Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. How do JCAs feel about American Giant? I learned about this brand on the 9-to-5-chic blog (ponte pants) and will prob use the AmEx Offer to get something from AG.

    1. I've eyed them for a long time but never bought anything. I love high quality sweats (thick, all cotton), but I'm always worried their women's stuff won't be a good fit on me (tall, long arms) and I don't like wearing men's sweatshirts bc they are often too boxy and the neck is always too high and feels like it's choking me. If anyone has bought AG I'd love to hear about it too!

    2. I LOVE their zip up hoodies. I have the regular classic hoodie in a couple of colors. Super nice details like the reinforced elbows and deep hood. It's a slim but not fitted hoodie... Like it doesn't give me that belly pooch you get with baggy sweatshirts. I went with my usual size small. I also have their no BS pant. By far my favorite leggings. I'm usually a 2 in jcrew and bought the pants in a 2. I did try a regular sweatshirt and didn't like it because I felt I was in between XS and S but I also didn't like the color I tried which didn't help matters. I don't remember having any issue with returns. I think I was credited back pretty quickly too.

    3. Thanks for chiming in. Glad to hear you love the NoBS pant MissJR. Cos those are the ones I mistakenly referred to as the Ponte Pant. Featured here: https://9to5chic.com/2021/09/28945.html

Check out Anh's review Julie. Maybe we'll both bite =). As I said, American Express has a $30-off-$150 offer at AG expires March 31). I'm thinking about those pants and the dresses look enticing as well.

  2. From Everlane, I got the “easy blazer” to create a suit with the put-together pleat pant.
I love the look so much I am going to buy a second pair of the pants (great sale price) and turn them into a pair into shorts. They have shorts as well (sold out) but they’re an awkward length. I’ve always loved a short suit and the cut and fabric of blazer works really well.
The blazer was final sale but I checked measurements carefully against what I already own.

  3. I tried Boden's Turn Up Cuff Cotton T-Shirt, item T0884-ORG. The quality is good but I do think it runs big. I purchased a medium when I would usually buy a large. Some people might not like the cuff but I don't have a problem with it. I also purchased their Cotton polo top, item T0923-BLK. The V is just right but the body of the shirt is wide so for me this runs big too. Quality of fabric seems great for both.
