This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.
So
if you have recently purchased,
or stopped by a J.Crew store to try
on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you
might be willing to share that
information with us in this post.
Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.
In
particular, if you could
mention a few of the noteworthy
details like fit, size, fabric, and the
like— that would be fantastic! Thanks
in advance! :)
I was slightly underwhelmed by the new arrivals (there were only a few) last week. Anyone know when the next roll out is? TIA
ReplyDeleteMe too. I breezed through Brookfield to make a return yesterday and honestly none of the new stuff caught my eye.
ReplyDeleteTotally off brand question: I bought a shirt sleeve chambray shirt from anthro. It’s freaking fantastic and was a big hole in my closet. I received it yesterday, tried it on this morning, immediately took the tags off and wore it today. Halfway through the day I checked the care tag and it is 100% tencel. Ugh, I never buy tencel! Too many bag experiences with cheap dresses from old navy that shrunk and were unwearable. I’m usually more careful then this. Anyone have success stories and tips on how to care for my shirt so it’s not a waste of money? Dry clean? (so annoying if that’s what I have to do because I’ll probably wear this thing once a week all summer)
ReplyDeleteDepends on the care label - some tencel must be dry cleaned. Otherwise you can hand wash in cold water.
DeleteHere is a link to the Laundress: https://www.thelaundress.com/how-to/tencel.html
I had a tencel tank and skirt from
DeleteGap shrink and I was able to stretch them out again. Probably didn’t recover 100% of what was lost but it made them wearable again.
13 years ago I bought a bedding from Ikea made out of tencel. It still looks decent though I had it on regular rotation for first several years. It went through numerous washer/drier cycles. Didn’t shrink. If care label says it’s machine washable then and it won’t wash well Anthro will refund you.
DeleteI think Anthro will accept a return without tags if you’re within the return window, if you don’t want to chance it.
DeleteEvery time I hand washed tencel it stiffened and warped and shrunk. Even when I used Woolite or delicate laundry soap (Tocca brand). No bueno.
Maybe you could use a home steamer after wearing to freshen the garment and stretch out the periods between dry cleaning? As an alternative, you might want to try one of those at home dry cleaning kits. In Canada, I can get something called a Woolite At Home Dry Cleaning Kit. You throw it into the dryer, and it's pretty good. It's not as good as a professional dry-cleaning, but it seems gentler on clothing. I think there's another similar product called Dryel (which I've never tried as I have never seen it in Canada)
DeleteThanks everyone for all the awesome advice! I’ll see if I can find that kit Toronto Modern (I usually wear things a few times before dry cleaning too). Glad to know I can return to anthro if there is a problem so I’ll give something a whirl this weekend and hope for the best.
DeleteI've used dryel before. It's good for stretching out time before professional dry cleaning trips and just freshing things up. I've never noticed any issues with it.
DeleteReceived a mailer today branded JC Factory; includes a $20 off $120 factory coupon AND a $50 off $150 retail coupon 🙌🏻. Seems to be for cardholders, and a unique code. Not sure why I’m excited, as there isn’t much I’m interested in or need right now. Expires 7/8. Keep your eye out!
ReplyDeleteI don’t usually pay much attention to comments on JCrew IG posts but they’ve been posting the Love First tees with various couples and what I just read is so upsetting. People saying they’re going to stop shopping, posting thumbs down, threatening to cancel credit cards. Saying it’s perverse and disgusting.
ReplyDeleteBecause of a picture of a smiling couple. Wow.
I agree, there is already so much hate in the world, and people are going to hate on those in love?
DeleteWhen I worked at J. Crew and Pride Day was coming, the store manager had a brief meeting with us letting us know that J. Crew would fully support anyone that wanted to wear Love First tees, paint a rainbow on their face, or do anything else similar, and that if we had poor interactions or customers with issues, to grab him immediately. That we were to feel safe and protected there. It really was a lovely place to work in that regard. I have never worked with such an age, race, gender, etc. range of people as I did while at J. Crew.
When I was younger and I would go to the stores more often, I loved seeing how the older SAs styled their JC. They had the best style. I also remember thinking you don't see other brands or stores hiring older people to work the floor. JC stores was where I decided that gray hair looks super stylish!
DeleteHi ladies! Just stopping by to offer my discount codes from the mailer Wendy mentioned above as I won’t use them. Exp 7/8/19 and must be used w a J Crew Credit Card. Please post if you use these and happy shopping.
