It's Back! Extra 30% Off J.Crew's Final Sale

"Thanks!" to many of you, who shared the following email & news from J.Crew.

J.Crew is offering customers to take 30% off all sale items (no min) with promo code SHOPNOW. The offer expires September 30, 2013. The fine print includes:
*Offer valid on the purchase of final sale items in J.Crew stores and at jcrew.com from September 26, 2013, 12:01am ET through September 30, 2013, 11:59pm ET. Offer not valid in the 769 Madison Avenue store, the Liquor Store, Ludlow Shops, J.Crew Factory stores, at jcrewfactory.com or on phone orders. Offer cannot be applied to previous purchases or the purchase of gift cards and cannot be redeemed for cash or used in combination with any other offer. Offer not valid on third-party branded items. Discount on qualifying retail-store purchases will be applied at the register. All sales are final. No exchanges or returns. To redeem online, enter code SHOPNOW in the promo code box at checkout. Limit one promo code per order. Offer valid in the U.S. and Canada only. Terms of offer are subject to change.
It is nice to see that J.Crew brought back an additional percent off their sale online and in stores. It is especially nice that over 100 new items made it to the sale section. Wahoo!

As many of us have noticed and commented, we are not sure why J.Crew has not dropped prices or offered a deeper percent off Final Sale since there is *so* much merchandise (and the same kind of merchandise) just sitting around.

Will you be checking out the Sale section? Are there any items you are hoping to see or to get?

  1. Hello JCAs! There are a lot of new markdowns today. I've listed them in this post on my blog. Included are several collection & in good company items, too. Enjoy your day everyone! :)

  2. Noted a new category in sale section, "50% off end-of-season items". Looks like there is some awareness that they need to drop prices to move stock.

    1. Mostly on swim items, it looks like, but I was able to grab a couple Crewcuts tees as well. Glad they finally realized they need to clear those swimsuits out!

    2. Holy popbacks too! Site seems to be crashing, for me at least.

    3. Very happy about this new category. It's about time! However, I could add many items to the 50% list that have been lingering in sale section for as long as the swimsuits!

    4. Almost all the swim merchandise says 50% off on the product page, but when you check out, it says 30% off. They don't show up in the separate 50% category either, so I'm wondering if there's a mistake on the product page or try calling to get an extra 20% off?

    5. Great feature, I agree, along with "New to Sale."

  8. I am really torn between the biella calf hair loafers and the viv flats in calf hair. Has anyone tried both? Does anyone have any opinions? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. AD MD - I haven't tried either of those. The Biella is more like a smoking loafer with a little lift in the sole & heels. The Viv will probably be closer to the ground w/the thinner sole and more like a ballet flat, but the pointy toe. My choice would be whether I want the smoking loafer/menswear/preppy vibe vs the ballet flat/Audrey Hepburn look. $0.02

    2. Biellas are a bit clodhopper-y, even though they are pretty. It's a lot of shoe (not in a bad way though). Vivs will be lighter and more feminine like Gigi described.

      Delete
    3. AD MD - I agree w/cate. I think the Biella looks heavier. If it were the Darby, I'd say Darby all the way over the Viv. I love the Darby.

    4. +1 on the Darby. I purchased the Darby in calf hair and it's so comfy and cute.

    5. Thanks for the opinions! I'm still so torn, I'll post what decide!

    6. I'm another fan of the Darby!

  9. Thinking about getting the Cashmere Tippi in Heather Neon Pink. Has anyone seen this IRL? Wondering how neon this colour is? Online it looks pretty muted. I already have Neon Fuchsia which I love.

    1. ashton - Saw the scalloped dress today marked $119.99 in-store. Same price online. I reviewed it here in black & the blue/violet color.

  11. Everything I've been interested in is completely sold out. There is not as much in the sale section as appears (unless maybe you were up early, a habit I've stopped).

  12. Can anyone comment on if the flannel shirt in acropolis plaid fits like the boy shirts from last year, or more like the perfect shirts? Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. SunnyCMG - I took size 6 in last year's flannels, as well as the acroplis. I reviewed it in this post.

    2. Hi Gigi!
I actually looked at your review because I knew you had many of the same flannels as I do, but I take a size smaller in boy shirts than in perfect shirts so I'm not the same across the board in their shirts. However, I felt the acropolis paid looked like it fit you in a similar way as the saffron plaid from last year--would you agree?

      Delete
    3. SunnyCMG - I don't see the saffron plaid review to compare. The boy shirts are tailored, but I think the perfect shirts are a little more fitted. HTH

  13. If I bought something last week in store, would they do a price adjustment for the extra 30% off? I know the small print says that it does not apply to previously purchased items, but it was less than a week ago!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. terryliu - The policy is that price adjustments are done on full price merchandise with in 7 days. It doesn't hurt to ask, though.

    2. I have had J. Crew price adjust sale merchandise through a VPS. Like Gigi says, it never hurts to ask.

  14. This morning at 7:45am, just waking up, one eye open, checking my emails on my smart phone, I saw the email announcing the 30% off final sale and quickly scanned through all my favorite categories, e.g. jewelry, bags, tops, knits, tees, etc. and nothing caught my eye, thank god, since I placed an order on Tuesday AND an order on Wednesday (yesterday). I need a break! :)

But then again, if I happen to have lunch in the mall today, who knows what may happen... I've found lots of fun things on sale on my lunch break, e.g. beaded parrot necklace on ridiculous markdown...

  15. The details on the percentage off code says sales are final sale, but it doesn't say final sale under the items when I put them in my car, even after the percentage is applied.. am I going to be able to return anything if I make a purchase? I want to order a couple dresses because I have a wedding coming up, but I don't want to get stuck with more than I need (especially if they don't fit!).

    1. Sappy575 Gigi commented in another post that someone commented on her blog commented that items were not showing as final sale through check out but were showing up as final sale upon order confirmation. Not sure if that means all items are final sale though. I would call CS.

      Delete
    2. sapphy575 - If the items you're ordering end in .00, they are on promo and not final sale. If the items end in .99, they are *supposed* to be final sale and if there's still a computer glitch, you may not find that out until after your order is confirmed. HTH.

  16. I live chatted customer service and they said that if there was not a Final Sale box under the product, then it was not final sale and you can return it. I'm planning on making a sale return this weekend so hopefully it works!

  17. I visited a store today and got the skinny utility chino for $59.99 in aubergine (6). Tuscan olive was also on sale. I was told sunwashed sand is not.

Now here's some good news for everyone. Most of the in-store prices are the same as online prices. In a few cases, the online price is better. I think J Crew is listening and keeping the markdown prices closer together. But we'll see what happens as we get further into the season and/if merch needs to be moved.

I've visited 2 stores this week and prices matched in both stores. So I'm thinking what I've seen is accurate and -- like I said -- the markdown prices are the same or close to online. Of course when you get to the register, you may have a surprise of a lower price. If that happens, please share!

I've updated the In-Store Price Guide with in-store price info that I saw, even if it's the same as the online price. Look for the dates in red.

  20. I'm holding out until they go to 40% off. I've got my eye on the light pink boyfriend cardigan! So far it's staying put in the sale section!

Anyway, yesterday was an almost-fully J. Crew day for me: navy minnies, a striped top, and black Valentina pumps (that I looooove.) A photo and my little review here:
