time. I just saw the pink translucent on sale over the weekend for $79.99 in-store.
DeleteAD MD - Will you please email me? gigiofca@gmail TIA :)
DeleteSorry everyone I'm talking about the necklace with the mint and brown stones! Is that on sale in store?!
DeleteNew promo - 25% off select shirts, sweaters & pants with FALLSTYLE. Also good in-store. All the way till Sun, 9/15.
ReplyDelete+ free shipping on all orders on 9/9 only
Delete"All the way till Sun" made me laugh and groan at the same time. So much for a cardholder promo before the rewards expire!
Delete*cue sad trombone*
Do my eyes deceive me or is there a cashmere sweater (29660) selling for $18? Looks like somebody over in Tech needs coffee. I wonder if they will actually honor that price and let those orders go through :-)
ReplyDeleteTo add insult to injury, the FALLSTYLE code works with it too. So, the sweater is actually $13.50. Smh.
DeleteThank you Mel, just ordered 2 for $ 28.89 : wait and see.Ciao
DeleteThanks! Just started my Christmas shopping :)
DeleteAwesome! I will sleep in them for that price!
DeleteShoot, it's already been fixed! Bummer, would've grabbed a few for that price for sure!
DeleteI hope these actually ship, but I honestly doubt J crew will honor this price. It looks like this has happened before and they cancelled the orders and offered the sweaters for $118 instead. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
DeleteWhat a deal! Too bad I missed this but I would gladly take one as a Christmas present :)
DeleteJruby18 - if you search from low to high and then click on the sweater you will find the size medium in the heather neon peach for $18.00. HTH! Still there! Picked up a few of these for Christmas presents too!!
ReplyDeleteThx for the tip. I think I may have missed it. At least now I know how you guys grab those great one off deals. I never search lo to hi. I will from now, though!
DeleteNot anymore, unfortunately. Looks like I need to wake up earlier.
DeleteWhich colors were on sale for $18?
DeleteThe colors were heather neon peach, heather neon pink and deep blueberry.
Delete
