Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  3. I just purchased the Lands End Supima Cotton Cardigan in the leopard print. It is lovely and exactly as seen on the site:

so pretty and just the right true shade for a leopard print pattern in my opinion.

However, it fits slightly large - I took a medium (my usual size) and should have gone down to a S - it is large through the body, though fit perfect on the shoulders - an oddity for my busty figure! Will try and get a picture up on my blog in next couple of days!

  4. After complaining about Tory Burch recently, I am happy to report that after 3 emails venting to them, someone finally replied to me and surprised me with a gift card for my trouble.

  5. I tried the Garnet Hill Easy Maxi Knit Skirt in Cement. I ordered it in a Medium because that would be my usual size but after reading reviews that said it ran big, I added a Small onto my order too. The Small is still backordered, but I received the Medium and it is quite big, to the point of nearly falling off. It is really soft and has a lot of volume but there is some stitching at the hem that keeps the volume under control. It also has great big pockets. I am looking forward to getting the Small to try.

    1. I should add that I am not sure if the Small will fit, either. I might need the XSmall, that's how big it's running.

  9. Has anyone tried the LL Bean waxed adirondack barn coat? It seems similar to the Barbour jacket but for nearly a quarter of the price. Thoughts?

  10. I tried a few Boden things recently. First is the Romola dress, in Raven and Navy. This seems like a thick brushed corduroy. Has a side zip, great length, notch neck is just right. I think you could layer under it. I kept the Raven one, which is not black but a dark charcoal. The navy was nice too, though. The fit was TTS.

I also tried the Daisy Jacquard top in Spearmint and Coral. This fit me well. The length was nice, the split shirt tails were flattering, and the weight of the fabric was light enough, not too stiff. I liked both colors but kept the Spearmint. I see there is also a dress and a skirt in the Daisy Jacquard.

  11. Hey, all.

First off, I meant to go back and comment with the Boden Weekly Review Roundup that I published last Thursday at the *last* "Weekly Share" post, but time and my memory got away from me.

So I will just link up both last week's roundup and this week's roundup here at this post instead. :)

    Last Week's Roundup.

    This Week's Roundup.

    2. I ordered a few to try just for kicks. I was quite disappointed that the dresses are rayon yet also "dry clean only."

Dry clean only pretty much defeats the purpose of jersey dresses for me.
