JCA "Help Style Me!" Weekly Post

This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this post) says it best, "You know, that thing you bought because you love it and you keep pulling it out and then putting it away without wearing it?"

Please share your J.Crew item (either that you own or are thinking about getting) that you would love help creating an outfit with.

Also, please help out by offering your styling advice. Feel free to include links to your blog (where you incorporated that piece) or to Polyvore (where you showcased an outfit with that piece). Thanks in advance! :)

  1. Today I received the Point Sur paperbag pant in stripe K2748 from the 50% off sale sale.

I ordered these in 2Tall as I expect to wear them to work with mid heels. I've had bad relationships with elastic waist pants before, but these fit very well. They do have a zipper front, so are better fitted in the rear than I feared.

I very rarely keep a dry-clean only item, but these are nice enough to win me over. If anyone has hand-washed these pants let me know. I've had viscose that is washable, but some of it is not.

The material drapes well, is a good weight for all but the coldes or hottest weather, and I like the pattern. With heels + the very high waist (the ruffle extends up a bit) my legs look extremely long. Unfortunately I'm a bit short in the waist, so I will need to take care with my top. Any ideas?

    1. I coincidentally just saw similar pants paired with a slim fitting soft button down, opened at the neckline. It looked really good. I happen to like the silhouette.
As far as washing goes, I’d probably just steam the pants and spot clean as needed, they don’t need to be pressed. I think I’ve washed viscose in the past and it can get stiff.

    2. I'll try with my white perfect shirt and the sleeveless version. I also have a fitted 3/4 sleeve top with a double v neckline that may work. Definitely need a fitted top, fully tucked.
