Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. OT, does anybody want the Sweater-dress with striped neck tie (Item L2540) in XS? If anybody is interested, it would be about $40 shipped. It is gorgeous but I need an XXS, so I ordered a replacement. It is still full price on the website, but CS let me substitute an item that arrived damaged, so I got it at a super sale price. Happy to pass on the savings to another JCA.

  2. Ordered the red and ivory striped tee with the black writing. I have two other red and ivory striped tops I don't wear because of the fit and was hoping this one would be better. Too fitted through the chest and too loose through the torso. Just not right for my proportions. I wish it fit more like the old, old painter tees. It's longer than some of the recent ones but still too boxy for me.

    1. I might return today. I'll report back about sale or lack thereof in store.

  3. I received the scallop trimmed sweater in stripes today. I’m curious if anyone has this top. If so, has anyone washed it. I normally hand wash my Tippi sweaters but I’m worried about the thinness and colors.

  4. I shopped sale a little bit today and got the silk button-up in jungle cat and skirt in heart print. I'm impatient for new arrivals since I'm hoping to see anthro lady influence starting to show.

  5. A vent so everyone is able to view in this thread. Email arrived another 10% of on sale items. One time use only. No code. Website having issues and doesn’t apply the discount. Striped tunic blouse arrived yesterday in blue, very nice fabric. True to size. Had to call twice asking for a price adjustment finally given one. Shoutout to the CS person that gave me the adjustment. Watch, tomorrow or in the next couple of days there will probably
be another promo. So tired of these games and having to waste time calling for adjustments. I’m starting to fall out of love with the company.

    1. Hi Lynn and JCA's - I received an e-mail a few weeks ago that said if you're a cardholder, you can use code THECARD for an additional 10% off your order through March 14.

    2. ill have to check my emails. I just placed two orders last week so I'll see if I can get a PA

    3. @silver_lining, First of all a big thank you. Wow, now this is really interesting. I receive and read from top to bottom emails daily from Jcrew. As a cardholder, this is one I did not receive. When my VPS returns on Sunday I am going to mention this to her. Thanks very much again.

    4. Hi Lynn and Suz - if it would help, I got the email on 2/28 from "Your J.Crew Credit Card" with the subject line of "Your shopping future looks bright!".

    5. Thanks so much, silver lining! I have the card, but no email.

    6. Oddly enough I just got the email but the code only shows up when you click through the link. AND it expires Monday. Not much time to use it.

  6. Stopped in this morning to see some of the new arrivals and as an excuse to pay my bill. It’s not a horrible selection and it’s nice to see spring colors, but all the gingham stuff is so basic and generic looking. I’m also over word tees - they look dated. The sale section was sparse and the $9.99 was of course over - the same 3 XXS Liberty
Shirts that were $9.99 when I bought mine are now $79.99. How annoying is that? So, sitting it out for now.

  7. There is nothing I want. Anything I wanted was sent away in their
"liquidation" sale. Instead my money has gone to yoga clothes, cotton sweaters from the Gap (thanks for the heads up SuzHas), and sale booties from Nordstrom. I'm also enjoying browsing Poshmark.

    1. Same. Pretty much everything I ordered from last month's new arrivals is going back due to fit issues or just not special enough to keep.

    2. Yeah, same. I've pretty much stopped looking at the website, but am continuing to source old school 'Crew from ebay/PM/ThredUp.

  8. I did visit to return those tees. No extra off sale at Jcrew and the store is 30 off full price. There are still sale items from the holidays that are now more $. Makes no sense.

Nothing of interest here either. I was contemplating the white slingbacks. They are not in store so I tried the multi color snakeskin version. They seem to run small as the 8.5 was a little tight. I didn't find the back very comfortable even walking from the try on area to a full view mirror. They seem a little narrow and dainty for me, and definitely the coloring isn't great for my skin tone. Sales associate was trying to push me to buy before they're all sold out and because 30% off, and I wanted to say I'll wait until they're 80% off, and then consider. (But I feel these will be a pass for me.)

    1. Madewell had a very small sale section with extra 30 off. There was 15 percent off for insiders but I didn't ask if they could be combined.

    3. @Suz, Wise decision about the shoes. I found them very uncomfortable in the back and the fabric appeared cheap. They were sent back the same day they arrived. Having a difficult time to find attractive looking shoes from them these days.

      Delete
    4. I had a $15 voucher from Boden and I ordered a pair of gingham block heel slingbacks. The heel is a bit higher than I wear, but I thought the navy/white would work with a lot of my clothing. They have an almond/round toe so that should help with comfort.

      Delete
    5. Oh, Lynn for some reason I thought you said you liked them.
P banos, I just checked and didn't see anything like that online. I am not interested in navy gingham but curious about the style.

I'm going to keep my eye on the prize for this hunt. I know what I want and how much I'm willing to pay...I'm not going to just buy. I went through my old order history and I've bought too many pretty things just because. I'm going to try and stay focused knowing what I'm looking for will work with my wardrobe and that's that.
(I know easier said than done).

      Delete
    6. Oh those gingham heels are adorable. For some reason they don't show up when I go to the website but when I googled I was able to see them. I hope they work for you!

    7. @silver-lining thanks very much again for posting. It works, I now believe I did receive it and just threw it in the trash bin at the time:) My mistake.

    8. @Suz Has, they had pink as well, but the blue were a great price. Plus they'll fit my wardrobe better. I'm thinking with white jeans and the JCrew lace up grommet cashmere sweater. And with my dark wash denim skirt, or chambray dress - how about the J Crew ponte wide leg crops? I do hope they fit well. Boden has some very cute shoes.

      Delete
  9. Suz, I did like them initially online (the snakeskin) but I also posted in the back of the heel the material was not good and was rubbing against the back of my foot. Size wise they fit. Hope this clarifies.

  11. I received a one-use code in an email. It did not work, but I called and CS applied it manually. Was sent to people whose local store closed. So keep your eyes open. It's 35% off, and works on items that are marked down where the 30% off ("Sunny") is not assigned. I just got a sweatshirt, but I've been wanting one to replace my old favorite with the stains&holes. I was tempted by the Liberty quilted jacket, but really I have enough jackets.

    1. There were some amazing deals still at around 6 am. I filled my cart, then told myself I didn’t need the stuff, deleted everything and didn’t place an order. I may regret this later as the prices were very good.

    2. @Jeanne I turned away from a number of things as well, if the blue paisley Liberty had been a button up I would have picked it. For me the pattern was perfect but the loose fit does my wide shoulders hourglass no favors compared to a fitted shirt. I nearly bought the Liberty field jacket, but I have too many jackets even at a great price.

    3. I noticed the Liberty popover was listed on the Daily Deal page as $55 with an additional 50% off. I took a screenshot, bought the shirt, and sent an email for a price adjustment. Fingers crossed!

    4. CJ, wondering if you heard from customer service about this. I'm noticing the same pricing today but it's not actually $55 and 50% off when I add to cart and apply the promo. :(

    5. @shopalot - I did! They honored the crazy price of $27.50 and acknowledged it was an issue with the site. The price should have been 40% off of $110 (original price). I’m sure they wouldn’t have honored the PA without the screenshot though. Very nice, as always.

    6. CJ, that is great that they honored the price. It is so strange that they had that error up for TWO days.

  16. I picked up a few things this morning - slept in thanks to daylight savings! I bought the deconstructed blazer in belvedere red (has anyone tried this?) as well as the 365 boatneck tee in white and the Ciao Baby tee. I've been wanting a red blazer for ages and I think this one could be good with jeans.

Also - reporting back on the perfect rain jacket in pink. Tags are still on - I packed and brought it to visit my parents in SC but didn't wear it - I ended up wearing my pink J.Crew NB sneakers a lot and it was a bit too much pink. Fit wise - the small was good (6 on top) and the sleeves were actually ok, right at my wrist. It is noisy as someone else commented. On the fence if I'm keeping or returning.

    1. I just showed my husband the red blazer. I wasn't sure how I felt about it, but he really liked the fit and the color. I bought it at the last 50% off sale. It actually looks best with black pants, and especially with my black/white skirts. I will also pair it with camo pants or my olive green polka dot pants for fun.

I could have ordered the perfect rain jacket this AM for $30, but I passed on it. If it were actually waterproof I would have ordered it, but I have enough cotton jackets.

    2. Oh I'm so tempted by this blazer.

      Delete
    3. @Suz Has, it would fit in your color preference I think. Be aware though it is more orange-red than fire hydrant red. The sleeves are not super long, but at least not cropped, so they nearly work as full length on my long arms/wide shoulders. The torso has some taper to it, and ends at high hip. Not a cropped length, but short. It is unlined, a heavy twill that does not read as a shirt. I'm wearing a 6 my usual J Crew jacket size. It is roomy, but I would not size down, since I prefer a jacket I can move in freely.

      Delete
    4. p - thanks for the feedback on this! I was hoping for less of an orange red but we'll see how I like it. The Parke blazer in bright cerise was too orange for me. I'm wondering if it will pair well with the poppy button down blouse if it's a little more orangey red.

      Delete
    5. @Anne, I have that blouse from my store closing sale, and yes they are perfect together. It's one of the reasons I'm thinking about keeping the jacket. Great with black flares.

      Delete
    6. I ordered it to see if it will work to replace a belOved linen schoolboy that's a little tighter across the shoulders than I like but it really depends on the color. The schoolboy I have from 2013 was also called Belvedere red! But it's a true bright red and a little less orangey than the more recent bright cerise variations. Also it's got a black and white striped lining in the sleeves which I love.

      Delete
    7. I just looked at this schoolboy and it made me long for the good ole days. Pockets inside and out. Cute details like the striped lining accenting the INSIDE pockets. I might try to steam it and see if it can be stretched a little. 100 percent linen and a 100 percent COTTON lining. No wonder I paid over $100 back then.

      Delete
    8. @Suz Has, Linen is a non-stretch fabric (linen pants do not stretch when you wear them), so I would not expect much. But if you stretch the lining and not the linen, that might not be so good...

      Delete
    9. Really, my linen pants def stretch!

      Delete
    10. You're right, I read about the fabric qualities, so maybe stretch isn't the right word? Soften?

      Delete
    11. @anne I have (and reviewed) the deconstructed blazer. Really love it and the cropped fit reminds me a bit of the schoolboy blazer.

      Delete
    12. Interesting! I will compare the two side by side!

  17. I just want to share my love for the new multicolor cobalt tweed fluted hem dress and Lady jacket. I had been leery of the J. Crew tweed fabrics for the past couple of years - I thought many of them looked cheap or garish. Or they would be perfect in every way except an unnecessary detail like a bell sleeve (why???), ribbon ties, or excessive use of metallic threads.

But this tweed jacket is PERFECTION - it's a wonderful blue color that will be easy to pair with black, navy, white, or denim. And the braided trim is an elegant touch. It reminds me of the Collection French Tweed Jackets from a few years ago (that were 500$ and sold out before I could snag one). I got the matching dress, which will be ideal for work purposes.

But I do have a question for the JCA community: how to style these tweeds so that they aren't too aging? Any ideas beyond the classic pairing with jeans and a graphic tee? I do realize these items are the exact opposite of "edgy". Maybe the "younger" way to wear them would be to style them with a leather moto jacket, but that doesn't feel quite right for my style either....

    1. @EllieB I have a popup of a Collection Lady Jacket that is quite similar, though a different shade of blue.
I've paired it with white wide leg pants, and white skinny pants. Also a skirt embroidered with lovebirds for some pattern matching - the colors just happened to work well together. Then with flowing hem mini skirt for younger look than when I wear it with a pencil skirt (perfect for work). Finally I have a pair of flared twill trousers in a medium blue that work the way jeans would, but not casual as plain denim. I think you could go with bermuda shorts in late spring/early summer, but I can't see too many times when I could get away with this look because of work.
Underneath I prefer to go with a simple t or shell, graphic t's seem too cliche. It works with a white top, or any of the colors in the tweed.

      Delete
  18. Yes!!! Great suggestions! I agree wide white pants would look good with this jacket. I'm thinking of getting these wide leg jeans from the JW Anderson Uniqlo capsule collection: https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/women-bell-bottoms-jeans-jw-anderson-417560COL67INS026000.html
In white they would be perfect!

Even though it is rather conservative, the fluted hem on the matching dress I think makes it feel a little more fun than the typical tweed dress, similar to the flowing hem mini skirt you mentioned.

I agree, graphic T's are kinda cliche at this point. The featherweight cashmere shell from a few years ago is my go-to layering piece in this situation -- I wish they would bring it back; I wear it year-round.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes the cashmere shell or ss tee is perfect. But I'm not averse to a plain t that I can wash quickly.

I also want to try it with my wide leg ponte crops and pumps.

      Delete
    2. @ p banos - wide leg crops + pumps would be adorable!
I also recommend Uniqlo for plain short sleeve tees - they are a nice thick cotton that has a bit of structure to it, and holds up very well.

      Delete
    3. Ellieb Those jeans are similar to the Point Sur wide leg crops from Jcrew. I got the denim version this winter. (In tall because I don't like when crops are too above my ankle.) I believe they come in white cotton too

      Delete
    4. @suzhas, great suggestion! I also like that the Uniqlo ones are longer, but ordering the Point Sur pants in Tall is a good idea. I have to admit I have shied away from those Point Sur pants because the model looks kind of awful in some of the pictures. They do look good in the navy and white pictures, but in the photo for the green ones she looks rather unfortunate....

      Delete
    5. @Ellie, I ordered and returned the Point Sur wide leg full length pants. I got my 'usual' 26 and while they fit, they looked awful on my thighs. I think these pants are perfect for a woman who has slender thighs, but not for one with full thighs. I have the denim pair that @Suz Has mentioned (sized up to 27) and those are fine. It was the thinner material that had the thigh cling. I see that in some of the photos.

      Delete
    6. I haven't looked that closely at the pics! I'm always tempted by black wide leg crops. I don't like the front pockets on the Everlane ones as they always seem to pucker. The little pockets on the Jcrew ones, though fairly useless, seem to lay flat. I also would consider the Madewell ones though I haven't tried them recently.

      Delete
    7. Oh I see what you mean. They just seem too tight! I think that way about some of the Everlane pics and some of the denim styles. Granted I tend to prefer pants not super clingy on my thighs...

      Delete
    8. I'm overall slender but I'm a runner and I fear I would suffer from the big thigh-pants cling issue... It's really hard for me to leave my skinny jeans/pants comfort zone!

      Delete
    9. Oh I know. There are a whole bunch of pants that I can't wear. My thighs aren't huge but I guess relative to my hips and waist the proportions don't work.

  19. Good promo and pop back items this morning! Picked up the Jungle Cat Shirt and the Lady Jacket in Multicolor Tweed - I’ve always liked these and very happy with the prices w the promo. Oddly, the Lady Jacket was still at FP w the 30% in store promo on Friday and I didn’t bother to ask about it. Also added a couple of those cute EastPak denim

  20. Stopped in store, so I could try on heart print dress and top. Both fit tts. I ordered shirt in tall for extra length; dress and jungle cat print silk shirt also came home with me. All of these items were on my wishlist, so glad I was able to purchase. Prices were much higher in store (heart print top and dress were both still full price and jungle cat print shirt was $96). Stores matched online price.

    1. Great buys! I bought those too! I bought the heart print shirt last month and have loved it! I've been wearing it with a black tweed miniskirt from LK Bennett, black tights and ankle boots, and it feels both fun and polished. I think I bought it nearly full price -- I wish I had waited...
But today I bought the jungle cat shirt today for only 26$ so it all balances out in the end :)

      Delete
    2. Yeah! Glad you were able to score the jungle cat shirt. What a great price! Your outfit with the shirt sounds really cute. Since I’m a sale only shopper, I have to wait for the price drop, but the struggle is real.

      Delete
    3. I actually am a sales-only shopper too, but with all the pricing games, I am having to recalibrate what I consider a "good" price... I think I bought the heart print shirt for a 25% off new arrivals sale in February, so it kinda felt like full price (~90$ - the upper limit of what I would pay for a shirt.) But weirdly, in March the new arrivals are going for 40-50% off (plus the stackable random 10% off email...) Sometimes I wonder if we are guinea pigs in a market research study.... But they must know what they are doing because I'm shopping the Crew a lot more than I did last year.

  21. I stopped in-store to make some returns and walked out with a puff-sleeve short sleeve top in Liberty Sheperdly print. It was $110 full-price and I'm miffed to be paying $66 (asked them to honor the online 40% off as it was ringing up full price) when the white version is $65 at full price- seems a very steep markup just for the Liberty name when it's the exact same shirt. But, as it's in-store only, I bit. If it makes it online for the next rollout I will return and stalk for sale. Item is L0599. Ina has it reviewed on her insta- she said hers was a 0 but they were XS, S, etc. at my store. I found it TTS for usual Tippi sweater sizes. Didn't seem to run small the way the Liberty button-downs normally do.

    1. @Alyssa, if it makes you feel any better, I sew and every so often buy Liberty fabrics by the yard. Their cotton fabric (which this is likely made of) is extremely expensive, anywhere from $27 to $40 a yard, and even more for silks and other fibers. The cotton if really finely milled (that how they get that silky texture) and responsibly woven either in Britain or France. I'm sure J. Crew buys it wholesale for cheaper but knowing how much the raw material would cost if I were to make it myself, I think what you paid is a good deal.

      Delete
    2. That does put it into perspective, thanks!. I thought J. Crew might just be licensing the print rather than buying the fabric.

      Delete
    3. I would be shocked if Liberty does any licensing. They have been in business for 150 years and are very protective of their quality so I wouldn't be surprised if they are also involved in the J. Crew collaboration beyond just supplying the fabric. I'm glad I could help! Anything Liberty I usually splurge on when I can afford it. Still miffed that my store didn't have any $10 Liberty shirts or tops, I would have bought them all!

      Delete
    4. I went to the Liberty store on Regent when visiting UK last summer and realized how great the pricing (30-40% cheaper before promo) is at J Crew. @Anthro Blogger, you’re so right about the pricey nature of the fabric. I ended buying 4 meters of silk to have ponchos made. It was 50£/meter. I bit the bullet because I loved the prints and there was a tax refund.

      Delete
    5. I’ve purchased Liberty fabric a few times, too. I could buy a premade shirt for less than it would cost to sew one, so I never tried a shirt.

      Delete
    6. The fabric room at Liberty was one of the highlights of my trip to London. Oh my goodness, the patterns and colors and the cute sewing accessories. I wanted to take it all home even though I don't sew! I tried on one of their Liberty button up shirts and the fit was off. I'm used to J Crew's perfect shirts and their version just didn't look right, kind of frumpy. It was a lot more expensive, too.
