25% Off J.Crew Shirts (online & in stores)

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Shopping Celle (in this post), who let us know the following.

J.Crew is offering 25% off select Shirts for Women, Men, and Crewcuts using promo code SHIRTS25. This offer expires August 16, 2013. The fine print includes:
*Discount on select styles marked in store. Offer valid on purchases of select shirt styles in J.Crew stores and at jcrew.com from August 12, 2013, 12:01am ET through August 16, 2013, 11:59pm ET. Offer not valid in the 769 Madison Avenue store, the Ludlow Shops, the Liquor Store, J.Crew Factory stores, at jcrewfactory.com or on phone orders. Offer cannot be applied to previous purchases or the purchase of gift cards andcannot be redeemed for cash or used in combination with any other offer. Offer not valid on Wallace & Barnes merchandise, Liberty print styles and third-party branded merchandise. Discount on retail-store purchases automatically applied at register. To redeem online, enter code SHIRTS25 in the promo code box at checkout. Offer valid in the U.S. and Canada only. Terms of offer are subject to change.  .
Once again I was hoping for an additional percent off sale today instead of this shirt sale. With so many items in the Sale Section, you would think J.Crew would want to move that merchandise quickly. Ah well!

Will you be taking advantage of this promotion? Are there any Shirts you are interested in getting? If so, please share! :)

  1. Hi Alexis! Hope all is going well for you :)

I like the silk ruffle top, which I reviewed here. Too bad this promo is 25%, not 30% like the knits/tees we just had. And it's silly to keep the minimum so high. I think more JCAs would pull the trigger if it were lower.

I wonder if these weird promos are a result of analyzing the contents of people's wishlists.

I'm going to keep holding out for a cardholder promo.

    1. silver_lining - According to a sa, J Crew is having promos now to be competitive with other retailers. My guess is, instead of running back-to-back 20 - 30% off global promos like the Gap brand, they're piecing them out. They're missing out on the shipping aspect. No one wants to pay $9 to ship a shirt they just saved $20 on.

    2. I agree, Gigi. They should have kept the minimum shipping to at least $5 on purchases of $50 or more, like when they did the shorts and tees promo.

Like Silver_Lining, I too am hoping for a cardholder promo. Can't wait for September's roll-out.

    3. It makes sense that they're trying to compete - I'm curious to see how it works out in the long term. For me, with Gap brands since there's always a promo (and usually it lasts only a day at a time) it's easier for me to step away and come back later since the terms will likely change to something better (plus, the free ship for Gap cardmembers really helps!). With JC's long, drawn-out promos without free or reduced shipping, that's more time for me to look elsewhere. Between the 30% tees and 25% shirts promos, that's about half the month of August I haven't been tempted to place an order. I wouldn't be surprised at all if the shirts promo gets extended through the weekend.

  3. Darn. Of course the only shirt I'm interested in is not on the list. I have a $150 rewards card, and I can't find a thing to buy. I like the strawberry thief shirt, but I don't want to add something that I'll have to return to get it.

    1. Thanks GiGi. I really want to love this shirt...but unless it goes on super sale...I'm not feeling it. Have you seen the long sleeved chiffon gingham?

  5. I might bite on the beaded chambray shirt. Does it fit like most boy shirts? I'm trying to decide if I should get my normal size.

  8. Apologize for the OT post, but need a quick answer.....

Want to buy a suit for my SIL (she lives in another country).

I had her try a J.Crew suit and BR suit in the store. The J.Crew suit was much nicer - what she tried was the 1035 Jacket (which was lovely quality but a meh fit - too long IMO) and the Emmaleigh dress (she loved it!!! A 0 was skintight ...a 2 was a little loose up top but gave her room to breathe). The BR suit looked and felt so much cheaper.

I have a $75 rewards card burning up a hole in my pocket...plus $102 in merch that I may return. I was thinking maybe to try the Factory lightweight suiting jacket and emmaleigh-dupe in size 2 for her. Are they comparable at all to the retail version in quality and size? Even if it is better than the BR suit, it will still be the same cost (less, actually because of my GC).

Appreciate your thoughts...It is a college graduation gift. She lives in another country so we cannot really return it : (

    1. I wear a 0 in retail suiting dresses but a 2 in Factory suiting dresses. Factory dresses (at least the ones I've tried) tend to be slightly shorter and slimmer cut.

That said, I am a huge fan of BR suiting. I've had some of mine for years and they still look great. I usually buy the jacket plus pants AND skirt from BR for maximum versatility.

    2. Flower Power - Factory tends to run just a little bigger, at least it has in the past. I think the sizing may be closer to retail at this time, but in some items it is still a little big. Namely the tops in sweaters. I think you will do well to get the sz 2 dress because she can always get an altered smaller. Can't do the reverse. I haven't tried the Factory suiting to comment on fit. I do know that I purchased one of the wool blazers and never wore it. I preferred the retail quality. SIL is just getting started w/her professional wardrobe so I think the Factory may be just fine. Esp if she's not familiar w/JC retail quality.

Remember, CARDPERK gets 25% off at Factory online. I'm not sure when it ends.

    3. What a rambling mess. My eyes are going. I emailed you, too, Flower Power.

    4. I agree too. The Factory skirts and dresses seem to be shorter by at least an inch or so.

    5. Thanks ladies. Maybe I should get her a 4? Worried she will swim in it.

  9. FYI - some stores are honoring the 25% shirts promo on the liberty shirts, stackable with the 20% bounceback card!

  10. completely off topic - but anyone see the mirror oxfords or the kiki leopard print shoes? Am contemplating before the end of the WIT20 promo - thanks!

  11. There are no shirts that I want. At this point, my focus is on fall/winter things. The only thing on the website that I want right now is the french knot tippi, but it's not something I have to have, therefore I'm not buying it at full price even with a rewards card.

  12. This is off topic, but I lost my personal shopper over the weekend, and I'm in a downward Crew spiral (my husband is elated however). If anyone has any recommendations I would really appreciate it. I don't live near a store, but I would even take one in a store if you had a really good one and just do charge sends. It's been pretty traumatic, she was amazing.

    4. Jealous over here. I had great online and in-store VPS's, but sadly they've both been gone for several years. I really don't have an online one anymore and my in store VPS is lame. So, if anyone is willing to spread the wealth, lmk!
