"Looking to VENT" with J.Crew

This is the weekly "Looking to VENT with J.Crew" post, a place to share our not-so-stellar experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including poor experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. The sale section updated this AM but its full of old sweaters, coats, mittens, and velvet! And yet there is no +% off sale! So they WANT to keep all this stuff around? At this rate they won’t need to put out a holiday rollout this year - they can just recycle last year’s.

  4. Market Tote L6011
The straw has a lot of knots in it. Instead of looking handcrafted, it looks a bit shoddy, sadly. This may just be the one that I received, though.

Item L7712 Tiered knit maxi dress with eyelet trim
Quite a lovely dress, but if you have any tummy at all, especially if you're on the shorter side, the first tier will accentuate it....

    Pricing vent:
I've noticed that Target has a lot of dresses for $29-$39, many 100% cotton, from Tshirt to sundresses to work dresses. Their lines correlate with Jcrew as follows:

    Knox Rose = Point Sur
    Universal Thread = Madewell
Prologue = Universal Standard for Jcrew
A New Day and Who What Wear = Jcrew classics

The totes are pleather, but there are also basket and canvas totes, and a lot of very similar jewelry and hats for much less $.

    Return Vent:

I sent a box to Jcrew in late April with returns from 4 orders. I used the NARVAR return paperwork for all. I called customer service to confirm that it was still ok to send multiple order returns in one box.

The tracking # showed box arrived in 2 days. After 22 more days of no response, I emailed customer service. After 4 more days of no response, I resent the email and got a response 10 hours later. It then took several more emails and an additional 9 days before all items were credited.

I have never had any sort of problem returning items by mail in the past.

  5. I too used Narvar to return two dresses, from the same order. What does J.Crew do? Only refund one of the dresses. I immediately sent an email requesting a refund ASAP, and confirmation once that had been done (of note, I’ve been a J.Crew shopper since the nineties, and this kind of sloppiness at the warehouse rarely used to happen). What is most irksome of the whole situation is that a CS rep. obviously received my email because a “pre-return” for the uncredited dress was processed, but NO one ever responded to my email. J.Crew really is in a death-spiral. Disappointing on so many levels.
